In Fox Lake, Illinois, a police officer was ambushed and killed this morning.
A community an hour north of Chicago was on lockdown and a massive manhunt for three armed and dangerous suspects was underway after a police officer was fatally shot Tuesday morning.
Helicopters were circling above Fox Lake, Ill., and every law enforcement agency from the area, along with a regional SWAT team and K-9 units were hunting for as many as three suspects after the police officer was shot around 8 a.m. local time. Authorities confirmed to FOX32 that the officer had died.
The officer, who has not been identified, had radioed in that he was going to check on some suspicious activity. Lake County Sheriff spokesman Chris Covelli provided additional information at a news conference:
The officer was shot in a marshy area, stripped of his gear and weapon, and died at the scene. Citizens of the Fox Lake and surrounding areas have been asked to by hyper vigilant and aware. An area high school is on lockdown. Meanwhile local and state agencies, regional SWAT, helicopters and dogs are searching for two white males and one black male who are suspects in the killing of this officer.
One wonders how many lives have to be taken before this country comes to the realization that enough is enough?

In just five days, we’ve seen police officers gunned down in two separate parts of this country. Harris County District Attorney called Goforth’s murder an “assault on the very fabric of society,”
Sheriff Ron Hickman echoed that sentiment, adding that a dangerous national rhetoric “has gotten out of control.”
“We’ve heard black lives matter, all lives matter… well, cops’ lives matter, too. So why don’t we just drop the qualifier and just say ‘lives matter,’” he said.
Today’s murder of a Fox Lake Police Officer is a horrendous assault on all this country stands for. His life mattered. ALL lives matter. We hope those three suspects will be captured without incident nor any harm to others. Most especially we pray for the officer’s family, for the Fox Lake Police Department and for all law enforcement around the country.

Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz, was killed after a foot chase involving three suspects, police said.
Outpourings in Gliniewicz’ honor are streaming in on social media and from a mourning community.
Gliniewicz, who went by Joe to his friends and family and “G.I. Joe” at the police department, was a lieutenant in the Fox Lake Police Department, a youth volunteer, an Army veteran, a father and husband.
Gliniewicz leaves behind a wife and four boys who range in age from their early 20s to a teenager, Giorgi said.
He also was a leader for the Fox Lake Police Explorer Post, which trains high school students who are interested in law enforcement.
Our prayers go out to the Gliniewicz family, and for those hunting for his killers who are still at large.
My brother recently retired after 42 years in a town not very far from Fox Lake. In fact, his wife, my sister-in-law, was in lockdown where she works, about a couple of miles from the scene. My brother didn’t know Lt. Gliniewicz, but is very saddened by this. Fox Lake is not the mean streets of Chicago, it’s a resort town, for God’s sake.
Lord, Jesus, please comfort the Gliniewicz family, the FLPD, and the town of Fox Lake.
This whole thing makes me sooo sick. I’m soo tired of hearing about our officers getting killed just for wearing a badge. If people can riot for people being harmed for their skin color, why is it “okay” for officers to be ambushed? This country is in such very sad pathetic shape!!
