Joe Biden’s excuses aren’t flying with East Palestine residents. They roasted him six ways to Sunday regarding his excuses as to why he hasn’t visited.
It’s been seven months since a Norfolk Southern train derailed in East Palestine, spewing toxic chemicals in the air. The excuses and blame games started immediately. Aid was slow to arrive, the residents were gaslighted about the toxicity of the chemicals, and Joe Biden has been AWOL from the beginning.
It didn’t matter that Pete Buttigieg showed up twenty days later, gingerly pranced around some of the derailment site and made dubious promises. None of that has been helpful as the residents of East Palestine deal with government indifference and a raft of illnesses throughout the community.
Keep in mind, Joe did publicly say he’d visit East Palestine….at some point.
Finally, nearly seven months after the fact, during his visit to survey Hurricane Idalia damage, and mere days after he flew to Maui, someone asked the question.

BIDEN: “I haven’t had the occasion to go to East Palestine. There’s a lot going on.”
CUT BACK ON ALL THE FREAKING VACATIONS AND GO VISIT EAST PALESTINE, JOE.
You said SIX MONTHS AGO that you’d visit, and you’ve spent… pic.twitter.com/LqYh6FSDN2
With excuses like that…it’s no wonder East Palestine residents are roasting Joe right and left.
Local residents Courtney Miller, DJ Yokley and Jami Wallace spoke with “FOX & Friends” guest host Dr. Nicole Saphier about the struggles they’ve endured since the disaster that spewed toxic chemicals and caused health and environmental concerns.

“I still have yet to take my kids into East Palestine — I’m still fearful of what it’s going to cause,” Miller told Saphier about her situation.
She added that most of the people she knows in the area have “ended up sick,” and mentioned she’s been staying in a motel near the town since the derailment.
“I just still don’t feel comfortable,” she continued. “And I don’t want to take my kids into something that obviously Biden doesn’t even want to show up [at].”
Then again, do they really WANT him to show his face after all this time? As for the federal aid, are FEMA and Department of Health and Human Services still involved? How about the CDC in regards to all the chemicals? Or is it just like Joe’s promises to Maui where residents will only be given $700 per HOUSEHOLD to rebuild after their homes were obliterated in the fire? Oh wait, never mind.
Joe not only WON’T visit, he hasn’t declared East Palestine a disaster area.
As September rapidly approaches, so does another grim anniversary marking the East Palestine rail disaster. On Sept. 3, seven months will have passed since a Norfolk Southern train derailed and spilled its toxic contents. It will also mark two months since Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine requested a Major Presidential Disaster Declaration from the Biden Administration. Despite pleas from residents and Senators Sherrod Brown (OH-D) and J.D. Vance (OH-R), Biden has made no move toward making the declaration that would give East Palestine access to millions of dollars in federal aid that many say is desperately needed.
OH. So they are getting the shaft on this. Just wonderful isn’t it? Joe’s empathy is as empty as his rhetoric.
Supposedly it is just too damned difficult to schedule and plan a trip to a town a mere four hours away from Washington D.C. But it is super easy to plan vacations, so many vacations.
East Palestine resident Jamie Wallace said, ‘You know at this point, I think it’s pointless to come,’ about a future presidential visit.
‘Just give us the federal support that we need,’ she told News Nation. ‘You’ve already shown us how little you think of us, so coming now would just add to the insult, because we know he would be forced to come in here.’
She pointed to Biden’s Saturday trip to Florida.
‘The only difference between East Palestine and a hurricane, is the hurricane never left from above us, it’s still there seven months later, it’s just invisible,’ she said. ‘You can’t see the homes that it destroyed, that are full of chemicals that people can’t live in.’
‘If he doesn’t care enough about American citizens to come here and visit us, give us the support that we need,’ Wallace added.
I’ve three ideas as to why Joe won’t visit East Palestine, Ohio and why he won’t sign the aid declaration.
One: It’s political in that East Palestine is largely Republican
Two: This was a man-made disaster and Joe can’t blame climate change for it
Three: He Just. Doesn’t. Care.
There are many times when I believe the government should stay out of local issues. This is not one of them. This is an issue that has far-reaching implications for people’s health, the environment, and more. Joe Biden’s refusal to acknowledge this and provide the resources for assistance speaks volumes.
The residents of East Palestine are angry at Joe Biden and I don’t blame them one bit.
