The low energy Dr. Ben Carson certainly showed a great deal of animation when confronted by media bias in an open press conference on Friday. Speaking to reporters in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Carson was patient but firm.
Regarding Dr. Carson’s youthful temper problem, CNN cast doubt on stories from his 1990 autobiography Gifted Hands. CNN reporters told Carson that they had interviewed people from his past and that they could not corroborate his stories. Dr. Carson responded:
“Why would anybody know about, you know, private incidents like that? You know, I was generally a nice person, it’s just that I had a very bad temper,” Carson told CNN at a lunchtime book signing. “So unless you were the victim of that temper, why would you know? Just because you happened to know me? That doesn’t make any sense.”
Also, coming from the reporters were questions about Dr. Carson’s West Point story. Liberal website Politico lied about Carson lying about “attending” West Point in his 1990 autobiography. Politico has since changed the title to lie again….Exclusive: Carson claimed West Point “Scholarship” but Never Applied.
Ben Shapiro of the Daily Wire really takes the Politico lies/hit job apart.
Politico began thusly:
Ben Carson’s campaign on Friday admitted, in a response to an inquiry from POLITICO, that a central point in his inspirational personal story was fabricated: his application and acceptance into the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
From the Daily Caller article:
the relevant passage from Carson’s autobiography:
At the end of my twelfth grade I marched at the head of the Memorial Day parade. I felt so proud, my chest bursting with ribbons and braids of every kind. To make it more wonderful, We had important visitors that day. Two soldiers who had won the Congressional Medal of Honor in Viet Nam were present. More exciting to me, General William Westmoreland (very prominent in the Viet Nam war) attended with an impressive entourage. Afterward, Sgt. Hunt introduced me to General Westmoreland, and I had dinner with him and the Congressional Medal winners. Later I was offered a full scholarship to West Point. I didn’t refuse the scholarship outright, but I let them know that a military career wasn’t where I saw myself going.
Dr. Carson was in Jr. R.O.T.C. in high school and racked up some impressive stats. As the mother of a son who also did Jr. R.O.T.C. in high school, I can attest to the fact that marching in a leadership position in a parade and meeting high caliber military personnel, such as Medal of Honor winners or General Williams Westmoreland, is part of how the military would recruit a promising candidate. For a seventeen year old from limited means, hearing that an exceptional education would be free, probably sounded like a full scholarship.
Watch the video from yesterday’s press conference:
That is the central point. With Liberal/Progressive/Democrat candidates, we are never allowed to question their credentials or stories, even the ones that are patently and provably false or horribly damaging. Such as Barack Obama and his sealed academic records, Frank Marshal Davis, Bill Ayres or Jeremiah Wright. Or Hillary Clinton and the Travel Office, Cattle Futures, Rose Law Billing Records, Sniper Fire, Benghazi, Emails or Sidney Blumenthal.
Now, if the press were to investigate and find out that Dr. Carson was not a Neurosurgeon and had not separated conjoined twins….that would be breaking news.
Go get’em, Dr. Carson. Hey, Donald Trump was that energetic enough for you.
