Dr. Joseph Ladapo is Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ Surgeon General. Dr. Ladapo has all the makings of a media superstar. He is telegenic and well-spoken, but he has one problem, he doesn’t support the narrative. You know, the Democrat Media Industrial Complex Narrative. Because he is a heretic to the narrative, he is also a charlatan. I know this because Mediaite told me so. This Mediaite headline is fully loaded: “DeSantis’ Antivaxx Surgeon General Blasted by Lawmakers, Colleagues as a ‘Charlatan’: ‘Sullied the Academic Reputation’ of University of Florida”. You might even say overloaded. Antivaxx, charlatan and sullied all in one headline. Yikes!
With an overload of hysteria-induced trigger words in the title, the opening paragraph continues apace:
Dr. Joseph Ladapo, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ hand-picked choice for the state’s surgeon general, has frequently made headlines for his controversial views on vaccines, and his colleagues at the University of Florida College of Medicine have “lost faith” in him, worried about how he might be damaging the university’s reputation, reports Politico’s Arek Sarkissian in a scathing profile.
State Senator Tina Polsky, a Democrat naturally, is the one who called Ladapo a charlatan:
State Senator Tina Polsky (D) previously tangled with Ladapo when he refused to wear a mask in her office shortly after his appointment. Polsky had just been diagnosed with cancer and was starting radiation therapy that week, but Ladapo still refused, claiming he thought a mask interfered with his ability to “communicate clearly.”
Polsky recalled Ladapo’s confirmation hearings as “really frustrating,” telling Politico he “never taught a class per se” and gave “typical word salad answers for everything” — and added she was unsurprised to hear about his colleagues at the med school being similarly frustrated with him.
“This guy is a charlatan,” said Polsky, “he’s not looking out for anyone’s health and he’s going to campaign with DeSantis.”
Charlatan? Dr. Ladapo received his B.A. from Wake Forest and his M.D. and PhD. from Harvard. Charlatan:
a person falsely claiming to have a special knowledge or skill.
He is a doctor. He is not a charlatan.
An anonymous professor said that Ladapo “sullied” the University of Florida’s reputation:
. One professor, granted anonymity, said that they kept getting emails “about doing more to help” with the college’s budget shortfall, “and then you have this guy who’s not doing anything…I don’t know what he’s doing but it’s not research.”
Dr Ladapo has undoubtedly sullied the academic reputation of the University,” the professor said. “He continues to detract from the incredible science and outstanding clinical work being done by real UF scientists and clinicians.”
Sullied? According to U.S.News & World Report, University of Florida rose in the National Rankings from 36th in 2021 to 35th in 2023. Sorry, you lose.
As to the charge of being antivaxx. The Media/Democrat Industrial Complex loves to throw that charge at anyone who questions the Covid Vaccines, like this from the article:
As Sarkissian reported, Ladapo was tapped to be Florida’s Surgeon General in the middle of the pandemic, selected for his vocal opposition to not just vaccine mandates, but to the vaccines themselves:
Ladapo has made headlines across the country for his contentious stances on Covid mandates and vaccines as surgeon general. He has bucked the medical establishment by claiming Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines are dangerous for healthy young men and warned people under the age of 65 from getting the most recent Covid boosters. He was also criticized for supporting hydroxychloroquine, the anti-malaria drug heralded as a coronavirus treatment by former President Donald Trump. A study later found the drug didn’t prevent Covid-19.
Ladapo was hired for a tenured position at the UF College of Medicine along with his appointment as surgeon general, a practice that Sarkissian noted was fairly standard — but “Ladapo had warning signs from the start.”
Oh my gravy, these people never give up. A treatment is not a preventative. It is completely unnecessary for many people to get the vaccines and may be dangerous.
There is this from The Madcow/Maddow Blog:
It’s worth noting for context that this is hardly the first controversy surrounding Florida’s surgeon general. Revisiting our earlier coverage, Ladapo has rejected vaccination guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and faced accusations about misleading the public. He’s embarrassed professional colleagues with his antics and urged the public not to trust scientists, physicians, and other public health officials.
Hip Hip Hooray! Those professions listed abused our trust and flat-out lied to us. I trust people who tell me not to put my faith and trust blindly.
This video shows why we like Dr. Ladapo.
By the way, I am still on the Trump Train, but I will vote for DeSantis if he is the nominee. Ugh. I hope not.
Mx. Bordson here is a specialist in messaging and communication.
Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Joseph Ladapo as the state's Surgeon General.
University of Florida admits the guy was never properly vetted & now (finally), more are speaking out about his anti-science stances & crazy positions on public health.https://t.co/FPVQ8dhK6f pic.twitter.com/FOPV34prdE— Susan Bordson (@susanbordson) November 27, 2023
Anti-science? These people couldn’t find their backsides with both hands tied behind their backs.

Democrats always get mad when their property escapes the plantation.
Even more so when that “property” encourages others to escape as well
hand-picked choice
As if other governor’s don’t hand pick their surgeon generals. Sure most probably have a committee that works through this stuff, but ultimately, it’s very often the governor who has the final say. (Otherwise he’s not much of a governor.)
(BTW, journalists love committees. Primarily because they’ve never had to work on one to actually produce their product, like most of us have at some point. Try and get them to write an article by committee – see how that goes over.)
“typical word salad answers for everything”
I sense some projection going on here.
I don’t know what he’s doing but it’s not research.
Hmmmm, more projection? Because there’s no evidence or facts here. Not even a real accusation. Just an assertion masquerading as a claim.
a coronavirus treatment by former President Donald Trump. A study later found the drug didn’t prevent Covid-19.
So, a blatant lie or an ignorant journalist? Because “treatment” deal with it once you have it, and prophylactics prevent you from getting it in the first place. (And, nota bene, the mRNA vaccines do neither.)
Also, HCQ is an excellent treatment, particularly when combined with zinc and an antibiotic (for the pneumonia aspects). I was advocating for it long before Trump ever did. And the Big Pharma captured CDC was against it long before then, too.
rejected vaccination guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
Well, you say it in the next phrase – it’s about misleading the public. And the CDC certainly was (and is). (And, it didn’t start with the Wuhan Flu. It actually started, at the latest, with Fauci’s lies about AIDS/HIV in the 80s, claiming it was not primarily passed among gay men and drug addicts. When he – ironically – rejected quarantines for those with AIDS.)
his anti-science stances
That really should be written “anti-SCIENCE! stances.” Because these are the people who worship … something that they call SCIENCE! but isn’t really science.
Most of the people claiming he’s “anti-science” likely have no understanding of the scientific method. Given the replication problem in scientific experiments/papers it seems even scientific researchers and doctors don’t understand it. The mRNA shots aren’t vaccines, they don’t meet the definition. Nor do the mRNA shots prevent infection. Given the lack of longitudinal studies concerning the mRNA shots approved for SARS-CoV-2, and the history of previous attempts to produce mRNA treatments for other things, it’s prudent to be skeptical of such shots.
Most of the people claiming he’s “anti-science” likely have no understanding of the scientific method.
Why I make that distinction between “science” and “SCIENCE!” One is real and a method for discovery of truth, while the other is really White Lab Coat worship. One is work, and the other is nothing more than a religion of received wisdom dressed up as smarts.
It’s SCIENCE when it comes to gender. Those who question THE SCIENCE are labeled phobists and incapable of understanding their TRUE SCIENCE.
If the mRNA Covid vaccine is not a vaccine then the most important vaccine of the 20th Century isn’t a vaccine either. The Salk Polio shot neither prevents infection nor does it prevent transmission. It merely prevents the disease.
No vaccine can prevent infection. They are not “invisible protective shields.” Vaccines prevent the infection from evolving into the disease.
I will give you benefit of the doubt and assume you equate infection with disease. If this is true then you don’t understand the difference but hopefully you now know.
No, you’ve misunderstood or I simply wasn’t as clear as I thought I was.
Vaccine: material (as a preparation of killed or weakened virus or bacteria) used in vaccinating to induce immunity to a disease. – The Merriam-Webster-Webster Dictionary 1974.
As I understand it, there is no actual virus in the mRNA shots.
As far as the mRNA shots not preventing infection, that was the claim that was being made across media platforms by various politicians and medical personalities when they were first released.
My dream for January 2025. Just after President DeSantis is inaugurated, one of his first appointments is Dr. Ladapo as US Surgeon General. But there should be some serious haz mat crews standing by, to clean up the mess from exploding Democratic heads.
