Department Of Education Cuts Workforce, Closes Offices

The Trump Administration and DOGE followed through with another promise yesterday afternoon, cutting the Department of Education workforce almost in half.

Upon sending half of the workforce home, to not return, the Department of Education also closed offices for security reasons; allowing those still employed to work remotely until at least Thursday as the smoke clears.

While Department of Education Secretary, Linda McMahon was sympathetic to the job losses, she made mention that positions were cut to reduce “bureaucratic bloat”.

The main narrative the left is pushing is the cuts “will hurt children with disabilities”. But McMahon assured Laura Ingraham last night that these programs will indeed stay intact. That did not stop Randi Weingarten from just about having an aneurysm yesterday. And National Education Association (NEA) President Becky Pringle sounded off:

Most of us believe every student deserves opportunity, resources, and support to reach their full potential no matter where they live, the color of their skin, or how much their family earns.

Donald Trump and Elon Musk have aimed their wrecking ball at public schools and the futures of the 50 million students in rural, suburban, and urban communities across America by dismantling public education to pay for tax handouts for billionaires.

The real victims will be our most vulnerable students. Gutting the Department of Education will send class sizes soaring, cut job training programs, make higher education more expensive and out of reach for middle-class families, take away special education services for students with disabilities, and gut student civil rights protections.”-Becky Pringle, NEA

Every student deserves opportunity, resources and support, says Pringle. Which is why taxpayer dollars were spent on this:

Education officials have awarded $1,002,522,304 in grants for DEI and SEL since 2021.

Nearly $490 million of that went to DEI and race-based hiring, recruitment, retention, and training practices.

More than $343 million went to DEI programming that includes trainings, restorative discipline practices, and youth activism.

Over $169 million was awarded for SEL programs and trainings.”-Parents Defending Education (PDE) report.

There was no accident that SEL became such a big part of lesson plans during pandemic and post-COVID.

The intention of SEL is to soften children at an emotional level, reinterpret their normative behavior as an expression of ‘repression,’ ‘whiteness,’ or ‘internalized racism,’ and then rewire their behavior according to the dictates of left-wing ideology.”-Christopher Rufo

Billions of dollars. To teach kids CRT-err-I mean, SEL (which does use the same benign language to get their point across). They will say that programs for Special Education will be taken away when in reality. there is already a shortage of Special Education teachers. And, let’s not talk about the increase in behavioral problems in schools post-pandemic, after some teachers’ unions decided that coming into a classroom to teach reading and math was a certain death sentence for, in some states, almost two freaking years.

Students get one shot at an education. Educators won’t be silent as anti-public education politicians try to steal opportunities from our students, our families, and our communities to finance tax cuts for billionaires. Together with parents and allies, we will continue to organize, advocate, and mobilize so that all students have well-resourced public schools that allow every student to thrive.”-Becky Pringle, NEA

That, they do, Becky. Don’t you think they deserve a bit more than they have received over the past few years? And, let’s get this straight. The bureaucracy stole opportunities from our students, our families and our communities.

Over one billion dollars squandered on progressive pet projects all while American students’ academic performance continues to plummet. Under Secretary Cardona, this organization has been a complete farce that has failed families and students time and time again. This will be the legacy of the Biden administration’s Department of Education.”-Michele Exner, Senior Advisor at Parents Defending Education

The reality is, American families have lost trust in the public education system. They have lost confidence in the curriculum rigor and in some of the teachers and administrators at these schools. Perhaps the Randi Weingartens and Becky Pringle of the education world-the ones who say they “care” so much for these kids-should have thought about the repercussions of a second Trump presidency before they brought Drag Queens into Kindergarten classrooms and soft-core porn into the libraries. Perhaps they should have looked at reading and math scores before spending billions of dollars on SEL. “Well-resourced” public schools start with sensible spending on the things that matter. You know, the basics. Without these basics, there is no thriving. Did some innocent public servants lose their jobs yesterday? Yes. But The Department of Education and those who created this “bureaucratic bloat” are responsible for this.

I have been looking at social media posts recently. This week, five years ago, was the last normal week our kids had at school before being sent home indefinitely. The bureaucrats and slaves to the unions robbed our kids of an education when they shuttered schools. I am thankful to God alone for my child’s resilience during this time. He weathered this crap storm. But the DOE, the bureaucracy and the unions did a number on our children. They robbed these kids of essential learning, socialization and relationships with their peers that comes from attending a normal day at school. They transformed the classrooms during this time and when students finally returned, they were afraid, insecure and questioning who they are and their worth as human beings. We have seniors in high school who cannot write their last names and binding documentation. We have a generation who wears masks because they are insecure about showing their faces. We have young men and women who are afraid to get out there, drive a car, get a job, go to school and do LIFE.

This is a tragedy. The Department of Education under Joe Biden was, in part, responsible for this post-COVID revamp of classroom learning and all of the bullsh*t spending on frivolous programs that came out of this mess. We have not forgotten. And, here we are.

Just look at the decline in curriculum from when I went through school to now. the number of classes in math, English, science and history have dropped significantly. All to make room for leftist BS..

Obviously “tax cuts for billionaires” is still one of the talking points they want to beat to death, not matter how big a lie it is.

Pringle talks about working with parents. would these be the same parents that Whinergarten worked with the biden DOJ to have classified as domestic terrorists?

The NEA is all about the union, NOT the children, and should be abolished! But cutting the DOE down to the basics is a start.

Public schools are funded at the state and local level. See, property taxes. The federal DoEd only funds certain programs that benefit The State.

I sure hope they keep it up! This is just a start, but a good one!

Every time education budgets are slashed, it’s the vulnerable students who get hit hardest. We can argue politics all day, but real students are the ones stuck struggling and many are left wondering, can I hire someone to take my online class just to keep up? I’ve seen classmates in online programs fall behind due to lack of support—and yeah, sometimes paying someone to take your class feels like the only lifeline. It’s not about cheating; it’s about survival when you’re balancing jobs, family, and school.
