Just when you thought that the Republican debate brought to you by CNN and Telemundo was the most pathetic piece of pandering possible, CNN and Univision brought the Democratic Debate to a new panderfest low. It was unwatchably awful. It was “awfuller, than all the awful things that ever were“.

The Democrat Debate between former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders was moderated by The Washington Post’s Karen Tumulty and Univision’a Maria Elena Salinas and Jorge Ramos (ugh!) in Miami. Miami’s huge Hispanic/Latino population made it a natural fit for immigration questions ahead of the March 15 primary election.

Jorge Ramos’ daughter works for Hillary Clinton and he did ask her about emails and dropping out if indicted, but

But, Mrs. Clinton lied and swatted that one away.

And, there was Lucia, a Guatemalan immigrant in the audience with her five children, who had not seen his their father since he was deported three years ago.

Maybe he was in the country illegally. Maybe he was here legally and committed a crime. How is this a United States problem? Luisa, the easy answer is to go back to Guatemala.

No, for shear disgusting, obsequious ugliness and irony, last night’s winner question was asked by Karen Tumulty.

TUMULTY: Secretary Clinton, you have known Donald Trump a long time. You have seen what kind of campaign he’s running. Secretary Clinton, is Donald Trump a racist?

Wow….talk about loaded questions. So, Hillary answered in her usual way: long winded and self-serving. And, for bonus pander points, she threw in a little Spanish lingo…”basta”.

Hillary dissolves into her odd giggle. Then, realizing the repercussions of the question, she hits all the buzz words like rhetoric, demagoguery, trafficking in prejudice and paranoia. Karen Tumulty nodded like a bobble head doll in agreement.

Bernie Sanders was the winner in this round. He doubled down on racism with the “birther movement”, which was, unironically, started by then Senator Hillary Clinton (D, NY) regarding then Senator Barack Obama (D, IL) in 2007.

Oh, Bernie, if only you had looked to your left and winked at Mrs. Clinton. You would have confirmed the game that is afoot.

Leaving aside the fact that Mrs. Clinton started the birther movement, how does Mrs. Clinton or Mr. Sanders have the right to claim to know what is in someone else’s heart and head.

They are politicians and it is a blood sport.

If you watched the panderfest last night, there is probably not enough eye bleach, Q-tips and Scotch to remove the panderslime from your head.
