OUT: Criminal IN: Justice-affected individual

California is second to none in following the latest Leftist diktat down the rabbit hole, regardless of absurdity. One-party authoritarianism, combined with outright bribery is Sacramento-normal. Indeed, if a citizen serf dare to criticize, Gov. Jerry Brown will huff-and-puff and scream about “freeloaders” and even pay for squads of goons to harass people engaging in legal political action.

Least you think this is confined to politics, first you must realize that for the Left, everything is politics. Including language. Illegal aliens are now undocumented immigrants, and convicted felons didn’t really do anything by their own volition – no, they are just another victim-class; one of the justice-affected.

Mayor Eric Garcetti announced today that Los Angeles has won a $6 million state Prop. 47 grant — the full amount requested by his Office of Reentry — to help give formerly incarcerated Angelenos the second chances they need and deserve.

Mayor Garcetti’s Office of Reentry, the first in City history, will use the funding to support a variety of comprehensive reentry efforts — including a year-long employment program to help stabilize justice-affected individuals, eliminate barriers to employment, and help them find jobs.

The grant from the Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) is part of a program that puts state cost savings from Prop. 47 — a 2014 voter-approved measure that changed some low level crimes, such as drug possession and petty-theft related offenses, from felonies to misdemeanors — into local programs that work to reduce recidivism.

“Los Angeles is the city of second chances — and people who have served time and are returning home deserve the opportunity to rebuild their lives, earn a good living, and break the cycle of incarceration and recidivism,” said Mayor Garcetti. “My Office of Reentry works to support justice-involved individuals by creating opportunities for employment, and this grant will help us do even more to bring families and communities back together.”

I could give you chapter and verse about the debacle called Prop 47 (along with “Prison realignment”, P57 & P64) but the bottom line is an explosive increase in crime.

What is important here, though, is that this new phrase shifts responsibility for any behavior from the individual to “the system”. Your car is stolen? Oh bad, so sad. That’s what insurance is for, let’s not let Justice affect this benighted individual too much.

Los Angeles and Mayor Yogapants already have banned employers from asking about criminal history on job applications, why not go the full Monty and stop calling them criminals?

It hurts their self-esteem, you know.

Up is down, black is white, and if you’re law-abiding, shut up, pay your taxes and make sure your insurance is paid up.

Wasn’t it the movie Goldfinger, where he wanted to detonate explosives along the San Andreas fault, sink silicon valley, and break loose the rest of Califonia??? Kinda wish James Bond hadn’t stopped him about now…

Nooo, that was Lex Luthor in one of the Superman movies. Goldfinger was going to irradiate Fort Knox to make his gold stores more valuable (and steal a bunch while he was at it).
