CNN Plays Trump Classified Document Tape – Walls Close In

Are the walls closing in? Maybe. Maybe not. There are a lot of Democrats, Never Trumpers, and toffee-nosed Republicans who would love nothing more than to have the walls close in, the jail bars close and Donald Trump never to be heard of or written about again. I kind of wanted to raise their hopes with that title. It is true that CNN has obtained a two-minute tape of Trump discussing documents and their status as classified, I think. Just so you know, I still intend to vote Trump in the Republican Primary, because I no longer give a farthing if he violated every standard of decency known to the Western world.

The tape recording, first played on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360, was apparently made during a 2021 meeting at Trump’s Bedminster, New Jersey club. The discussion apparently was during research for Mark Meadow’s book, The Chief’s Chief. This tape, and possibly more of them, has been discussed as evidence obtained by Persecutor Jack Smith, since early June, but interesting it was leaked to CNN. We are not surprised by the Trump Indictment or the leak to CNN. Here is the two-minute recording:

Here is a sort of transcript of the CNN tape:

“Like when Milley is talking about, ‘Oh you’re going to try to do a coup.’ No, they were trying to do that before you even were sworn in,” the staffer says, according to the audio.
The next part of the conversation is mostly included in the indictment, though the audio makes clear there are papers shuffling as Trump tells those in attendance he has an example to show.
“He said that I wanted to attack Iran, Isn’t it amazing?” Trump says as the sound of papers shuffling can be heard. “I have a big pile of papers, this thing just came up. Look. This was him. They presented me this – this is off the record but – they presented me this. This was him. This was the Defense Department and him.”
The indictment includes ellipses where the recording obtained by CNN shows where Trump and his aide begin talking about Clinton’s emails and Weiner, whose laptop caused the FBI to briefly re-open its investigation into her handling of classified information in the days before the 2016 election she lost to Trump.
Trump then returns to the Iran document, according to the audio recording and indictment transcript.
“I was just thinking, because we were talking about it. And you know, he said, ‘He wanted to attack Iran, and what…,’ ” Trump says.
“These are the papers,” Trump continues, according to the audio file.
“This was done by the military and given to me,” Trump continues, before noting that the document remained classified.
“See as president I could have declassified it,” Trump says. “Now I can’t, you know, but this is still a secret.”
“Isn’t that interesting,” Trump says.
While that’s the last line included in the indictment, the audio recording obtained by CNN includes several additional lines from the conversation:
Trump: “It’s so cool. I mean, it’s so, look, her and I, and you probably almost didn’t believe me, but now you believe me.”
Writer: “No, I believed you.”
Trump: “It’s incredible, right?”
Writer: “No, they never met a war they didn’t want.”
Trump: “Hey, bring some, uh, bring some Cokes in please.”

I could argue that we do not know the provenance or chain of custody for this tape, but it sounds so Trumpian. Especially the last line about getting some Cokes. It also sounds real in terms of the puffing that interns or research assistant type people do around the Big Boss, male or female. They all try to flatter and puff the boss. But, this part sounds like a joke. Like they were doing a wink wink thing:

“These are the papers,” Trump continues, according to the audio file.
“This was done by the military and given to me,” Trump continues, before noting that the document remained classified.
“See as president I could have declassified it,” Trump says. “Now I can’t, you know, but this is still a secret.”

That sounds like Trump joking, just like when he asked Russia to investigate Clinton’s Emails, remember?

Trump was being sarcastic and flippant. The elitist prigs who hate Trump, who get violently ill at the sight or sound of him have no sense of humor or of the absurd. S.E. Cupp is one of those elitist prigs:

The only reason any of these twats listen to Jack Smith, the Grand Inquisitor of the Uniparty, is because he is on their side.

Are the walls closing in mebbe. The Uniparty has worked so hard for nearly eight years, they ought to get something, but I pray that they get their hands caught in the mousetrap again and again and again. I’m evil like that.

The judge ordered Trump not to discuss any trial evidence but apparently the Special Counsel is free to leak evidence.

  • Cameron says:

How many times have we heard “THE WALLS ARE CLOSING IN!!” It’s as adorable as it is predictable.

  • MarkInKansas says:

The walls are not closing in. The document under discussion in the leaked audio recording was not found at Mar-A-Lago. Trump’s spokespeople said Trump’s comments about that document were comments used to explain how and when he had complete authority to decide what is classified and what is declassified.

The question still remains, after the successes Trump had in the first 2 1/2 years of his presidency, then ruined by COVID and later Biden, why are they so against the possibility of ever greater successes? All one has to do is compare now with four years ago just as COVID hysteria lockdowns began and ask that age old question Are you better off now than then and why do the powers that be want us worse off?

    • Cameron says:

When you realize that the powers that be want this country destroyed and taken down a few pegs, your question is answered quickly.

  • Taylor says:

If Trump regains the presidency (Spoiler Alert – that will never happen) be prepared for four more years of this.

  • GWB says:

I don’t think the words you point to sound like Trump was joking. (I certainly don’t think it makes the point they think it does, though.)
Mark answered my question: were those documents found? If not, then the tape is entirely exculpatory, IM-NAL-O.
And, of course, it also demonstrates how those Executive branch employees were insubordinate to their CINC. Heads should have rolled for that.
