Most Chicago politicians, and I include Illinois politicians as well, are shamefully silent over Sheridan Gorman’s murder.
Sheridan and several of her friends were walking along Chicago’s lakefront when they were accosted by an illegal, and Sheridan was murdered.
An illegal Venezuelan migrant accused of executing a Loyola University Chicago freshman from New York entered the US under the Biden administration, and was released under Chicago’s sanctuary city laws before the killing, the Department of Homeland Security said Sunday.
Jose Medina-Medina, 25, allegedly murdered 18-year-old Sheridan Gorman early Thursday morning while she walked along the Chicago lakefront with her friends, according to a DHS release obtained by Fox News.
The illegal alien was caught and released at the border under President Joe Biden’s administration in May 2023, according to the DHS.
Medina-Medina was also previously released from local custody in Chicago— a sanctuary city — just a month later after he was arrested for shoplifting from Macy’s.
That’s right. He should’ve been deported the first time. But noooo… sanctuary city policies prioritize illegal criminals above American citizens. Governor JB Pritzker tried this stunt a few months ago.

That’s a pretty big rake there buddy boy.
Meanwhile, another Chicago politician did speak up about Sheridan’s death. Was she sympathetic and outraged by what happened? No. Instead she literally blamed Sheridan and her friends.
A progressive Chicago Democrat is taking a ton of heat for suggesting that a Loyola University Chicago student who was allegedly executed by an illegal migrant caused her own murder — and that she was “in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
Chicago Alderwoman Maria Hadden was speaking after Sheridan Gorman, an 18-year-old from Yorktown, New York, was shot dead Thursday morning while she walked with friends along the city’s lakefront near campus.
Hadden said the deadly shooting appeared to be a case of Gorman being “in the wrong place at the wrong time, running into a person who had a gun,” in an interview with Fox 32 Chicago.
“They might have unintentionally startled this person at the end of the pier,” she added. “We don’t believe there is cause for broader community concern.”
I can’t write what I’m thinking right now about Hadden, who is literally asserting that Sheridan’s murder is the equivalent of ‘her skirt was too short, so she asked for it.’
The remarkable thing about this is the casual dehumanization of the perpetrator. She's like a park ranger talking about an endangered species of wild animal, and was just doing what that species does when somebody invades its protected habitat https://t.co/LkL4dADLJc

Witness accounts say otherwise as reported from DHS via Bill Melugin.
DHS identifies the suspect as Venezuelan national Jose Medina-Medina. Medina-Medina is accused of approaching Gorman while she was walking in a park with friends early Thursday morning.
DHS says Medina-Medina came up to her while wearing a mask and armed with a gun. As she attempted to flee, he fired his gun and shot her. Gorman was shot and pronounced dead at the scene.
The murderer wasn’t startled at all. He STALKED the girls and murdered Sheridan when she tried to run. Rightfully so, Sheridan’s family is angry at Hadden, and at the sanctuary city policies that set this tragedy in motion.
“We acknowledge the arrest of the individual accused of taking our daughter’s life and thank the Chicago Police Department, Area Three Detectives, and all those involved in the investigation who worked quickly to identify and apprehend him. Their efforts matter. But this is not justice—it is the first step toward it,” the statement read in part. “What Sheridan was doing that night—walking with friends near her campus—was normal. It was safe. It is what students do every day. We will not allow this to be dismissed as ‘wrong place, wrong time.’ This was not random misfortune. This was a violent and preventable act.”
The family also addressed information released by federal authorities regarding the accused’s prior encounters with the system.
“We are gravely disappointed by the policies and failures that allowed this individual to remain in a position to commit this crime. When systems fail—whether through release decisions, lack of coordination, or unwillingness to act—the consequences are not abstract. They are real. And in our case, they are permanent.,” the statement continued.
Oh that’s just great. He has tuberculosis to boot. How much do you want to bet that the media will suddenly bury that inconvenient fact?
JB Pritzker’s office did issue a statement last night.
J.B. Pritzker's office just broke their silence on the murder of 18-year-old Sheridan Gorman in Chicago by a previously arrested illegal alien in which they condemn the Trump admin for "politicizing heinous tragedies."

Pathetic. pic.twitter.com/NcxxhFG6Fi
How dare we be outraged over Sheridan Gorman’s murder? How dare we call out Chicago and Illinois sanctuary city policies that led up to this? That’s what Pritzker’s statement is saying. They want us to quit making crimes committed by illegals a political thing!
If Medina-Medina had been deported the first time and kept OUT of this country, Sheridan Gorman would be alive. That’s the plain truth of the matter.
People here illegally are being prioritized over American citizens. The shameful whining about being mean to illegals and/or silence by most of the Chicago Democrats speaks volumes. Are Chicagoans listening yet?
As a father, I grieve for Sheridan’s parents for this unspeakable tragedy.

This was a failure of not holding criminal migrants accountable and not protecting the public—and another tragic reason why I was the Dem lead on the Laken Riley law. https://t.co/1PnSjcPT4M
Sheridan Gorman’s voice was permanently silenced because of Chicago’s shameful sanctuary city policies. You’re darned right we’ll make this political.

“in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
Alderwoman Hadden, was her skirt too short as well? Was she “dressed provocatively”? Don’t hold back, tell us more on how this woman is to blame for her own murder. People like you are a huge reason your city is the liberal shithole it is. You allow this, encourage it every time you side with criminal illegal aliens. You are the reason ICE has to surge “sanctuary cities” and clean up the mess you made. I hope crimes like this never strike close to your home, to your family. Unfortunately, that is the only way you’ll learn just how stupid you are. Good luck.
“crimes committed by illegals a political thing” rope please
