We all knew it was only a question of time until the illegal immigrant children (and other less desireable immigrants) were relocated to places further north than California. When a fellow blogger alerted her friends that their city had been selected as the Feds new dumping ground, I logged onto  the www.numbersusa.com map of where the Federal Government has been relocating border surgers and sure enough there was a red triangle hovering our fair city. That was two weeks ago. The governor of Oregon finally issued a statement about the relocation of illegal border surgers into our state THIS MORNING.  Local news reported:

“Gov. John Kitzhaber said the immigrant children from the Mexican border who have been relocated this year in Oregon are welcome.

He says the state will continue to welcome children fleeing hardship and violence while waiting for Congress to change immigration policies.

“These children are fleeing their homelands because of overwhelming violence and economic hardship, and they do not deserve to become political fodder,” Kitzhaber said. “Oregon has been a welcoming home to unaccompanied minors and refugee children, and will continue to be so while we wait on Congress to adopt more responsible immigration policies.”

So far 50 children have been relocated to Oregon with the help of Morrison Child and Family Services, for which the 501c3 has received $3.7 million so far this year from the Federal Government. If you think that is incredible, put down that coffee mug-since 2010 they have received a whopping $16.5 million in “grants” for residential services for unaccompanied children.

That is brilliant when our largest city in the state has a child sex trafficking problem that has been described as “an epidemic that demands action” by U.S. Attorney for the District of Oregon, Amanda Marshall. How many of these kids are going to end up being exploited by the gangs that are running prostitutes in our city?

One has to wonder what other problems they are bringing with them. While discussing this sorry state of affairs with my sister, who lives on the border, she mentioned that the local news there has instituted a “Whats Going Around” report on the local news. Yes, that is right it is a weekly run down of the most current infections being passed around the San Diego metro area. This has been a staple in the Southern California border area for many years evidently.

One thing that I wonder about, and that concerns me greatly, is that the Pacific Northwest has a problem with pertussis (whooping cough) anyway with our most recent outbreak occuring in 2012 when 294 cases of pertussis were reported in the state, an increase of 182 cases over 2011. Washington had an even worse epidemic during the same  period, reporting 1,738 cases in 2012, an increase of 1, 590 cases over the previous year.

If you think that you can trust your local doctor to give you the straight story on how to protect yourself and your family with vaccinations-don’t count on it. Remember just a month ago Fox News writer Todd Starnes broke the story about the doctors at the refugee camp for border surgers at Lackland Air Force Base being warned to stay quiet about the diseases prevelant among border crossers or face arrest. I think that the same thing may be occuring in our state since a local doctor refused to look me in the eye recently when I asked him if I should get a pertussis booster to protect myself from the surgers being introduced into our city, when he answered that those stories were “hysteria” and that most of the countries the crossers are coming from vaccinate. Cold comfort when we also know that there has been a screening problem and children who are sick have knowingly been shipped across country on planes.

But, really are we shocked? No, unfortunately we are not. We knew it was just a matter of time until our Governor sold our state out and put children at risk-both those who are coming here and those who are citizens.
