Another day ending in “y,” another request by the House Oversight Committee regarding communications by Joe Biden to the National Archives.
Today’s bombshell is a doozy, and starts implicating some more people. Let’s start with the letter that Representative James Comer, chair of the House Oversight Committee, sent to the National Archives requesting some very specific communications from then-Vice President Biden’s office regarding Hunter Biden and his connections to Burisma – and directly quoting a staff member who states that Joe had “signed off” on specific quotes to be used in media communications.
Remember that Biden said he had NO involvement at all with Hunter's business dealings.
This seems to prove that was a lie, if confirmed. https://t.co/jM1WNCuegf

The long form tweet summarizes the letter to NARA this way:
In one example, on December 4, 2015, Eric Schwerin, a longtime Biden family business associate, wrote to Kate Bedingfield in the Office of the Vice President, providing quotes the White House should use in response to media outreach regarding Hunter Biden’s role in Burisma.
Later that day, Ms. Bedingfield responded to Mr. Schwerin saying, “VP signed off on this[.]”
According to Devon Archer, after a Burisma board of directors meeting in Dubai on the evening of December 4, 2015, Hunter Biden “called D.C.” to discuss pressure that Burisma asked him to relieve.
In the letter to the U.S. Archivist, Chairman Comer is requesting the documents and information below regarding communications between the Office of the Vice President and Hunter Biden or his business associates.
◾️ Complete and unredacted versions of all documents from Records on Hunter Biden, James Biden, and their Foreign Business Dealings, Case Number 2022-0121-F;
◾️ All documents and communications to or from the Executive Office of the President (including but not limited to the Office of the Vice President) to, from, copying or regarding Eric Schwerin, Devon Archer, Vuk Jeremic, John Robinson “Rob” Walker, or Jeffrey Cooper;
◾️ All documents and communications to or from Kate Bedingfield, Michael Carpenter, Kathy Chung, Amos Hochstein, Colin Kahl, and Alexander Mackler to, from, copying or regarding Hunter Biden or James Biden; and
◾️ All executive calendars created for then-Vice President Joe Biden dating from January 20, 2009 to January 20, 2017.
The name to pay attention to in this letter that raises the most eyebrows is that of Kate Bedingfield. For those who have been watching the unhealthy revolving door between political staff and media, Bedingfield being implicated is significant. Bedingfield has been with Joe Biden for years, all the way up to being White House Communications Director early on in his term. However, she left the administration to become… wait for it… a paid political commentator on CNN as of this last July.
Hey, Congressman Comer? I have an idea. SUBPOENA KATE BEDINGFIELD. Have her testify before the House Oversight Committee. Even if she doesn’t answer questions by dodging or obfuscating, or ends up pleading the Fifth to avoid talking, she is no longer a part of the Biden administration. Now, she is probably supremely loyal to Biden and would not give the committee much of anything. But making her confirm her own emails would be quite a sight, and then letting her play stupid about what she remembers would be very telling.
And we know that Comer doesn’t have a problem issuing subpoenas. He just sent out six of them yesterday. This time, his target is the Secret Service, under the direction of the Department of Homeland Security, and Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

Comer sent a total of six subpoenas Tuesday— one directed to Secretary Mayorkas for documents; and five for depositions—two to Secret Service officials and three to DHS officials.
“The Department of Justice initiated the Biden family coverup and now DHS under the leadership of Secretary Mayorkas is complicit in it,” Comer told Fox News Digital. “Investigators were never able to interview Hunter Biden during the criminal investigation because Secret Service headquarters and the Biden transition team were tipped off about the planned interview. This is just one of many examples of the misconduct and politicization during the Department of Justice’s investigation.”
Comer subpoenaed the director of oversight for DHS’ Office of Legislative Affairs, K. Shiek Pal, to testify before the committee; along with assistant secretary to OLA Zephranie Buetow; and DHS senior advisor to the general counsel Stephen Jonas.
Comer also subpoenaed the assistant director of the Secret Services’ Intergovernmental and Legislative Affairs office, Vincent Tutoni, and the acting special agent in charge of the congressional affairs program for the Secret Service, David McKeown, to testify before the committee.
Look, it’s clear that Comer and the Republicans on House Oversight are trying their best to get every scrap of evidence within their reach. But at some point, we should all be asking “what IS the point?” There needs to be an impeachment inquiry. At what point does House Oversight say to Speaker Kevin McCarthy, “make it happen”? It would be great if there was a smoking gun, but the bread crumbs leading us through the forest are enough to get started on, even if the press doesn’t want to believe it.
Actions speak louder than words, Congressman Comer. It’s time to make something happen.
