America 250 And Matthew McConnaughey!

Texan actor Matthew McConaughey gives America 250 a big “Howdy” with an inspiring and well-thought patriotic speech. It is only a couple minutes of (what used to be thought of as) non-partisan words of congratulations on making it this far. Here is to the kids running barefoot tonight.

Few actors have great voices and also know how to use their voices. Mr. McConaughey is such an actor. If you have seen his commercials, you know. He has always been good looking and is aging well. Be still my beating heart. Anyhoo. Here is the Fox News Channel write up on this spectacularly beautiful video:

Matthew McConaughey is amping people up ahead of the 4th of July.

America’s 250th birthday is on Saturday, and I can guarantee you the celebrations will be fun, wild and full of patriotism.

I hope you already got your grill supplies and beer on ice. Failure to prepare is preparing to fail, and that’s not acceptable for Independence Day.

McConaughey certainly appears ready.

Ready for a McConaughey “Howdy America 250”?

The video is simple, no quick cuts, no overdubs, no music. I don’t know if Mr. McConaughey wrote the script himself, or if he memorized it or read it from a teleprompter. The words are passionate and fluid. Whoever wrote this is a wordsmith. McConaughey graduated from University of Texas Austin but that doesn’t mean he is even literate.

Whoever wrote this script, it is spectacularly beautiful. Here are some of lines from FNC:

So, here we are today lighting the fire, breaking the bread, raising a glass to our family and friends, and maybe even the neighbor we don’t agree with. Today, we’re going to let the kids run barefoot after dark, baby. That’s the celebration. Not that we’ve arrived anywhere, but to the fact we’re still on our way. Take inventory, with the one in the mirror and together. Here’s to more dancing in the home of the brave. Happy 250th, America. Just keep living.

There were those who posted on X that they disagree with this America 250 take. Mr. Irv Kaage IV of The Spiritual Mind does not believe in modern life at all.

Freedom can never be a “very convenient abstraction” ask those from any place in the world how they cope with rent, healthcare, debt, wages, food, and childcare. At some point, most of us have had to decide against healthcare to pay rent or put ourselves in big trouble by deciding to stay home rather than paying for childcare. This is not an American issue. This is a worldwide issue. Harder when a dictator has his boot on your neck. Harder when there is not freedom of movement to leave a higher cost area. Harder still when you live anywhere but the United States of America.

“Rhetoric aimed at the promise of America is easy. But guess what . . . young couples are no longer having children.”

There are many reasons for not having children. Chief reason is the common belief that they are not affordable. Having no faith in God is another. Having a child is the greatest miracle of life that God can give a couple. That miracle opens a person up to more miracles of life.

Matthew McConaughey doesn’t have to spell that out for you. America doesn’t spell the details out either.

Here are McConaughey’s words from The Wrap:

Matthew McConaughey delivered a patriotic, inspiring speech ahead of America’s 250th celebration.

Ahead of the Fourth of July and the nation’s 250th birthday, McConaughey sought to rally fellow Americans with a video message Friday. The actor posted a two-minute clip on social media explaining why he believes the country is great — and why there is no room for cynicism.

“We didn’t start this country on any kind of proof, we started it on a belief that was worth fighting for,” McConaughey said. “A wager that was worth betting on. An act of faith that a self-governing people could be something worth being and becoming. Here we are 250 years later – the bet’s still on the table, folks. We have not cashed in, and lets hope we never cash in. We need skeptics, yes we do. We do not need cynics. One cares enough to question, which we should, and the other ones already quit. We don’t need you.”

We don’t need you cynics. Be gone. We need those who question, not those like The Spiritual Mind who take a negative attitude.

Before he made his America 250 video, McConaughey made pro-Covid-19 vaccinations and pro-red flag gun laws. I am passionately against those. Those can be argued against on another day.

Argue tomorrow.

For today, let us fire up the grill and let the children run barefoot. Alright, alright, alright.
