Alvin Bragg’s Trump/Stormy Daniels Trial Delayed 30 Days

The Donald Trump criminal trial regarding Stormy Daniels, brought by District Attorney Alvin Bragg has been delayed for 30 days because the Southern District of New York failed to turn over thousands of pages of documents in the case. Of course, Bragg blamed Donald Trump for the delay. Bragg is such a pisher. Trump faces 34 criminal counts of manipulating corporate accounts to hide payments to disgraced lawyer Michael Cohen to cover the $130,000 paid to Stormy Daniels as hush money for an alleged sexual meet-up in 2006. Oy vey.

Just so you know, Miss Daniels has a new documentary out regarding the encounter:

The adult filmmaker makes the revelation in “Stormy,” a nearly two-hour documentary premiering March 18 on Peacock. It was directed by Sarah Gibson and produced by Erin Lee Carr and features interviews with Seth Rogen, Jimmy Kimmel, Daniels’ family and friends, and several journalists, including New York’s Olivia Nuzzi and Denver Nicks, who began a relationship with Daniels while shooting some of the scenes in the film.
“Stormy” details the moments before Daniels met Trump and all that has transpired since, including a $130,000 hush money payment, first reported by the Wall Street Journal, that prosecutors say Trump made to Daniels just before the presidential election in 2016. That payment eventually led to his indictment in New York last year for falsifying business records, with prosecutors saying it was part of a “catch-and-kill” scheme. Trump has denied the relationship and says he didn’t know about the payment, but his former lawyer, Michael Cohen, has testified that Trump ordered it.

Just let me make sure that I have this straight. A stripper, excuse me, Adult Film Star, Stormy Daniels, claims that she had a rendezvous with Donald Trump. Michael Cohen, a Disloyal fixer for Trump and convicted felon, paid Daniels the $130k and had her sign a non-disclosure agreement.

This brings us to Alvin Bragg, who committed to holding Trump accountable during his campaign and kvetch about the innocent people held at Riker’s Island:

From National Review:

Bragg is prosecuting Trump for allegedly falsifying business records related to payments to his former attorney Michael Cohen to reimburse him for paying porn actress Stormy Daniels $130,000 in 2016 to keep quiet about their alleged affair. Trump is facing 34 felony counts for what is typically a misdemeanor offense unless it can be proven that the defendant falsified business records to commit a different crime. Daniels alleges she and Trump had an affair in 2006, an allegation Donald Trump has denied. Trump and former first lady Melania Trump married in 2005.

Bragg has argued Trump violated campaign finance laws with the payment to Daniels, a federal offense not being pursued by federal prosecutors. The Justice Department opted not to prosecute Trump for the alleged campaign finance violations, and the Federal Election Commission has not pursued the case. Bragg is known for being a progressive, soft-on-crime prosecutor in typical criminal cases.

Now that we have the players lined up on our scorecards, last night the Associated Press broke the news that the case that was supposed to begin on March 25 is delayed until mid-April:

Donald Trump’s New York hush-money criminal trial was delayed Friday until at least mid-April as the judge seeks answers about a last-minute evidence dump that the former president’s lawyers said has hampered their ability to prepare their defense.

Manhattan Judge Juan Manuel Merchan agreed to a 30-day delay starting Friday and scheduled a hearing for March 25 after Trump’s lawyers complained that they only recently started receiving more than 100,000 pages of documents from a previous federal investigation into the matter.

All these documents are from when Federal Prosecutors and the Federal Election Commission investigated, but declined to prosecute, this matter. More:

Trump’s lawyers raised the evidence issue last week, though their court filing wasn’t made public until Thursday. In their motion, they made multiple requests. Among them, they asked for a 90-day delay, which would push the start of the trial into the early summer; that certain witness testimony be precluded; and that Trump’s charges be dismissed.

Prosecutors said they were ready to proceed to trial on March 25, but were OK with a 30-day adjournment “in an abundance of caution and to ensure that defendant has sufficient time to review the new materials.”

“Trial on this matter is adjourned for 30 days from the date of this letter on consent of the People,” Merchan wrote, referring to the prosecution. “The Court will set the new trial date, if necessary, when it rules on Defendant’s motion following the hearing.”

Merchan said his prior directive that the parties, including Trump, “not engage or otherwise enter into any commitment pending completion of this trial” remains in effect.

Bragg says that Trump’s attorneys did not ask for the documents in a timely fashion. Right, my Aunt Fanny.

The lawfare by The Left continues.

If we had a Dem controlled Congress, they’d try passing a law making it illegal to be Donald Trump. And as for Stormy, I’m going to be a bit harsh.

Hookers are supposed to go away once they’ve been paid off.
