Alan Dershowitz-Smart Man, Quits Dems, Still Doesn’t Get It

In 1988 a book named “Smart Women, Foolish Choices” was published. Proving that men can do anything women can, Alan Dershowitz has vowed that he is no longer loyal to the Democrat Party. Smart Man, foolish choices. You have to ask what took him so long, and why does he still not get it.

You may not agree with Alan Dershowitz, but he is inarguably a brilliant thinker. People who march lockstep with any group, always make me question, not their intelligence, but their “smarts”. I can believe that Donald Trump must be President #47 and still recognize his flaws. Dershowitz’s past refusal to vote for anyone but a Democrat was just flat dumb. Now, Dersh has made his new disloyalty to the Dems known. Just the News published: “Alan Dershowitz says he is no longer loyal to Democratic Party after Columbia protests” last night with the sub-head “Dershowitz, a Democrat who has been a major critic of President Joe Biden and the current administration, said his party has been an “extraordinary disappointment” because they have not been very vocal about the pro-Palestine protests at Columbia University.” Gee, Mr. Dershowitz what was your first clue? From the article:

Dershowitz, a long-time Democrat who has been a major critic of President Joe Biden and the current administration, said his party has been an “extraordinary disappointment” because they have not been very vocal about the pro-Palestine protests at Columbia University, which have been ongoing since last Wednesday.

“We’re hearing nothing from Democrats. We are hearing nothing from Chuck Schumer,” Dershowitz said on the “Just the News, No Noise” TV show. “We’re hearing nothing really direct from President Biden. He made a very disappointing statement. In the same breath, he talked about the demonstrators in passing and he said, ‘but you have to understand the Palestinian situation.’ No, you don’t have to understand the Palestinian situation. When people are calling for rape and murder and beheading. The Democrats are an extraordinary disappointment.”

“I am no longer presumptively voting for Democrats,” he said. “I’m gonna vote for whoever is the best candidate, that may include Democrats, but I have no loyalty anymore to the party.”

It wasn’t the tepid response of the Biden folks after October 7, 2023. It wasn’t the Ivy League Presidents unable to define or denounce anti-Semitism. This happened the night before Passover:

It certainly wasn’t the two decades of the BDS movement. There has always been a humming undercurrent of anti-Semitism in the Ivy League, but BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) against Israel gave legitimacy to anti-Semites and allowed them to come out in the open. It was almost four years ago that Columbia University passed the first open resolution to boycott Israel.

I am a Southern Baptist girl in East Tennessee and BDS bothered me. Didn’t Dersh see this coming? Democrats ARE the party of Iran and all her little hench countries and groups. More from Just the News:

Dershowitz also slammed college admissions and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies as contributing to the problems recently seen at elite universities.

“Many of the students [protesting] today are unqualified students,” Dershowitz said. “They were admitted because of DEI. They were admitted because Qatar and other Arab countries are paying for foreign students. These are not the best and the brightest students, they are the loudest students, but they’re certainly not students who are looking out for the best interests of America.”

The former Ivy League professor additionally claimed that Jewish students are being treated like “third-class citizens,” and that what has erupted in the country over the Israel-Palestine war is worse than the January 6 riot on Capitol Hill in 2021.

Every word true, Dersh. But you voted for Joe Biden. You knew this was what you were going to get:

Joe Biden really did say that there were “very fine people on both side”, Trump never did.

Alan Dershowitz is a very smart man who has made politically foolish choices. We need to cut this path off now. The road to anti-Semitism is littered with six million plus bodies. We can’t add more. Morally, we cannot. Come on, Dersh, fight this good fight with the good guys. The Republicans.

There seem to be four very distinct mentalities taking issue with the antisemitism on such open display in America, today:

    1. Die-hard Republican party-liners, who only take issue because it’s something Democrats are doing (an ally, in this case, but hardly a dependable asset)….

    2. Everyday Americans of any stripe and association, who are standing for the principles on which this great American experiment was built (best answer)….

    3. Jewish (hopefully soon to be former-) Democrats, who are finally waking up to the fact that their political party has abandoned any concept of equality in favor of a hierarchy of identity politics (the only other good answer)….

    4. Jewish Democrats still putting identity politics ahead of principle, just butt-hurt that they’re losing the popularity contest to murderers and rapists (a short-term ally, as well, but history ain’t on their side).

My guess is Dershowitz fits into #4, but all I can say for sure is that he’s not in #1.
