Last night during the State of the Union, the chamber got pretty loud at different times.

First, the Republicans refused to allow Joe Biden to pin any kind of Social Security or Medicare reductions on them – and they were loud enough that Biden was forced to improvise his speech to retract that claim.

But the Democrats got really loud, too – especially when it came to their full-throated support of abortion. First, Joe Biden lamented the loss of Roe v. Wade, and then vowed that abortion was of singular importance to this allegedly devout Catholic. Here were the lines, as written, for the State of the Union:

Here in the people’s House, it’s our duty to protect all the people’s rights and freedoms.”

Congress must restore the right the Supreme Court took away last year and codify Roe v. Wade to protect every woman’s constitutional right to choose.”

The Vice President and I are doing everything we can to protect access to reproductive health care and safeguard patient privacy. But already, more than a dozen states are enforcing extreme abortion bans.”

Make no mistake; if Congress passes a national abortion ban, I will veto it.”

And here is how Democrats reacted to those promises to “restore” abortion and to veto a “national abortion ban.”

That is a whole lot of applause for the killing of innocent babies – those same babies that Senator Chuck Schumer lamented that American women weren’t having, so we totally need illegal immigration to boost the numbers of the working population. But don’t bother trying to point out the problems in the Democrat argument for death. This value is so important that some ghouls were wearing their love of abortion on their chests. Literally.

And Senator Markey wasn’t the only one.

This is not about “controlling” women’s bodies (yes, WOMEN, because WOMEN are the ones who get pregnant and give birth). This is about not clapping like trained seals for the destruction of an innocent baby’s body. Abortion ends a human life. It stops a beating heart – that same cutesy little heart that they put on the abortion pin. And Biden, who once said that he wanted Roe v. Wade overturned himself, is conducting the choir of applause for murder.

Now, neither a federal law or a federal ban is going to get to Joe Biden’s desk in this Congress. And even if it did, the Supreme Court’s ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization has pretty clearly drawn the line that abortion is not a federal issue, and thus belongs to the jurisdiction of the states. Despite the best efforts of the left to find a legal loophole to create a federal right to abortion, this particular Supreme Court is unlikely to allow any federal abortion law to stand, be it an abortion ban or a law allowing abortions.

Why do Democrats love abortion so much that they are willing to stand up and cheer for it? I’m not sure I can understand the desire to kill an innocent, but that would be their argument. The left would claim that an abortion is not the end of a human life, but the disposal of a “clump of cells” that can’t survive outside the womb. But if that was truly their perspective, the Democrats would have supported The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act that the House passed in January, which requires medical aid to be given to any baby born alive after an abortion. But no. And their arguments against rendering aid to a living baby were just sickening.

I’m pretty sure that abortion is “detrimental” to the life of the baby in question. Who could so callously condemn a baby to simply die because the woman who gave birth to them intended for them to die? Why do we prosecute women who abandon newborns in trash cans or to the elements if that is the case? Because we all know that once a baby is out of the womb and trying to breathe, that baby has rights. The left likes to stand up for “human rights,” until that same right applies to a baby they wanted dead.

The Democrats abandoned the “big tent” on abortion disagreement long ago. Last night’s feverent cheering at the State of the Union shows just how far they have gone in the other direction. Abortion is no longer about being “safe, legal, and rare” to Democrats – it’s all about being “legal and on demand” to them now.
