It’s amazing that all the policies that have turned California into a dumpster fire are being eagerly embraced by Democrats in Virginia following Spanberger’s election. U-Haul is going to make a killing.

Virginia Democrats have decided that violent criminals are just misunderstood Virginia Dads and Moms and shouldn’t be terrorized by the thought of actually spending much time in ::::gasp:::: prison. The poor dears.

Within days of Democratic Gov. Abigail Spanberger being sworn in, members of her party introduced a flurry of amendments looking to end mandatory minimum sentences for various crimes within the state.

According to Jason Miyares, the former Republican attorney general, House Bill 863 includes proposals to effectively eliminate minimum sentencing for manslaughter, rape, possession and distribution of child pornography, assaulting a law enforcement officer and other repeat violent felonies.

Additionally, Democrats are also looking to remove the mandatory five-day minimum sentence for certain first-time DUI offenders.

No one seems to understand WHY minimum sentences were created in the first place. Sentencing ranges are created so there is always some discretion of the judge to tailor a sentence per individual circumstances — usually based on a report from the Probation Department after reviewing the facts and interviewing the people involved, including the perp. But the minimum is a floor, that protects not just the public but protects the integrity of, maintains public trust in, the court by minimizing judicial shenanigans.

And with this past year of rogue judges who believe they rule from the Oval Office, not the President, trust in our judicial system is teetering.

This bill from Virginia Democrats does not help …

“HB 863 is a common-sense proposal that eliminates the requirement for one-size-fits-all minimum sentences for certain crimes,” Delegate Rae Cousins, who sponsored the bill, said, according to ABC 7.

“This change would give the experienced judges in our communities more discretion to make decisions based on the unique facts of each case. As the General Assembly session continues, I look forward to working with my colleagues to pass this legislation and promote fairer outcomes in our justice system.”

Oh dear lord … Virginia Democrats so filled with hubris they can babble these trite, worn phrases like common-sense proposal and promote fairer outcomes as an excuse to let criminals do what they do with few consequences.

Is there any citizen in Virginia unfamiliar with the disaster named George Gascon? Or how crime in California exploded under the Trifecta of Democrat Insanity – “Prison Realignment” (AB109), Props 47 and 57? Repeated petty theft convictions that could send someone to state prison ceased to exist and flash mob robberies have become ubiquitous.

Stuff like this:

Hey, normies in Virginia, see what you have to look forward to? And it’s not like you don’t have your share of gangbangers, either.

Virginia law enforcement officials have reported an increase in gang involvement in every region of the state as they have become more sophisticated and well-organized. As of 2024, more than 33,000 violent gangs are reported to be criminally active in the U.S., as reported by the FBI. In Virginia, there are home-grown gangs and national gangs. Street gangs are typically involved in activities that break the law and accept violence as a method of operation.

Of course Democrats are pro-criminal …

Birds of a feather! But in case you look at “soft on crime” too hard, Virginia Democrats are going to beat you into the ground with a laundry list of new taxes.
