“Sons of dogs??!!” Well, that certainly caught my attention. It seems that Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has had enough of Hamas and wants them gone.
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas called on “sons of dogs” Hamas to “hand over the hostages” in a televised speech at the PA’s Central Council on Wednesday.
Abbas added that the “war must end,” citing that hundreds are dying every day because “[Hamas] doesn’t want to hand over the American hostages. Sons of dogs – hand over the hostages and end the matter.”
Abbas said the goals are “Returning the hostages; lifting the Israeli blockade of Gaza; stopping the displacement of our people in coordination with Arab countries; defending the ‘Palestinian cause.'”
First of all, that phrase is a massive and highly provocative insult to any Arab. Secondly, the Palestinian Authority has had quite a bit of trouble with Hamas over the years, and their October 7 attack and the taking of hostages has exacerbated the situation in Gaza. Third, it’s supposedly the Palestinian Authority who holds the power, but it sure seems that Hamas has had the upper hand…until now.
As we’ve written extensively, Hamas has been presented with multiple cease-fire deals and has refused every single one.
They are still holding 59 hostages, including Americans. It is thought that American Edan Alexander is still alive, but it is known that four other Americans aren’t, yet Hamas is still holding on to their bodies and that of others.
Is Abbas a fan of Israel or the US? Absolutely not as he was trained by Yassar Arafat. Yet it’s also becoming clear that he has major problems with Hamas. Why else would he very deliberately and publicly use a well-known slur to describe Hamas?
For Arabs, as I understand it, calling one another “sons of dogs” is akin to using the N word here in the U.S.
Why did Abbas take this tack? Well…
Abbas gave his speech during a meeting in the West Bank city of Ramallah at which he is expected to name a successor, part of efforts to answer international doubts over the Palestinian Authority’s viability at a critical moment for the region.
The PA leader has previously criticized the Hamas-led attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which he said gave Israel a pretext to destroy Gaza. Hamas led over 5,000 terrorists to invade southern Israel, killing 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and abducting 251 hostages.
Two weeks ago, the PA presidency similarly urged Hamas in a statement to “stop giving the occupation any excuses to continue its genocide.”
This is an interesting tactic for sure. Especially given that the Palestinian Authority is supposed to be THE governing body in Palestine. And they are, to the extent that it is their government that hands over all that sweet cash to the martyrs for the cause. However, it seems that there’s been some jockeying behind the scenes for power between Hamas and the PA.
Feels like a coordinated "repositioning" campaign, maybe at the behest of Saudi, UAE, etc., to set up PA as the new governing authority?

I will say, calling the entire Hamas organization “sons of dogs” is quite the bold move.

It certainly took Abbas awhile to get to this point. The question is, what will Hamas do in response? So far they’ve not directly responded to Abbas, that we know of. What they did do is continue their evil by releasing a video of Omri Miran, who is still a hostage.
Meanwhile, today after Abbas issued his “sons of dogs” insult, Jordan made this move.
Jordan’s interior minister accuses the country’s branch of the Muslim Brotherhood of seeking to destabilize the kingdom, as well as manufacturing and stockpiling weapons, after moving to ban the group.
Interior Minister Mazen al-Faraya tells reporters that “members of the so-called Muslim Brotherhood… are operating in the shadows and engage in activities that could undermine stability and security.” He adds that authorities found “explosives and weapons transported between Jordanian cities and stored in residential areas,” as well as covert missile manufacturing facilities and “training and recruitment operations” linked to the group.

Jordan bans the Muslim Brotherhood, a Hamas ally & Jordan’s largest opposition group.
Jordan closed down their offices & confiscated the group’s assets after arresting 16 Islamists trained in Lebanon to attack Jordan with rockets & drones
The West must ban the MB too! pic.twitter.com/WekoeRrbto
That…doesn’t bode well for Hamas. If Abbas knew that Jordan planned this move, that might explain his “sons of dogs” insult in his speech.
However, even as Abbas issued a very public insult to Hamas and is seemingly holding on to power by his finger tips, he is very culpable in the October 7 attacks, and had just raked in a lot of money courtesy of the Biden Administration.
So, while Abbas is raising eyebrows with his very specifically chosen insults against Hamas, I have to wonder what his end game is?
