I gotta admit, I cringed a bit when I heard what Dana Loesch said at CPAC about “legacy media.” Not because I find anything to admire about the media, but because I found the comment to be rather over-the-top. Your mileage, of course, may vary.

Here’s what Loesch said:

“Many in legacy media love mass shootings. You guys love it. Now I’m not saying that you love the tragedy. But I am saying that you love the ratings.”

Yeah, that’s a bit. . . harsh. After all, no decent individual, either liberal or conservative, wants more mass killings. And they certainly don’t love such events.

But CNN’s Alyson Camerota was infuriated. No, make that pissed. So on Friday morning, Camerota interviewed Loesch on that comment, and it wasn’t pretty.

Camerota probably needs a new set of pearls because she just clutched hers into dried powder. But where in her oh-so-sanctimonious hell does she get off criticizing Loesch when her network allowed this kid—yes, kid—to harangue a sitting Senator like this? Saying that he sees a gun barrel and a killer when he looks at Sen. Rubio?

If a conservative kid was this rude to, say, Sen. Chuck Schumer on Fox News, there’d be all sorts of hell to pay. Rightfully so, too.

Furthermore, who set up the Roman Coliseum atmosphere of that so-called “town hall?” Where Dana Loesch had to enter the arena like a hapless Christian about to be thrown to lions? And where the hostile audience screamed invectives at her, such as “murderer,” “child killer,” and “burn her?”

“I had no questions in advance. It was even weird the way they had us walk out because it was like entering like you were a boxer or like WWE. You were walking up to the stage and they had music playing. You had to walk in aisles with all these people screaming and you had to walk toward the stage. That’s how you entered.”

Moreover, while Loesch was hoping to have a conversation about solutions, she never got the chance. And she had to leave the arena accompanied just as she entered: with armed guards. She now says she wouldn’t have been able to leave without them. Because the crowd didn’t want anyone to ever die again, or something. #NeverAgain, you know.

“I had to have a security detail to get out. I wouldn’t be able to exit that if I didn’t have a private security detail. There were people rushing the stage and screaming burn her.”

So after that treatment, what did Alyson Camerota, the poor dear, think was going to happen? Did she think Dana Loesch was going to roll over in defeat? That Loesch would submit to her moral superiority à la Leonidas to Xerxes in the film 300?

We all know the outcome of that movie, don’t we? Leonidas never surrendered. Instead, he and his men died warriors’ deaths in defense of his country.

Likewise, Loesch will not be deterred in her defense of the Second Amendment, either. Even if it means hurting poor CNN’s itty-bitty feelings. They need to own their role in cranking this whole tragedy up to 11.
