Not all Men are bad. #MeToo went too far and backlash is brewing

Men are not all bad. #MeToo started out with the best intentions but mutated into a third wave feminist mess.

The New York Post has an article here that is worth reading for all of us. Kyle Smith dissects the unintended effects of this well intentioned movement that reduces men to brainless beasts and women to little snowflakes that need protection. Both of which are just ridiculous. And free speech happens people. Classifying all men as rapists or potential rapists has created a backlash that surprises nobody except the third wave feminists.

I am a wife, sister, cousin, daughter, granddaughter and friend to some amazing men. And they deserve better than the crap described in the article. And I know that there is a vast difference between saying stupid stuff and sexual assault. Perhaps the #MeToo bunch needs to be reminded of perspective? People can say stupid stuff. Consequences happen quickly in this day and age, especially thanks to Twitter and Facebook and people posting the most amazing things.

Men are scared, and feminists are delighted. But the urge to call out and punish male sexual transgression is bound to clash with an inescapable truth: We’re all in this together, men and women.

The feminists forget this basic truth. And I have to say slut walks and the vagina monologues make women nothing more than genitalia with feet. That is not #metoo. We are better than that. Men are not all out for sex and women are not either. Exposing predators? I am all for that. And getting dangerous predators in front of a judge to pay. But casting a wide net for any woman to go after any man who even gave her side eye? That is where #metoo and I part company.

I spent time doing rape crisis counseling. A lot of difficult late night conversations, some visits to the ER or YWCA to be a first step for women and men to rebuild their lives after a horrible event was my goal. Most of the ladies there had that goal as well. However the third wave feminists went full potato. I do not agree that the victim is entirely blameless. Teaching girls to be smart, value themselves and not drink too much and stay with a buddy would seem more feminist than the street theater or slut walks. But that would mean being an adult.

Stupid Feminist Tricks and men respond

Outraged feminists triggered by “Thérèse Dreaming,” a suggestive 1938 painting of a clothed pubescent girl by the Polish-French artist Balthus, demanded the Metropolitan Museum of Art remove it. (The Met refused, to its credit). Moms are dressing their sons in humiliating “the Future is Female” T-shirts. The women’s Web site Bustle banned the word “flattering” because it implies there’s an ideal shape for a woman, and we all know women aren’t interested in looks.

Oh come on Bustle. Flattering meaning that the outfit looks good on a woman and that is a good thing. Lane Bryant calls their clothes flattering. There are styles I will not wear for a reason: age, size or occasion. Flattering or girl try something else on works. But this is minor compared to the consequences of #MeToo being used for every unpleasant encounter.

Writing in The American Interest, Claire Berlinski calls the #MeToo movement “a frenzied extrajudicial warlock hunt that does not pause to parse the difference between rape and stupidity” and “a classic moral panic, one that is ultimately as dangerous to women as to men.”

Exactly. Perhaps the feminists may want to consider that they are hurting women in the workplace? Because their ideal workplace looks an awful lot like Saudi Arabia. And nobody with a working brain considers that a female friendly part of the world.

Ben Shapiro eloquently (as always) discusses the fact that #metoo mutated into this “guys talking smack = rape” crap. And the consequences for men and women.

Twitter says what?

Twitter commentary is pretty restrained which surprised me.

And on Twitter I found some uncommon common sense.

Pretty much have morals, treat people with dignity and respect. And don’t do stupid stuff. So simple even a third wave feminist can do it. Apologies to Geico.

Except in the feminist fantasy, it’s the men in burqas. It’s never been about equality for these feminists, but about POWER. Always.

    Heh.

But, don’t get invested in the “went too far” concept. It didn’t go too far. This was where it was always intended to go. The “metoo” bit was always intended to bring low all men. It didn’t go too far, it didn’t go awry, it went wrong – but exactly where it was intended to go.
