Another day, another shakeup of sorts in Washington D.C.
President Donald Trump reorganized his National Security Council on Wednesday, removing his chief strategist, Stephen Bannon, and downgrading the role of his Homeland Security Adviser, Tom Bossert, according to a person familiar with the decision and a regulatory filing.
Needless to say the crowd (read Media) is going wild.
Confirmed: Steve Bannon is no longer part of the National Security Council, per two WH officials

So that just sent audible gasps through the newsroom— Claire Boston (@claireeboston) April 5, 2017
Bannon remains chief strategist for POTUS and an adviser on nat'l security/for. affairs. But he will not be part of NSC, per WH sources

However, there’s more to the story.

NEW: Trump National Security Council reorganization:
-removed Bannon
-downgraded Bossert
-elevated Coats and Dunford

Quite frankly, when Bannon was given a role on the National Security Council, it was troubling.
President Trump and Bannon were blasted for that decision by many.
Rightly so, many in the foreign policy establishment had problems with Bannon’s presence on the National Security Council.
But supposedly he was put in place to be a “check” on Mike Flynn.
Bannon hasn't been taking part in NSC meetings. Saw his role early on as keeping an eye on Flynn, making sure Obama-era NSC was reshaped…

Doesn’t that strike you as odd? It seemed odd to me. Especially when you consider the fact that Bannon never actually attended a meeting!
This analysis via Fox Business is pretty interesting.

As is Steve Bannon’s statement.

Given what we’ve recently learned about Susan Rice as we reported here, here, and here… there may be some truth to what Bannon says.
Thus was this really a shakeup? Or was this the plan all along? Given Bannon’s statement and all that General McMaster is doing with the National Security Council, your guess is as good as mine.
Trump is noted for putting the right person where needed to do a specific task, then moving them when mission is done or circumstances change.
Don’t know if that’s what happened here, but it would make sense.
There is a certain type of chaos djt promotes. I suspect that sometimes it is planned and other times it is a consequence of his erratic nature.
