Protestors keep complaining that no one is listening to them. So they keep protesting. Some even think that more action is necessary, like property damage, rioting, and violence, to get people’s attention.
They are wrong. They have people’s attention, but unfortunately, because of the ill-considered methods they are using to protest, the consequences are more negative outcomes.
Take for example, the Ferguson Effect. This is the “theory” that police have reduced their policing in violent crime areas to avoid being attacked themselves, or most likely to having their every move questioned, videoed, and put up for public consumption on the evening news. Some criticize the Ferguson Effect as not being real. There is nowhere like Chicago to prove this criticism false.

This week in Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s city, a female police officer resisted drawing her weapon on a suspect who was high on PCP and eventually beat her so badly that she lost consciousness and ended up in the hospital. Two other officers were also injured trying to arrest the man at 10 o’clock in the morning. Why were they trying to arrest him in the first place? He was trying walk away after he ran his car into a storefront window. Surveillance video here.
So why wasn’t more force used, when it probably would have been justified? The female officer, a veteran of seventeen years on the force, said “[s]he didn’t want her family or the department to go through the scrutiny the next day on national news.”
Her colleague who visited her in the hospital said:
“As I was at the hospital last night, visiting with her, she looked at me and said she thought she was going to die, and she knew that she should shoot this guy, but she chose not to because she didn’t want her family or the department to go through the scrutiny the next day on national news,” Johnson stated. “This officer could have lost her life last night.”
Her colleague, Superintendent Johnson, said this is dangerous for all involved and that we need to change the narrative.
“This officer could have lost her life. … We have to change the narrative of the law enforcement across this country,” Johnson said.
As it turns out, once again, the suspect did not turn out to be PTA Dad of the Year.
The man responsible for the attack has “three prior firearms arrests and one conviction, as well as four arrests, following which he was charged with either resisting police, fleeing and eluding police or both.”
The account of the altercation is brutal:
As the female officer tried to place a second cuff on Huff’s wrist, he pulled away and punched the male officer in the face. That officer then deployed his Taser, striking Huff, but he pulled the prongs from his body and continued to struggle with the female officer, knocking her to the street. Huff then fell on her, injuring her shoulder.The best thing about this story is that no one died. But if a choice has to be made, the officer has every right to make this choice in her favor.
Huff repeatedly struck the female officer in the face before grabbing her by the hair and slamming her head onto the concrete until she lost consciousness.
The male officer then deployed his Taser a second time, but Huff continued to pull chunks of hair from the female officer’s head and strike her head on the pavement.
Additional officers arrived and tried to pull Huff by his legs, but he continued to resist. Another officer deployed a Taser for the third time.
The best thing about this story is that no one died. But if a choice has to be made, the officer has every right to make this choice in her favor.

I said, “In June of last year, Trump entered the race for president. In just a little over a year, Trump has single handedly defeated the Republican party. He did so thoroughly. In fact, he did so in such a resounding way that the Republican Party now suffers from an identity crisis. He literally dismantled the party. Trump even dismantled and dismissed the brand and value of the Bush family.
Trump has Obama petrified that Trump will dismiss programs that weren’t properly installed using proper law.
Trump has single handedly debunked and disemboweled any value of news media as we knew it—news now suffering from an all-time level of distrust and disrespect.
Trump has leaders from all over the world talking about him, whether good or bad. Trust me, powerful men who have been president before weren’t liked by the global community. I doubt Mikhail Gorbachev liked Reagan when Reagan said, “Tear down that wall.”
Trump has expressly disclosed the fraud perpetrated on the American public by Hillary Clinton. He has, quite literally, brought Hillary to her knees—if you believe that nervous tension and disorders offer physical side effects and damage.
Trump has unified the silent majority in a way that should be patently frightening to “liberals.”
As the press accuses Trump of being a house of cards, Trump has proven the press is the real house of cards. He has whipped up the entire establishment into pure panic. Trump has exposed them for who they are and worse, what they are. George Clooney was right when he said Trump draws live news coverage of his podium that he’s not yet approached. Thanks, George, you were perfectly correct.
What we see as headline news today are actually the last bubbles from the ship that is now sunk—meaning the standard news media, as a propaganda machine, has been exposed. They have no more value.
In the same way Trump asked the African-American community this question, I asked my friend, ”At this point, what do you have to lose?” We have mass cop shootings, riots in our streets, ambushed cops, double digit inflation, bombs blowing up in our cities, targeted police, #BLM, a skyrocketing jobless rate, no economic growth, privately owned land being seized by the federal government, the worst racial tension in my lifetime, no God in schools, more abortions than ever, illegal aliens pouring into our country, sick veterans receiving no care, and a debt that doubled in seven years to $19 trillion. Are you really happy with the condition of the current system?
One man has done all of this in one year—one guy, and on his own dime. And with everything I’ve written above, you believe Trump hasn’t done anything? You claim that you are afraid of Donald Trump? No wonder we’re in trouble. You can say that Trump is a lousy presidential candidate. That’s your right. Just don’t ever say he’s not effective.
That Megan Kelly, FOX News, CNN, MSNBC, Washington Post, Rachel Maddow, the Huffington Post, the New York Times, Raleigh’s News and Observer, the AP, Don Lemon, Jake Tapper, and many more, failed to implement their collectively orchestrated lie on the American people against Trump, is actually a massive testament to Trump. The press colluded pure propaganda to accomplish his demise … and they have collectively failed and miserably.
Here’s just one example of how badly America is injured right now. There are high school football players on their knees during the national anthem simply because the press used as propaganda to program those kids to do that very thing. But, these kids are mimicking NFL stars the same way the same kids chooses which brand of football shoe to purchase—they’re overtly brain-washed to do that very thing.
Now, we have a generation of children who hate America.
America’s problem isn’t that little children are on their knee in collective disrespect of America. Our problem is that America is on her knee from collective disrespect by Americans.
You can disrespect America all you want. But, it’s high-time you respect the silent majority. Because they’re not simply the “silent majority” as you’ve been trained to believe when Hillary calls them “deplorables.” The fact is, they are simply the majority. And now they’re no longer silent either. Donald Trump changed all of that, single-handedly and within one year.

The problem isn’t that she should have pulled her gun. It’s that she had absolutely no idea how to deal with a strong man resisting her coercion. In the video she is seen pulling on the man’s arm (she got one cuff on his wrist, and is pulling on the other end) like she’s trying to lead a recalcitrant mule down the road. She’s pulling as hard as she can – and it’s obvious that the man wouldn’t be budged even if he weren’t high on drugs compared to her frame and strength level.
This is a training problem. And it’s pervasive. Because of incidents like the Rodney King “beating” (imo), police are no longer adequately trained on how to manhandle a suspect. They don’t get billies anymore (trust me – those collapsible ones are good for a civilian to carry, but aren’t as effective as a nice piece of hickory with a handle on it). They carry tactical flashlights instead of 4-D-cell Maglights.
Proper use of a baton by this woman and the other officer could have subdued this man quickly. Come-alongs and take-downs use to be common parts of police training.
A little judo would have gone a LONG way to teaching this woman not to go strength-vs-strength, and instead to use the man’s strength against him. (For example, pulling away, then letting the man pull back might have positioned the wrists so she could cuff both.)
Yes, she might have been loathe to use her firearm. And I blame the idiots (BLM and the DoJ and the other racialists) that are responsible. But I also blame the police for giving in to those idiots over the years, such that most effective methods of dealing with a problem citizen/suspect have been eliminated – leaving no choices but pistols and tasers.
BTW, this training problem is also evident in the fact that police seem to be absolutely the worst shots of anyone who carries a firearm. The average cop gets NO actual training with his firearm beyond basic safety (and, sometimes not even that I guess) and the rounds he shoots to qualify. The police who do shoot well do so because they take their own time and resources to practice and train (and, often, were trained by someone else – like the military – before becoming police).
I would welcome any of the ladies here to school me on police training if you know otherwise. (Not just what your local department does, but what is done across the country.)
Jenny North says: Thanks GWB. I would agree that more training, more realistic training, more options, etc., is probably a good idea. I can’t speak to what law enforcement does currently, and I have heard that cops are bad shots. But, they don’t seem to be missing too much lately, according to the news.
GWB says: I suppose that I should reinforce it’s also a spinal issue. I mentioned that the other resources have been taken away because of bad (and often manipulative) press. If folks like BLM have their way, the cops will be down to using patty-cake to subdue offenders – at least if they’re of the politically correct color/race/creed.
Also, when discussing what police should and should not be able to do, remember that police should have no powers that an ordinary citizen doesn’t have. The only difference is their direct association with the state (so they can get warrants, build jails, etc.).
