Oregon is a beautiful state. From the dry deserts to the breathtaking coastlines, it has much to offer its residents. My family lived there for about twelve years. We still have many friends there. But three years ago, we just couldn’t take it anymore, and fled the state. Why? Because we recognized the state’s one-party rule evolving into intolerant totalitarianism. And the two most recent stories in its headlines have proven our move to be a wise decision. First, it was the heavy fine of an Oregon bakery who refused to bake a cake for a gay couple, citing their First Amendment rights to do so, who are now facing an unconstitutional silencing of their free speech by the State and a lien on the home where they reside with their six children. And now, this:
Late last night, local news network KOIN News 6 reported on this threatening letter sent home to parents. And it’s nothing short of Orwellian. Watch:
Never mind traumatizing children, “We will have order!”
Here’s a copy of the actual letter (click to enlarge):
Precedent set: Not only will DHS be sicked on the parents of children doing nothing more than exercising outside—remember those horrible, abusive free-range parents who dared to allow their kids to practice independence?—now they’ll be handed over to DHS if parents show up—gasp!—late to pick them up from school. No, we won’t make an effort to locate the parents. No, we won’t comfort the children. No, we don’t care if we irreparably harm your kids…unless we get caught, and then we’ll offer up some half-assed apology about how we might, you know, if we get around to it, maybe clarify…something.
Jay Remy from the Salem-Keizer School District, told KOIN 6 News the “principal feels awful and is apologizing for it. She will likely draft a new, corrected letter that will explain what went wrong.”
Oh, that makes it all better, then. And yet a principal, who didn’t threaten parents with legalized kidnapping, was recently fired for doing nothing more than practicing his right to free speech.
We are living in very dangerous times, folks. From the purge of everything Confederate Flag, to the activist SCOTUS re-writing law and our Constitution, to the disturbing surge in the polls of a self-described Socialist who’s running for POTUS. Were my child attending this school district, it would have been her last day. It’s time for another revolution. And not the Bolshevik kind, but a reinvigoration of America as our Founders intended her, replete with unabashed freedom of speech and religion, the unencumbered right to bear arms, small, unobtrusive government, a bustling economy, a fair tax system, and a strong, unchained military. If you’ve been too afraid to speak out, if you haven’t been paying attention, if you’ve just thought to yourself, “Someone will stand up eventually,” the time has come for you to be that somebody, lest we hand the greatest nation on Earth over to those who spit on our flag and wish nothing more than to see her irreparably crushed. It’s time.
“Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it.” –Thomas Paine
It may be time for another long break from sites like these. The endless torrent of stupid just makes my head hurt too much at times.
Mr. Jefferson’s tree needs fertilizing.
Indeed it does, Xavier.
Just for shits and giggles I posted on their Facebook page announcing a pizza party “if the kids are late will DHS be called”? I wonder how long that will stay up. I bet they cry to Facebook to suspend me. Whiners.
Heh!
