Mimosa, Bloody Mary, nice flute of champagne — or maybe a favorite tipple in your coffee. Make yourself one and join me at our own Algonquin Round Table, the spirit of Dorothy Parker abides.
Happy Sunday, dear friends! Our darling Darleen is on vacation this week. She has permitted me to host this Round Table in her stead. However, this is the first day of my birthday week and so we are having Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Brut Champagne. There’s coffee and tea, too. Also, we have bagels and cream cheese from Brooklyn, New York. They are to die for.
Just so you know, I did NOT talk to Senator Mitch McConnell late last week for twenty minutes. I wonder if he wrote Graham Platner’s rambling speech for him suspending his campaign, hmmm.
Have a sip and a schmear, then let’s discuss.
Don’t Nominate An Evil Clown Like Platner
On Wednesday night, Graham Platner suspended his campaign with a heinously long, rambling message. He did not withdrawal from the campaign until Friday with a vile message:
For Platner to remove his name from the ballot, under Maine law, he would have to submit a request to do so in writing and do it by a Monday deadline. When journalists started noting that there was a video up but no actual written request, the media started poking around.
Platner was going to withdraw from the race on Monday but ended up withdrawing late Friday afternoon.
And if this is what his truncated parting wishes sounded like, just imagine how bad they would have been if he had until Monday to finish them off. He managed to take no accountability again, didn’t mention his would-be opponent, GOP Sen. Susan Collins, or defeating her, and instead included a very slightly Bowdlerized vulgar message for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, a big ups for a “free Palestine,” and an obscure reference to a soccer team.
Oh, and more talk about how awesome he is.

Tim Burchett Weighs In On Mitch McConnell Mystery
My own Tennessee Congressman Tim Burchett spoke the truth about why we don’t trust the mystery surrounding Senator Mitch McConnell. As brought to you by The Daily Beast:
Tennessee Rep. Tim Burchett, 61, claimed there’s a “cover-up” going on as questions about the 84-year-old Kentucky senator’s health remain unanswered nearly a month after he was found unconscious in his Washington, D.C. home and given CPR.
“Nothing in Washington ever happens by accident,” Burchett told Newsmax’s Rob Finnerty on Friday. “It’s just a cover-up on top of a cover-up. And that’s why nobody trusts what’s going on in Washington. This whole thing is a farce.”
“How can you be critical of Joe Biden wandering around the White House looking for the soft-serve ice cream machine for four years when you can’t be critical of this? So yeah, it’s in our own party,” he added, appearing to reference a debunked video purporting to show the former president getting distracted by an ice cream truck.
snip–
“That proves my point about the deep state,” he said. “Washington, D.C. is just a large manmade sewer and we rarely stir it. We just let it sit there and stink and we don’t drain it. And this is what continues to happen time and time again. That’s why we need term limits. We need term limits, but they’re never gonna pass.”
Burchett and I are, apparently, two of the only people who didn’t talk to McConnell. Still, thank you, Congressman Burchett.
Could we keep the Viking Row, please?
There are more people in London, England than all of Norway. The Norwegians lost to England yesterday amid some dicey calls. The Norwegians were entertaining.
Norway just got ROBBED.

That’s going to leave a mark!
Kamala Harris spent a billion dollars in 100 days and lost, bigly. She is now beating California Governor Gavin Newsom:
Former Vice President Kamala Harris holds a commanding double-digit lead over California Governor Gavin Newsom in a newly released national poll of potential 2028 Democratic presidential contenders, underscoring her early advantage in a still-fluid field.
A Quantus Insights national survey conducted July 3, 6 and 7 found Harris leading Newsom by 17.6 percentage points among likely voters as speculation builds around the next presidential race. The result reinforces a pattern seen across multiple 2026 polls, suggesting Harris has established an early dominance among Democratic voters.
Someone is going to have to sit Newsom down and explain it to him verry S-L-O-W-L-Y.
It’s multipurpose.
This work takes a strong person, both physically and emotionally.
I am not strong enough. I do love to watch Katie Van Slyke with the horses, cows and goaties.
They are so precious. Katie has built a business through hard work. I enjoy following her.
Our Sunday Round Table time is through. It has been an absolute pleasure to be with you. Please be sure to have a slice of cake every day this week. Celebrate!

All the hoopla about McConnell, yes he’s the Senate Majority Leader, but nary a mention about Maxine Waters. she hasn’t been seen for quite some time. I’d say it’s odd the media is not looking into that but it is the democrat publicity department after all. And isn’t it grand watching microphones being shoved into the faces of all those who drooled over Platner’s nomination. Watching them flee from the mic’s is like watching rats scurrying away when danger appears.
