Democrats And Media Throw Tantrums Over Maduro Capture

The tantrums have commenced! The Democrats and media are whining about Maduro’s capture. How DARE HE capture a dictator who has ruined a country and funnels drugs all over the world??!!

Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores were captured by US forces during a “large-scale” nighttime military operation early Saturday, President Trump announced.

“The United States of America has successfully carried out a large-scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the Country,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“This operation was done in conjunction with US Law Enforcement. Details to follow.”

And on cue, in total lockstep, the Democrats started their tantrums.

They don’t mind that Maduro was indoctrinated in Cuba. They don’t care that he has run a country into the ground, one that is grappling with 130,000% inflation, and is providing oil to Cuba, Iran, and China. They have no problem with fact that he stole the 2024 election, and they really don’t care that his country is a major front for narco-terrorism.

I saw this new tantrum coming given all the yelling at the sky they’ve been doing about those poor drug-running sailors who’ve been turned into kindling over these last couple of months. Cry harder guys.

“Secretaries Rubio and Hegseth looked every Senator in the eye a few weeks ago and said this wasn’t about regime change. I didn’t trust them then and we see now that they blatantly lied to Congress,” Kim wrote on social platform X. “Trump rejected our Constitutionally required approval process for armed conflict because the Administration knows the American people overwhelmingly reject risks pulling our nation into another war.

“This strike doesn’t represent strength. It’s not sound foreign policy,” he continued. “It puts Americans at risk in Venezuela and the region, and it sends a horrible and disturbing signal to other powerful leaders across the globe that targeting a head of state is an acceptable policy for the U.S. government.”

Folks, take note here about whom they are supporting. The safety and well-being of their constituents? Keeping drugs out of their communities? To heck with all that. Supporting an actual dictator is how the Democrats roll.

Quite a few in the media are jumping onto the tantrum game as well. This from CNN.

Expressions of unbridled power don’t come blunter than abducting a sitting president from his capital in the dead of night.

President Donald Trump has shown in a 74-word social media post that he can act decisively, suddenly and perhaps recklessly, in pursuit of his varied and varying foreign policy goals, with little regard for precedent, consequence or it seems, international law.

The operation to take Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife from their heavily guarded location in Caracas to – presumably – face the American court system, does follow a predictable, albeit extreme, pattern for what the US calls a fugitive, with a $50 million bounty on his head.

But there is a grave exception here: Maduro is a head of state, whose nation is prey to various ongoing US political objectives. Whatever the indictments say, this will always feel political.

CNN goes on to make it abundantly clear that they favor Nicolas Maduro over opposition leader Maria Corina Conchado, who was just awarded the Nobel Prize. CNN informs us that Maduro’s narco-terrorism is bad, just not as bad as Columbia and Mexico, and are super sad that the young and elderly in Venezuela were exposed to big bad bangs and explosions during Maduro’s capture.

The Democrats and MSM are big mad that Congress wasn’t notified of this plan. They are ticked off that Trump did not go hat in hand to Congress for approval.

FYI to the tantrum throwers, Trump didn’t need your approval for this.

Jonathan Turley provides a little history as to why no one had to tell Congress.

This operation will be justified as executing the criminal warrant and responding to an international drug cartel, a very similar legal framework to the one used against Noriega. There is precedent supporting that earlier operation, which will now be used to defend the actions in Venezuela.

Presidents, including Democratic presidents, have launched lethal attacks regularly against individuals. President Barack Obama killed an American citizen under this “kill list” policy. If Obama can vaporize an American citizen without even a criminal charge, Trump can capture a foreign citizen with a pending criminal indictment without prior congressional approval.

In fact, courts ruled in FAVOR of the government in Noriega’s case, which certainly sets some significant precedent here. Furthermore, the fact that there’s been an outstanding arrest warrant on Maduro makes this case even stronger than Noriega’s case.

Two other things of note here. One, the Democrat tantrums are even funnier when you realize there were zero leaks…BECAUSE Congress wasn’t notified!

Two: Those who live in Venezuela, or fled to to Maduro’s dictatorship and bankrupt economy are absolutely THRILLED with his capture.

The MSM will largely ignore that inconvenient fact, and the Democrats will run away from it.

As I was writing this, President Trump along with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, SecDef Hegseth, and General Caine held a presser. Beege at HotAir has details, check it out.

The tantrums from the media and Democrats are illuminating, laugh out loud funny, and illustrate their priorities. Cry harder guys, we see you.

To all those both foreign and domestic who seek to destroy the United States of America, are you woke yet….

Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia was elected President of Venezuela in 2024 with approximately 2/3s of the vote. He was forced to flee to Spain by Maduro. Gonzalez should be immediately sworn in and the US and nations which recognized his election should assist in his setting up his government. That prevents a power vacuum such as the one the Barack Obama – Hillary Clinton policies created in Libya.

I will say that President Trump should have said ” precision ” or ” surgical” operation, I stead of ” large scale”, just to avoid giving rhe lefties a talking point..

Beyond that, kudos to a President that had the balls to get shit done, and a YUUUUGE BZ to the troops that pulled it off!

Ahhhh, sweet liberal tears! Excellent as both a low-calorie sugar substitute and gun lube!

You think they’re crying now? Wait till Cuba crashes. They will rend their Che T-shirts they have been lovingly storing since college next to The Beatles White Album.

The only reason that Cuba’s economy is functioning even at a subsistence level is the free fuel and oil that Maduro was sending there as payment for the Cuban security troops guarding him. Now those shipments will stop, and Cuba will descend into chaos.

When it’s looking bad in the Havana neighborhood, who are liberals going to call? Ghostbusters?

OMG Venezuela is a sovereign nation. You do realize that, don’t you? One of the whole points of the end of WWII was to prevent nations from just invading other countries willy-nilly. It sets a terrible precedent. I’m sure you’d be crying your own tears if another country invaded the US and took our president out. For a blog that goes all in on WWII iconography and whose writers seem to think they know so much about it, you clearly know very, very little.

Venezuelan drugs don’t come here, period. There’s zero proof of that. Besides, your dear leader pardoned one of the worst drug traffickers in the world, the former president of Honduras, who was tried and convicted in the US. This isn’t about drugs, it’s about oil and Trump and how rich buddies enriching themselves. The indictment was just a cover and will likely be thrown out of court.

What they did broke international law. I get the laws don’t matter to those you support and only apply to those you don’t like, but that’s not how it works. It’s also prudent to point out that toppling leaders has worked SO WELL for us in the past. Have you forgotten Iraq? How short your memories are when it suits you!

Plus your dear leader promised no more “forever wars.” If you think this is going to be so quick, then please, by all means, volunteer your family members to go and serve. I’m sure they’ll be back home by next year!

Bitter day man who never served says what?

    • Nina Bookout says:

Dear A reader; if there have been no drugs flowing into the US and elsewhere, then why did the Biden-Harris Administration issue an arrest warrant and place a $25 million bounty on his head?

We didn’t invade. Furthermore, if you want to talk about military incursions into other countries you should also look at Clinton and Obama for reference. Or Reagan re: Grenada

Obviously you are ignoring the fact that this was done to Honduras (Obama) and Noriega and no one yammered then about international law

We haven’t forgotten Iraq nor those whom we lost and those of our families who served multiple deployments there, in Afghanistan and elsewhere. All of them are damned proud of how our military performed on Saturday morning.
