The White House really had no choice. Joe Biden, as both President of the United States and the other candidate in this presidential race, had to speak publicly after the assassination attempt on Donald Trump.

And yes, it is being investigated as an assassination attempt. The White House did release a statement, but that wasn’t going to be enough after an event of this magnitude. So Biden got hustled out to give a statement. They didn’t even have time to set up teleprompters.

He managed two minutes and one question.

It was a dumb question to ask Biden if he thought this was an assassination attempt and then Biden just went full online grandpa "Well I dunno I have an opinion but I'm just following YouTube like you all…"

At the time that he gave this statement, we knew that there was at least one innocent person who had been killed. But there was no mention of that from Biden. He did say that he hopes to speak to “Donald” later, but he hasn’t been able to get a hold of him yet. Somehow, it doesn’t occur to him that this is the natural end result of the rhetoric that has been used for the last several YEARS.

The incitement of violence against Trump and the GOP by claiming "democracy" will end if Biden loses the election must stop.

This isn't a joke anymore. When you constantly compare someone to Hitler, you are giving the green light for people to do *anything* to stop them.

If it’s true that American citizens were shot in the crossfire of an assassination attempt on President Trump’s life, we must honor and grieve for them in our hearts.

And Merrick Garland, try to imagine you stand for America and not just your party, and do your job for once.

This is a very sad day in America, and we are beyond fortunate that we did not just have a repeat of 1968 all over again. And if the bloodied ear is an indication of where Trump was hit, we got DAMNED close. Every single American needs to realize just how BAD this could have been, and we still have innocent victims who were just attending a rally and were shot. The investigation had better be thorough and exacting. But after all the insane rhetoric that Biden himself is responsible for, his statement tonight rings VERY hollow.
