Ron DeSantis Buries Nikki Haley In Civil War Battle

Before y’all read this, I am still a Trump girl. Don’t get your knickers in a knot because I heap a modicum of praise on Ron DeSantis.

We were all just waiting. All of the 2024 Republican candidates have been taking turns boring the living Scotch out of us. Someone had to commit Seppuku or harikari OR someone had to shiv someone else. It may not be a fatal wound and Nikki Haley may linger, but the darling of GOP Corporate and the Democrat Party (one and the same, really) really stepped into a set up trap about the freaking Civil War. Then, Governor Ron DeSantis shivved her. Had to happen.

How on Earth can a former South Carolina Governor totally whiff a question on the Civil War? Any question on the Civil War? That’s like cocking it up when someone asks you if you like Fried Green Tomatoes. You don’t say yes. You wax rhapsodic over your favorite recipe. Your eyes get large over how you like Tasso Gravy and Grits with yours (Oh, drool). Someone asks you about the Civil War and you answer, “It doesn’t matter whether you call it “The Late Unpleasantness”, “The War of Northern Aggression”, or “The War Between the States”, it was about slavery. The rights of all humans to be free.”

Duh, that’s the answer. No esoteric bull bleep. Slavery. Yes, I know there were other exacerbating factors. The answer is slavery. Period. Not ready for primetime. Just in case you missed it, here is Nikki. Excuse me, while I close my eyes, this is painful.

In like a falcon swoops Ron DeSantis. His talons at the ready. DeSantis was on Fox News with Edward Lawrence last night and his comments on Nikki Haley begin at 4:28:

As DeSantis said, when Haley tried to clear up her Civil War error, it was an incomprehensible “word salad” and she continues to not make a lot of sense in what she is saying. DeSantis is right. Nikki doesn’t have core convictions. She is trying to say what people wants to hear.

And, DeSantis is absolutely right about that. This should scotch (the other kind) any rumors about DeSantis dropping out. Not yet, you mouth-breathing Democrats:

Delirious Dems call Ron DeSantis “Hitler’s brother” and Mrs. Casey DeSantis “Lady Macbeth”. And Dems think that they are the cool kids. Oof. Speaking of someone who thinks he is a cool kid. Don Lemon jumped into the Nikki Haley Civil War battle. Lemon said that Haley is more dangerous than Trump. Hitler’s sister, maybe. And slammed her for not being gracious to him.

I think that DeSantis is delusional about Iowa. I could be wrong, but I am not. DeSantis is planning on heading on to New Hampshire and has accepted a CNN debate there:

Republican presidential candidate and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will attend CNN’s debate in New Hampshire next month.

“Given the short amount of time between the Iowa Caucus and New Hampshire’s primary, participating in multiple debates on different networks is the best way for Granite State voters to hear the contrast between the candidates as well as their closing arguments,” Andrew Romeo, DeSantis’s communications director, wrote in a a statement posted to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, Friday.

CNN announced earlier this month that it would host two Republican presidential primary debates in January, one in Des Moines, Iowa, on Jan. 10 and one in Goffstown, N.H. on Jan. 21.

In the statement, Romeo also went after GOP primary candidate former United Nations (U.N.) Ambassador Nikki Haley for a recent incident in which she failed to mention slavery as the cause behind the Civil War when asked about it at a town hall in New Hampshire.
“Nikki Haley’s recent flub about the cause of the Civil War shows that she isn’t ready for primetime, but this debate will give her an opportunity to finally clean up her mess with the people of New Hampshire,” Romeo continued. “And for Donald Trump, this debate will provide him with the perfect setting to stop cowering behind his teleprompter and step into the arena.”

Hey, Romeo. Trump is not “cowering behind his teleprompter”. Sod off, idiot.

To be fair to Ron DeSantis, he did earn a “battle streamer” for his flag in the Haley skirmish of the 2024 Presidential Primary. At long last. Hurrah!

” it was about slavery. The rights of all humans to be free.”… And the dems have been pissed ever since that Lincoln freed their “property”…

I’m also a Trump girl from the very first debate. I also like Ron D. I don’t believe we should be running down the best Governor we have seen in years. Trump does not need help.

The Civil War involved a number of issues other than slavery. It would have been nice if Nikki had mentioned at least one of them…

    She had two possible answers:
    1) “Slavery”
    2) “The unresolved issue of States’ Rights versus a powerful Central Government, played out within the context of the evil of slavery”.
    Haley chose:
    3) “People want to be free to do what they want to do without the government telling them they aren’t free to do what they want to do”.

  • Ron is better than Nikki.

    Low bar, there, though.
