Author, lawyer and venture capitalist J.D. Vance faced Congressman Tim Ryan in the only scheduled Ohio Senate Debate in Cleveland, Ohio last night. Vance portrayed Ryan as a Democrat acolyte who didn’t bring anything to Ohio. Ryan portrayed J.D. Vance as a Trump extremist and January 6 supporter. Only one of these men can fill the seat being vacated by Senator Rob Portmen, who at best has gotten mixed reviews. Buh-bye and best of luck to him.
Tim Ryan has been in politics his entire professional life. First, he was in the state senate. Then in 2003, he ran and won Jim Traficant’s Ohio seat in the U.S. Congress. Ryan challenged Nancy Pelosi for the speakership in 2016 and lost. He also briefly ran for President in 2020, but went nowhere. As of this writing, Ryan has voted with Joe Biden 100% of the time. Keep that in mind.
J.D. Vance has been a Marine, corporate lawyer, author and finally, a venture capitalist before beginning this Senate run. He WAS a strong critic of candidate Donald Trump in the 2016 election and described himself as a “Never Trumper”. He has had an election year conversion and is no longer on the Never Trump train.
If the Republicans expect to regain the Senate or even keep it 50/50 it is absolutely imperative that they hold this Ohio Senate seat.
J.D. Vance got the first question. Although Vance may weigh more than he did during active service. He still has the bearing of a Marine. Poor Tim Ryan looked unremarkable in bearing and like he could use a good nights sleep. He needs to keep his hands out of his pockets. Sorry, my late father was a Marine. Vance was well-spoken in explaining the idiocy (my word) of Biden spending billions while simultaneously declaring war on the energy sector. Vance also pointed out that Ryan to this date has supported 100% of the Biden spendapalooza. Ryan’s rebuttal was good but he looked so uncomfortable.
Here is the full debate video:
Vance and Ryan sparred over shipping jobs to China. From Market Watch:
China was a hot topic during Monday night’s U.S. Senate debate in Cleveland, as Democrat Tim Ryan sought to link Republican J.D. Vance to thousands of manufacturing jobs leaving the state.
Ryan, a five-term U.S. House member representing a district in northeast Ohio encompassing Akron, Youngstown and other municipalities, argued that his venture-capitalist opponent invested in companies that outsourced jobs to China, a claim that Vance denied.
“J.D. Vance is invested into companies in China. The problem we’re having now with inflation is our supply chains all went to China,” Ryan said on the debate stage. “And guys like him have made a lot of money off that, and that is exactly why the supply chains are locked up.”
Vance hit back that Ryan “couldn’t even name the company that [Vance] allegedly invested in that ships jobs to China.”
“Well, did you?” asked Ryan. Vance’s response: “Not that I know of.”
Oh for the love of Mike. Government actions cause jobs to be shipped overseas too. Regulatory rules lead to more jobs overseas. Venture Capitalism does not necessarily mean overseas jobs.
Fighting over ass-kissing was a fun portion of the evening:
“I don’t kiss anyone’s a– like him,” Ryan said of Vance, paraphrasing a line Trump used at a recent Ohio rally to describe his relationship with the GOP nominee, once a sharp critic of the former president.
“Ohio needs an a– kicker,” Ryan added. “Not an a– kisser.”
Vance shot back: “Well-rehearsed line, Tim.” He had fended off a similar attack earlier in the hourlong debate by playing up a speech in which Ryan joked that he had to “suck up” to his “future boss,” Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.
“I’m not going to take lectures on dignity and self-respect from a guy caught on video kissing up to Chuck Schumer and begging him for a promotion,” Vance said. “We’re getting close to Halloween, and Tim Ryan has put on a costume where he pretends to be a reasonable moderate.”
With 20 years in elected office, one might think Ryan would want to talk about his accomplishments. One would be way wrong. Ryan was obsessed with Trump, January 6 and his own violent rhetoric. From Breitbart:
Democrat Rep. Tim Ryan doubled down on his comments from earlier in the year calling to “kill and confront” MAGA while specifically targeting J.D. Vance in his rhetoric during the debate on Monday night.
In the heated debate between his Republican candidate, Ryan was confronted and asked to explain his comments earlier in the year when he told MSNBC’s Morning Joe that the “exhausted majority” needed to “kill and confront” the extremist Republican movement.
Now, Ryan, during the debate — doubling down on his comments — included Vance in the group of people he labels as “extremists.”
“Kill and Confront the extremist movement of which J.D. Vance, unfortunately, is a part of,” Ryan claimed. ”
Wait, whut? Tim Ryan needs to call it a day and get some sleep. Let a Marine handle this. When he is not saying Vance should die, Ryan was bragging about putting on his football jersey and doing volunteer work. Behold.

BTW, Twitter thought Ryan won, which tells you a lot.
