Andrew Gillum, the Florida gubernatorial candidate who conceded before he didn’t concede, finally conceded again. This time it looks like it will stick, and his Republican opponent, Rep. Ron DeSantis, will become Florida’s next governor.
There were no sour grapes on Gillum’s part on this second concession. He tweeted this:
I want to congratulate @RonDeSantisFL on becoming the next Governor of the great state of Florida. My wife R. Jai and I could not be prouder of the way we ran this race. We could not be more thankful to my running mate, @ChrisKingFL and his wife Kristen.

He also appeared with his wife to give a gracious concession.
Even President Trump gave props to Andrew Gillum for his hard-fought race, calling him a “strong Democrat warrior,” and saying that he was a “force to reckon with.”
“Congratulations to Andrew Gillum on having run a really tough and competitive race for Governor of the Great State of Florida. He will be a strong Democrat warrior long into the future – a force to reckon with.”
Sounds like that whole election is finally finished and put to bed, right? Eh, not so fast. Just like Hillary Clinton can’t let go of her loss, some Democrats just can’t quit this, either. And they’re blaming — you guessed it — racism for Gillum’s loss.
From an article in the Tampa Bay Times:
“Andrew Gillum would have won if he were white,” said Beck, a St. Petersburg retiree and registered Democrat.”
The article also quotes state Sen. Darryl Rouson, a St. Petersburg Democrat:
“I’m not one to call racism unless I smell it, feel it, touch it, walk with it. But there are many who would argue, and make good points, that racism did have a role.”
They’re forgetting, however, that Barack Obama beat both John McCain and Mitt Romney in Florida in 2008 and 2012. Furthermore, they’re also overlooking that Gillum caused his own problems when he accepted Broadway tickets from an undercover FBI agent.
And then there was the fact that Andrew Gillum was a bit too far left for Florida. Even a Democratic consultant admitted that:
“If race was the determining factor, Gillum wouldn’t have started with a large lead in the polls right after the primary. It only tightened when people found out about his progressive ideas.”
Further south in Florida, someone else is blaming racism for her election woes, too.
Yes, Brenda Snipes, the Broward County Election Supervisor who made Florida a laughingstock with her mishandling of election recounts, is blaming racism for her troubles.
During a Saturday interview with the British Guardian, Snipes said that racism “probably, probably” had a part in the backlash against her. She also said that protestors outside her recount center were there because of the color of her skin. No, not because she had a pattern of incompetence over the years which was so bad that a political science professor at the University of California tweeted this:
“If there is a worse election administrator in the entire country than Brenda Snipes, I’m not aware of that person.”
But I wonder if the liberals wringing their hands over racism everywhere cared that this man lost an election to a white woman:
Credit: John James for Senate.
Debbie Stabenow, a Michigan Democrat, hung on to her Senate seat despite being challenged by John James, a Republican candidate who received national interest. He truly deserved that attention, too. James is a West Point graduate, a former Army helicopter pilot who served in Iraq, and a successful businessman. Furthermore, he was also the first black nominee running for a statewide office from Michigan in 30 years.
You’d think that would make liberals sit up and take notice, right? Surely they would’ve cheered James on and helped him secure a seat in the U.S. Senate. Give a bro a hand-up!
Well, if they were the faithful supporters of minorities they claim to be, they would have. Instead, liberals ripped into him for accepting a measly $500 from an immigration reform group. And then they sent the white woman back to Washington, DC.
So much for racial solidarity.
But back to Andrew Gillum.
Gillum didn’t lose because of his skin color, and liberals should stop blaming racism for this loss. He lost because Florida voters decided they didn’t want his brand of far-left progressivism in their state house in Tallahassee.
To paraphrase James Carville: “It’s the progressivism, stupid!”

Tell me again who’s fuels the race wars, and divides the Nation.

True enough, but he did in fact come too close for comfort. Be afraid.
i would say his skin color was partially to blame…people have realized that hard line progressive destroyers have been packaged in black skin of late. we already had a costly national black marxist experiment, we don’t need another
I am so tired of hearing “racism” from candidates who lost. One never knows what motivates people to vote for anyone but I am sure it annoys people who didn’t vote for a particular candidate to hear that they voted their way because of racism. Democrats can’t seem to grasp the idea that a lot of people don’t like their ideas, instead of not liking their color. If we get another Obama or Hillary in the White House it will spell doom for this country.
THE WEAK THE IGNORANT & THOSE LACKING CONTENT OF CHARACTER ARE ALWAYS USING WORDS LIKE RACISM: and …….PHOBIA HAVE NOT HEARD JOHN JAMES MAKE ANY EXCUSES OR ACCUSATIONS
ONLY THOSE PEOPLE WHO CANT ACHIEVE ANYTHING ON THEIR OWN & SURELY THEY LACK HONOUR
WHAT IS HAPPENING TO THE COUNTRY OF THE BRAVE & PATRIOTIC & HONOURABLE ??????? ALL WE SEE IS LACK OF CIVILITY RESPECT TOLERANCE OF OUR DIFFERENCE [NO UNCONDITIONAL LOVE] ONLY CORRUPT & POLLUTED VIRTUES OR VALUES & PRINCIPLES [WHATS THAT?] IGNORANCE & NO RESPECT FOR OUR SOVEREIGNTY & RULES OF LAW…..
