Woke Classrooms Are A Disservice To Our Kids

The year of the pandemic saw the reinvention of the woke classroom. States moved students out of the classroom for, in some cases, almost a full year, to bring about virtual learning and revamp curricula.

When students returned, the American flag was replaced with pride/progress flags and flags of the 31 Baskin-Robbins genders of the rainbow. Teachers and school administrators conducted book studies on White Fragility for “professional development”. They grabbed resources from The 1619 Project to incorporate into their history and Social Studies curriculum. They’ve incorporated Social Emotional Learning or SEL into the mix of woke:

Speciesism. What in the actual…? Apparently, it’s the “idea that being human is a good enough reason for human animals to have greater moral rights than non-human animals.” I guess the cat ladies have cause to be more introspective in dissecting this concept. Good luck to them.

School districts went as far to designate special SEL teachers for this (B.S.) curriculum that was deemed “essential” during and after pandemic. How do we trans our students? SEL, of course! A popular curricula in school districts nationwide is Second Step SEL. Here are some of the key ideas behind the lessons:

Bullying/Harassment, particularly through a racial lens: When Second Step discusses bullying/harassing/taunting, “power and privilege” is one of three social factors that contribute to this behavior. Second Step asserts that “sometimes people experience privilege based on race and gender,” and also lists “power and privilege” as a reason for bullying. In general, race is a primary factor Second Step focuses their bullying lessons on. So instead of this SEL program focusing on unity to achieve equality in the classroom, they instead want to achieve ‘equity’ by resurrecting racism, and pushing the narratives of white power and white privilege.”utahparentsunited.org

The Christian, white girl with two parents living in a house who are heterosexual who are still happily married, who attends church on the weekends, will have to add extra beads to her “privilege necklace” in class, while sitting next to the black girl who lives in an apartment with her parent, who is a single mom. See how this plays out? If this is not fodder for fights in the cafeteria, cyber-bullying and further division, I do not know what else is.

Let’s talk about Second Step’s 8th grade curriculum:

Students are asked to: ‘create a plan for disrupting factors’ and ‘choose a disruption guidancestrategy’ as a way of ‘challenging and changing attitudes, beliefs, traditions, or practices that make bullying and harassment socially acceptable.’ The term ‘disrupt’ is often associated with movements like Antifa and Black Lives Matter.”-utahparentsunited.org

Let’s raise more children who will be willing to go out and destroy property, light cars on fire and shoot up a church, by all means. Disrupting is so beneficial to civilization. More:

When discussing unhealthy relationships, a slide says ‘For more information, support and advice,visitloveisrespect.org.’ This site would teach 13-year-old student directed to this website from Second Step to clear their browser history and exit out quickly to prevent someone knowing they are looking at this website. Instead of just being an informational site for those reporting abuse, this website also has topics such as ‘5 tips for your first time (having sex)’, and ‘Dating in the Closet.’ It says that ‘sex can be an important part of your relationship’, and when deciding if you are ready to date you should ask yourself if you are ‘looking for something casual, exclusive monogamy, or an open relationship, like polyamory?'”-utahparentsunited.org

Probably the most disturbing of the curriculum that is highlighted in SEL platforms are the undertones that family and previous generations are insignificant. The ideas floated in some of these lessons are “your parents are not faced with what you are faced with today”. The videos encourage students to rely on teachers, counselors, or other school staff members before relying on their parents for guidance.

More useless woke may be coming to New York City if Zohran Mamdani gets elected. Take billionaire , “philanthropist”, Liz Simons, daughter of late hedge-fund billionaire Jim Simons, who just donated $250 thousand to Mamdani’s campaign.

The Heising-Simons Foundation, co-founded by Simons and her philanthropist husband Mark Heising, has given millions to the woke math cause — including $1.7 million since 2023 to the Racial Justice in Early Mathematics Project at Chicago’s Erikson Institute.”-Rich Calder, The New York Post

Great. More two plus two equals five coming your way.

From 2022 through 2023, Heising-Simons also gave at least $4 million to other groups backing woke math, including $630,825 to San Francisco-based Tandem Partners in Early Learning and $665,000 to Arizona’s Illustrative Mathematics, according to its latest available tax filings.

It also funded a ‘mathematics education’ program in Alexandria, Va., encouraging K–2 students at one school to count picture book characters by race and create a racial scorecard — including tracking books with few white characters.”-Rich Calder, The New York Post

There may be an argument for taxing the rich here. There are so many things Liz Simons could contribute to to help aid in closing the racial and wealth disparities in our nation. But, what does this self-important twit choose? Like any good comrade, more division, all the time.

Even better if they can get the teachers on-board. Take the high school Spanish teacher in Washington State who took to her socials to discuss her classroom rules:

This nut job was placed on non-administrative leave. Basically, a paid vacation after she already had two months off.

Kelsey Early is not paid to spout her woke, political ideologies in a classroom. She is paid to TEACH A FOREIGN LANGUAGE. And, if she is going off on a woke tirade before school is even in session, perhaps she needs more mental health intervention than we think. Do parents really want a person this mentally unstable in front of their kids?

The sad reality is, there are many like Ms. Early in the public school system. And, many parents who also support these ideologies. The vast majority of them are not stupid enough to put all of their delusional beliefs out there on TikTok but, trust me, they are out there. My son’s former 5th grade teacher had an epic meltdown in class after the election of 2016. His reading and math scores were at an all-time low that year. Coincidence? I think not.

Granted, there are some great teachers out there and my child was the beneficiary of some of them. But the mental instability of the rest should be a concern. Woke is a mental state of mind that has infiltrated the classrooms in favor of the basic reading, writing and arithmetic (now all raaaaaacist). Woke Math. Woke English. Woke assignments. Days of Visibility. I’ve even seen Days of Silence where a teacher does not speak for a whole day in solidarity of LGBTQIA++++ issues. How are you paid to teach if you don’t speak all day? They spend hours upon hours of the weeks leading up to school on woke pedagogy (hate that word) but still cannot control behaviors or hook up their technology to, yeah, TEACH, for that matter, in their classrooms. This is an epic FAIL of catastrophic proportions.

Don’t believe me? The test scores say it all. Yet, at the end of the school year, these woke educators (because we cannot call them teachers anymore), and their admins, pack it all in for the summer to give themselves a pat on the back and a participation trophy for a “job well done”. Our kids are no better after another year in the public school system. Reading and math scores are still down. High school seniors still cannot write legibly or seem to understand their last name is important on documentation. Some of these kids going out into this world are seemingly unfit and unable to grasp reality or function in this world because they lack the basic skills but yay for charts in favor of good, old-fashioned multiplication tables. They cannot hold a reasonable debate or argument without breaking down. They have no respect for generations before them or authority. They know it all yet still don’t know how to drive a car. It’s okay, though. They will take a yacht to a Palestine protest and spend their days making banners and being good, woke, “activists”.

Woke is a disservice to our kids. Change my mind. Now, go on and spread that kindness like confetti.

Is this a fever dream? Are you for real? Because you clearly have no idea what SEL actually is. I’m so sorry you either couldn’t afford to send your kid to a nice private school or that he wasn’t accepted if that’s what this is about.

My children have learned to respect other cultures and other families. They’ve learned how to live in a world that doesn’t always look or believe like them and to respect those who are different. They have friends who have graciously taught them about their cultures and beliefs and you know what? It hasn’t turned them into followers of those beliefs! Oh the shock! Because if you aren’t an insecure goon you will trust that if you “start children off on the way they should go,… even when they are old they will not turn from it.” (Proverbs 22:6) I personally would rather raise my children in the way of Jesus, who frequently associated with those who didn’t follow Judaism as he did, than whatever it is you’re advocating for. Learning about those cultures has enhanced our lives beautifully. It has shown us what a big beautiful world God has created and made us appreciate those in his image. And we have learned what it means to truly love our neighbors, who are, BTW, everyone according to Jesus.

And also get your fainting couch out: there just might be those who come from different families in your community! Horrific! Learning about them won’t make your children like them. It will just make them kinder and more empathetic. (Oh wait, I forgot that empathy is toxic to you lot. My bad.)

My children have also learned how to better regulate their emotions, problem solve, and get along with others. I guess unless you want to have your child be an insufferable antisocial cretin you would find that unappealing.

All this whining about SEL is really just mean people advocating for the social acceptability of being awful. If that’s you, then you do you. Being so full of hate and fear must be so exhausting.

Thanks, Karen. But can they read? What are their math skills like? Do they write in cursive or just print? Do they copy their homework assignments directly from the internet? Have they read the Constitution and the Federalist Papers? Do they know how the Civil War started? WW II? Vietnam?

I’m glad your kids know how to respect others, but shouldn’t that be taught at home and more time spent on academics at school?

Gaslighting doesn’t work anymore, hon. Parents who can are trying their best to get away from gubmint skools who are more interested in lobotomized social justice warriors of the future than in individual kids knowing how to read/write/math.

Oh look! Bitter gay man is back to scold us. What happened, princess? You’re broke from having to pay your tab at the S&M bar so you come back here for free humiliation?

In the two years after the Covid-19 lockdowns, I taught 7th Grade math. In both of those years, nearly half of my students could not do multiplication and on top of that, their emotional growth was stunted. They had trouble interacting with each other plus they showed nearly no respect for adults. I imagine these students have nearly completed their High School careers and hopefully have learned a bit more math and how to interact with others. But I honestly doubt it.

We need to get government out of the classroom. Otherwise, we will not be able to stop the woke mob from depriving at least some children of a decent education.
