CNN published an article titled “These are your white allies on Facebook” yesterday under the “health” section of their site. The article is about the Facebook page “White Nonsense Roundup”. Now, I would not normally take note of idiocy like “White Nonsense Roundup” or CNN, but the Daily Caller wrote an article about how the CNN article was “glowing and totally uncritical”.
My first thought about “white Nonsense Roundup” was how very “white” of y’all (my accent is very thick when I think).
From the Daily Caller article:
White Nonsense Roundup is composed of 100 self-declared “white allies” who rush “to relieve people of color from the emotional labor of engaging with a person’s racist or racially insensitive thoughts,” according to CNN’s puff piece.
CNN described the group as “roadside assistance for social media debates you’re tired of having.”
A person of color can request the assistance of White Nonsense Roundup simply by tagging the group in heated debates and letting one of the white allies interject themselves into the social media quarrel.
And here is a portion of their “mission” statement from their Facebook page:
White Nonsense Roundup (WNR) was created by white people to address our inherently racist society in our own communities. We believe it is our responsibility to call out white friends, relatives, contacts, speakers, and authors who are contributing to structural racism and harming our friends of color. We are a resource for anti-racist images, links, videos, artwork, essays, and voices. These can be used by anyone for a DIY white nonsense roundup, or by the WNR team to support people of color upon their request.
And, just for the visual, here is a video interview with the two founders, Layla Tromble and Terri Kempton:
I only watched about 40 seconds of that claptrap before my head started involuntarily slamming into my desk. They think they are “woke”. They want to call out everyone. These two women:
Are you freaking kidding me? Delusional much? One excuse is that they live in Washington State. I cannot think of any other excuses except that their crazy cat lady kits haven’t been delivered yet. Talk about white privilege. These two want to lecture those of us who culturally appropriate, are not sensitive enough to our white privilege or are ignorant red necked slugs. Clearly, they do not understand irony. These two extremely white women think that people of color need their help because these women are more woke than their other white neighbors in Washington State.
I did find a hopeful and yet very racist link on the “White Nonsense Roundup” Facebook page. “Racists, Ranked” is a racist article from The Root. According to the article, I am both a racist and a person of color. I have been followed around a store by a sales clerk, been mistaken for a sales clerk and been deemed not classy enough for the establishment by a nightclub bouncer, hence, I am a person of color. I voted for Trump and am therefore a complicit racist. And, this is the kind of nonsense one gets. My head is meeting the desk again.
Please, I am begging you, in the name of all that is good and righteous in this world, read history. Today is December 7. On this day, 76 years ago, our nation was attacked at Pearl Harbor. This is a “day that will live in infamy”. Good men and women of every race, color and creed stepped up and many died. Read about Dorie Miller on Victory Girls’ Facebook page. Truth and beauty are the only antidotes for nonsense.
All you po’ ignorant little black folk, don’ trouble your heads ’bout this racist stuff. You jes’ set back and let white massa take care o’ you. Thass bettah.
Exactly!
I can’t even…
Bless their condescending little hearts.
Jabba the Huts daughters???? wow, the stupid is strong with those two…
our inherently racist society
No. Just NO. Not for a very long time. Period.
No further critique is really necessary.
Their name says it all, especially if you ignore the “white” and “roundup” parts.
I’ve noticed that black men like tubby white girls. I wonder if this figures into the equation somehow?
Nothing screams for the utility of something called “White Nonsense Roundup” like this comment section. Bless y’all hearts.
I actually did a search on this group as this was the first time I’ve heard of it. Toni, your blog confirmed for me that they’re obviously an asset. Thanks for that. #SilverLining
I suppose you missed the part where WNR are the racists. No one I know that’s black needs them. Or wants them.
They are doing nothing more than virtue signaling and showing their white guilt. Not everyone has white guilt. It’s pitiful, and it’s stupid.
