First Cynthia McKinney, now this crazy loon.
Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) is afraid that the U.S. Territory of Guam is going to “tip over and capsize” due to overpopulation.
Johnson expressed his worries during a House Armed Services Committee hearing on the defense budget Friday.
Addressing Adm. Robert Willard, who commands the Navy’s Pacific Fleet, Johnson made a tippy motion with his hands and said sternly, “My fear is that the whole island will become so overly populated that it will tip over and capsize.”
Willard paused and said: “We don’t anticipate that.”
Like other islands, Guam is attached to the sea floor, which makes it extremely unlikely that it will tip over, even if there are lots and lots of people on it. Guam is 30 miles long and up to 9 miles wide in certain spots, with a population of 175,000 civilians. The military is proposing the addition of 8,000 U.S. servicememebers and their families.
Reached for comment, a spokesman for Johnson said the lawmaker had visited Guam, and his concern was that the influx of military personnel would overwhelm the island’s infrastructure and ecosystem.
You can’t wriggle out of this one, Rep. Johnson. The video makes it obvious that he was completely serious:
Considering his history of race-mongering, Michelle is wondering how long it will take him to start calling RAAACIST! to detract from questions about this.
Of course, in his defense, he is battling Hepatitis C, an illness which apparently affects his mind (and I say that with no sarcasm). The question is, should people with mental illnesses be representing us in Congress?
Cassy, really…is this an April Fool’s joke? I just cannot believe that a grown-up adult could possibly think such a thing, regardless of political party.
Speaking of crazy loons … how come you never blog about Scott Roeder?
Cassy
Guam is on the Ridge West of the Challenger Deep or Marianas Trench which is Seven Miles deep and is the Deepest part of the world Ocean.
Guam is formed from the subduction of the Pacific Plate. The Marianas Trench is a result of the subduction of the western portion of the Pacific Plate underneath the Mariana Plate. Guam is actually growing. It also would more likely sink in WWII with all the Munitions and personnel in the Island Hopping campaign against the Japenese Imperial Forces. Compared to that or even the cold war it is a drop in the bucket. I lived in Guam for quite a few years in the 60’s and 70’s.
This person knows NOTHING about Guam.
First McKinney? Are you forgetting Jimmy, the Wabbit slayer, Carter?
That surpasses the stupidity of Maxine Waters who didn’t understand the difference between mortgage interest rates, the Federal Funds Rate, and the Discount Rate despite having served on the Finance Committee for several years.
“The question is, should people with mental illnesses be representing us in Congress?”
Well, they have been for a long time. They’re called Democrats.
Don’t be so harsh. Can you prove he isn’t an average legislator? He is a lawyer, like most legislators, and he was a judge, like Hastings. He’s probably better than average.
