The Left, including California Governor Gavin Newsom, is calling for the resignation of Florida Congressman Randy Fine because they do not appreciate his tweet about a choice between dogs or Muslims. Especially Nerdeen Kiswani who made the original tweet about dogs and Muslims.

Nerdeen Kiswani made the original post on February 12, but the steaming pile started picking up last night, which is when I found it. Don’t mess with dogs around me. Don’t ever say dogs are unclean. Dogs are cleaner than most people. And, by the way, Nerdeen Kiswani says her post was an obvious joke. Okay?

According to the Daily Mail, here is how it started:

A Palestinian activist has called for dogs to be banned as pets in New York City claiming they aren’t Islamic.

Nerdeen Kiswani said dogs have a ‘place in society’ but ‘not as indoor pets.’

‘Like we’ve said all along, they are unclean,’ she wrote on X.

After receiving fierce backlash she later claimed that her post was a ‘joke’.

‘[Laughing] at the Zionists frothing at the mouth at this, thinking they’re doing something,’ she wrote.

‘It’s obviously a joke I don’t care if you have a dog, I do care if your dog is s***ting everywhere and you’re not cleaning it.

‘Also clearly trying to weigh in on an issue unaware of the current NYC discourse where we’re collectively (jokingly) hating on dogs given all the visible dog s**t in the unmelted snow.’

Muslims typically do not keep dogs as pets as many believers feel they are meant to be used for work such as herding or hunting.

I believe that Miss Kiswani was NOT joking. I think she got over her skis because she and her friends were so excited that they elected a Muslim Mayor of New York City. She got cocky.

By the way, that is MacDuff Travis Williams in the featured photo at the top of this post. We drove from Tennessee to New Jersey in a snowstorm to collect him from his Foster Dad Michael six years ago.

Rep. Randy Fine, R-Fla., prompted calls for his resignation from Democrats and a major Islamic civil rights group after suggesting in a social media post that he’d choose dogs over Muslims.

“If they force us to choose, the choice between dogs and Muslims is not a difficult one,” Fine posted to the social media platform X on Sunday. Shortly afterward, he added a photo of a post from Nerdeen Kiswani, the co-founder of the pro-Palestinian group “Within Our Lifetime,” in which she called dogs “unclean” and said that “NYC is coming to Islam.”

“For context, this is the leader of one of the key mainstream Muslim groups that supported Mamdani,” Fine wrote, referring to Zohran Mamdani, New York City’s new mayor.

Fine’s initial post sparked a parade of criticism and a handful of calls for him to resign.

In a statement, the Council on American-Islamic Relations pointed to its previous condemnation’s of Fine’s past comments on Gaza and Hamas, adding that “leaders of Congress across the political spectrum should demand his resignation, which is long overdue.”

Rep. Robert Garcia, D-Calif., called the post “disgusting Islamophobia and dangerous bigotry,” adding that “he should be forced to resign” after his committee assignments are stripped from him.

Rep. Yassamin Ansari, D-Ariz., called for House Speaker Mike Johnson to “reprimand him immediately,” adding that he’s “repeatedly dehumanized Muslims without consequence.”

California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom responded to Fine on X, writing, “Resign now, you racist slob.”

Kiswani replied to her own message from two days earlier by evoking Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s comments in her 2024 book about killing a dog on her farm.

“Kristi Noem literally bragged about shooting her own dog and most of you did not bat an eyelash. A Muslim in NYC says maybe the city is not the best place for pets and it is days of death threats from MAGA and Zionists,” she wrote.

We love and spoil our dogs. My Syrian Christian neighbor and I were walking our dogs when another doctor, a Pakistani Muslim, was moving into the neighborhood. Johanna waved and said, if they are moving into here they should get a dog. The other doctor hurried away. I said, Muslims don’t like dogs. J grinned and said, I know.

It is not Islamophobic to love dogs. We will keep our dogs. Just stay out of the doggie’s way. Oh, and people, clean up after your dog.

We made a choice long ago that we love dogs.
