Portland Oregon Mayor, Ted Wheeler, decided, in typical passive-aggressive Pacific Northwest fashion, to be a tough guy and write a scathing, open letter to President Trump early yesterday morning.

He’s so humble, he made the declaration on Twitter for all to see:

Oooo. That’ll learn that big, bad, orange President Trump! Ted Wheeler doesn’t want your kind in PDX. He’d so much rather the riots in downtown Portland that have destroyed businesses and kept rational, sane people out of shops and restaurants just burn themselves out.

Tough-guy Ted was triggered after the President mentioned Portland by name as he addressed the RNC Thursday night:

In the strongest possible terms, the Republican Party condemns the rioting, looting, arson, and violence we have seen in Democrat-run cities all, like Kenosha, Minneapolis, Portland, Chicago, and New York, and many others, Democrat-run.

There is violence and danger in the streets of many Democrat-run cities throughout America. This problem could easily be fixed if they wanted to. Just call, we’re ready to go in. We will take care of your problem in a matter of hours. Just call. We have to wait for the call.It is too bad we have to, but we have to wait for the call.”-President Trump

In a formal letter telling Trump and the Feds to “stay away”, Wheeler added this:

We don’t need your politics of division and demagoguery. Portlanders are onto you. We have already seen your reckless disregard for human life in your bumbling response to the COVID pandemic. And we know you’ve reached the conclusion that images of violence or vandalism are your only ticket to reelection.

There is no place for looting, arson, or vandalism in our city. There is no room here for racist violence or those who wish to bring their ideology of hate into our community. Those who commit criminal acts will be apprehended and prosecuted under the law.”-Mayor Ted Wheeler, Portland

A bumbling response to the COVID pandemic would be encouraging normally irresponsible people to be even more irresponsible and riot and destroy The Rose City without any consequences. A bumbling response to the COVID pandemic would be to encourage “peaceful protests” of thousands in the streets, camping out in the middle of them, overnight, in squalor, in tents, where they don’t so much as change underwear, never mind the face masks. The Feds were apprehending criminals because Wheeler wanted the police to stand down. Let it burn, let it burn, let it burn. Ted, YOU”VE made Portland a place for looting, arson and vandalism.

But according to Mayor Ted’s altered reality, the situation in Portland is not a bumbling response but a display of unity amongst Portlanders who are “onto” the President. His ego must still be bruised because of that tear gas incident.

It’s okay, Ted, we’re “onto” you, too. How could the Feds possibly have known you were part of the thuggery? You’re just one of the people, trying to pander-errr, uhhhh, do your part. And these fine, upstanding people love you so much as their Mayor in the Peoples’ Republic of PDX, will support you, right? They’ll come to your house and camp out for a spell in the hopes of having a little chat and a nightcap. The plot thickens:

What you didn’t see in that clip were the fires set in the middle of the streets last night. The rave on the outside of Ted’s condo coincided with a “sit-in” where participants chained themselves to furniture in the building’s lobby. Conveniently, Mayor Ted was not at home. He was wearing his woke-mask and social distancing somewhere else, apparently. While Ted continues to side with these “peaceful protestors”, one would think they were all there to show him appreciation for fighting off the “Big, Orange Bully” with his words? Think again.

Security for @tedwheeler’s condo said a while ago they called police but no one has showed up so far. That part of the Pearl District in NW Portland is currently completely occupied by far-left protesters demanding he resign. #PortlandRiots

According to Andy Ngo, rioters were splattering red paint on the outside of the Teddy’s condo and shining strobe lights into the windows of the building. Some annoyed residents (a few of whom probably cast their ballots for Wheeler), threw water on the rioters outside.

It would only be better if they mixed up the water with some soap. Or…

I doubt some of them would know a job application if it slapped them in the face but alas, it is time to steer this ship to the shore. Apparently, Wheeler’s security called the police. (Insert chuckle here.)

Silence from Ted Wheeler. Silence from Oregon governor, Kate Brown. Not a peep. You can’t make this stuff up. Meanwhile, the left is eating its own. We’re eating the popcorn. Pass the butter and salt. Once again, the left have outdone themselves. This irony is both tragic and delicious.
