Marie Harf who is the spokesperson for the State Department actually said this on MSNBC reports the Fox News Insider:
State Department spokesperson Marie Harf said on MSNBC that the U.S. cannot “kill our way out” of the war against ISIS, bringing up job creation as a long-term solution to stopping the terror army.
“We’re killing a lot of them and we’re going to keep killing more of them, so are the Egyptians, so are the Jordanians. They’re in this fight with us. But we cannot win this war by killing them, we cannot kill our way out of this war,” Harf said. “We need, in the longer term, medium and longer term, to go after the root causes that lead people to join these groups, whether it’s lack of opportunity for jobs.”
“We can work with countries around the world to help improve their governance. We can help them build their economies, so they can have job opportunities for these people.”

Seriously? Daesh is an increasingly violent terror gang. Their focus is not on feeding their families and singing kum-ba-yah anymore than Pablo Escobar was when he was exporting cocaine from Meddelin. Of course the inconvenient fact that the Daeshbags are from Britain and France and left careers and families behind to go be Daeshbags, is not mentioned. Or the fact that the Daeshbags are kidnappers, murderers, rapists and pedophiles. There is not an outcry from Ms. Harf about the gay men thrown off a building for simply being a homosexual. Not a word from her about the Yadzi women and children who were kidnapped and raped. No Ms. Harf wants to reward criminals and appease them. Because that worked so very well in 1938. I would recommend Ms. Harf look at documents from the US Embassy in Berlin from about 1934 – 1941. And take a walk on a bright sunny day to the Holocaust Museum and spend an afternoon seeing the impact of a more high tech Daesh. Jordan and Egypt know their enemy. Israel and Russia know their enemy. The Gulf States know their enemy. IF these are US Allies then perhaps giving them the respect and listening to their reports before speaking about the Daesh might be a wiser move.
She is speaking for the Obama Administration as a representative of the State Department. Where one might ask is Mr. Obama? He is way over his head in this. He is not experienced in foreign policy and unlike Ronald Reagan lacks the humility to realize his weaknesses and hire the best people for the job. John Kerry’s diplomacy after France’s terror attacks was brining James Taylor to sing “you’ve got a friend” to France. So there is not a lot of hope of action from the Obama administration other than for Barry and family to go on vacation.
They need jobs? I think the Daesh guys would do an excellent job as targets for our Armed Forces. A win-win situation.
“Daeshbags”… That is comedy gold right there.
Agreed!
Oh, I am so stealing that, Gail! 😉
I absolutely appreciate Miss Harf, and everything she said was the truth. Oh, not the truth in the real world, but the truth in the State Department and the Obama Administration; she simply said out loud how they all think.
After earning her BA in Political Science at Indiana, and her MA in Foreign Affairs at Virginia, Miss Harf was hired by the CIA as an intelligence analyst specializing in the Middle East; this may explain a great deal about just how good our intelligence assessments of the Middle East were.
It would seem that those of the Progressive persuasion excel at being analysts….as in, “anal-ist” with head deeply and irrevocably ensconced deeply up inside their personal nether regions.
A paradox, since they deem themselves part of a grand and noble “movement” — something which one might think would resolve the aforementioned physically-contortive condition, but, alas, it does not.
“Gee, it’s kinda dark in here!….”
And there you have one of the mountains of reasons why our foreign policy is in such a shambles.
I hear there’s a party over at Kappa Phi Delta this weekend!
Finally figured out how to be the smartest guy in the room: surround yourself with morons.
I swear every time I hear something coming out of DC I feel like I’m living in an episode of the Twilight Zone.
