While watching the going’s on in Iraq over the past weeks I have been consistently amazed by one thing-our “leaders” haven’t been paying it much attention. Yesterday, Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA) who also happens to be the head of the Senate Intelligence Committee (how is THAT for an oxymoron??) came out with a statement saying that ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) is a threat to America and should be “Dealt with forcefully”. Ya think?? Just because they have turned the city of Mosul, Iraq into something like 1600’s London by surrounding a park with heads on pikes as discussed in a CNN interview with an American businessman who happens to be a Chaldean Christian.

“There is a park in Mosul, where [ISIS] they actually beheaded children and put their heads on a stick and have them in the park,” he explained. “More children are getting beheaded, mothers are getting raped and killed, and fathers are being hung.”

According to Ms. Feinstein ISIS is a threat because they are  “operating with military expertise, advancing across Iraq and rapidly consolidating its position,” as a result she says that inaction is no longer an option. Well, Senator let me tell you something-IT NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN AN OPTION. Now, we have the United States of Islam spreading across the Middle East (so far ISIS controls territory from Syria to Iraq) with members from Western nations such as Britain, Australia and the U.S. According to a Los Angeles Times article published in July of this year, as many as 3,000 members are Westerners with as many as 100 of those believed to be holding American passports.

When you think about this it is frightening enough but when you pair it with what has been happening on our southern border this summer it is even more chilling. According to a report released by the House Committee on Homeland Security released in 2006 OTM’s (Other Than Mexicans) have been a serious problem for a long time now.

“Since Sept. 11, 2001 the Border Patrol has reported a 41% increase in arrests of OTM or Special Interest Aliens crossing our southern borders in Texas and Arizona.”

Where are these people from? It reads like a who’s who of the Middle East-Syria, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia (where the 9/11 hijackers hailed from), Kuwait, Jordan, Pakistan, Lebanon are all mentioned.

If you aren’t concerned, you should be. Dr. Ben Carson was spot on in his editorial “The Spreading Scourge of Anti-Christian Persecution” on Townhall.com this week:

“Some will say religious persecution in other parts of the world does not concern us and we cannot be the police for the planet. Certainly, there is some validity to the latter part of that statement, but if we continue to ignore or tolerate religious persecution elsewhere, it is just a matter of time before we will experience it here at home.”

So, Ms. Feinstein contemplate that when you are sipping your Chardonnay in Napa some weekend.
