By any measure, yesterday’s school walkout to end gun violence and remember the 17 precious lives lost in the Parkland school shooting was a gargantuan success. The New York Times covered it in an article “National School Walkout: Thousands Protest Against Gun Violence Across The U.S.”. Time.com, the Wall Street Journal and every other major online news group covered it. Of course, the legacy media gloried in it:
First of all, to make sure everyone knows, the military does not use the AR-15 and it is not an automatic weapon. Automatic weapons were banned in 1935 and 1986.
And social media ate this up:
Not every child walked out of school. The daughter of our very own Victory Girls’ blogger Deanna Fisher wrote an account of her school day and she did not walk out. If you haven’t read it, I encourage you to read it here.
I may be older than dirt, but I remember being 17 and 18 years old (f’real). We could barely organize a paper drive at that age without adult supervision. I recognize that kids today are smarter, more technologically advanced and certainly more media savvy than any past generation. I still had to wonder how these kids got this so together and promoted. In a past life, I worked in marketing and this is impressive marketing. And it is marketing no doubt.
These kids have been sold concepts that the cigarette and liquor companies have been vilified for using. They have been convinced they are smarter for believing this. They have been persuaded that they are cooler for participating. They have been assured that they are righteous in their cause.
So, just who are the wizards behind the curtain manipulating the youth of the United States of America?
Yes, they’re the ones. The very ones who brought who brought you the Pussy Hat marches with Madonna wanting to destroy the White House. The Women’s March fascists from the “Resist” movement are sponsoring and helping to market these youth rallies. Savvy marketing is their hallmark, for instance:
WOMEN’S MARCH YOUTH EMPOWER TOOLKIT
The Women’s March Youth EMPOWER Toolkit is an initiative of Women’s March Youth through a coalition with Peace First, Rise To Run, Teen Vogue, The Justice League NYC, The Gathering For Justice, and Rock The Vote. Women’s March EMPOWER upholds the unity principles of the Women’s March platform. Our goal is to provide young people with the tools needed to create high school and college chapters that guide students in making a positive impact in their communities. We believe that the single most powerful act we can do is prepare young people with the skills and commitments to take actions around causes that matter to them with courage, compassion and collaboration. You can visit Peace First’s website to get more support and the chance to apply for a grant of up to $250.

“Resist”, the Women’s March and “Rise to Run” are all about Progressive politics. Dig this from George Orwell’s 1940 review of “Mein Kampf”:
Hitler, because in his own joyless mind he feels it with exceptional strength, knows that human beings don’t only want comfort, safety, short working-hours, hygiene, birth-control and, in general, common sense; they also, at least intermittently, want struggle and self sacrifice, not to mention drums, flags and loyalty-parades. However they may be as economic theories, Fascism and Nazism are psychologically far sounder than any hedonistic conception of life.
The “Resist”/Women’s March Progressive crowd is playing these kids like violins. In a rudderless society, as we have become, these kids get down with the struggle and sacrifice, and did we mention loyalty parades. The cigarette and liquor companies are so jealous.
Please be aware that you have to raise your children as if you are playing chess. You must be totally plugged in and two moves ahead of them. You don’t want to raise good little fascists, do you?
I agree with much of what the author wrote, but I balk at one assertion–that today’s kids are smarter than previous generations. I know that this is the current thinking (and certainly few young people would resist the notion), but I see absolutely no evidence of this. True, today’s kids know vastly more about popular culture and electronic gadgets than I, but that doesn’t make someone smart. Do these kids have any knowledge of history, religion or literature? Have they read the Constitution or the Declaration of Independence? Can they do basic math without a calculator?
Sure, they can recite thousands of lines from rap songs and can reach Level 50 on a first-person shooter video game, but can they explain why they believe what their teachers have inculcated in them? I doubt it.
sorry. I was thinking sarcasm in my head. I should have told my fingers.

Not to mention, as shown in a current car insurance ad, how many know what a lug wrench is, how to change oil in their vehicle, how to start a campfire, split wood, clean a fish, field dress a game animal, cook a meal without a microwave, do a load of laundry, and on and on and on… I agree tech wise they are much more savvy, but in any of what used to be considered life skills, most are completely inept…But they are completely convinced of their superiority… this is what the leftist takeover of the educational system has given us…
If these kids really want to impress me, instead of skipping class, they should organize a protest in which they spend an extra hour in school studying. Then maybe I’d take them seriously.
Good idea but what kind of indoctrination will they get?
Thousands Protest
ROFL. In a nation with something like 15 million high school students, they got “thousands” to walk out? Ha!
Heck, “thousands” starts with just one high school where I lived (the one I would have attended if we hadn’t moved after 6th grade). My smaller school graduated 280. If you throw in all the middle schoolers that walked out, those numbers are truly pathetic.
Automatic weapons were banned in 1935 and 1986.
Not exactly. But made very difficult and expensive to get hold of.
I recognize that kids today are smarter, more technologically advanced and certainly more media savvy than any past generation.
No, they certainly are NOT smarter, in the aggregate. And they’re less well-educated, on top of that. Their technological “advancement” is mostly monkey work – IOW, I can train a monkey to do it, given some time. (See Andrew’s, CaptDMO’s and Scott’s comments.) Media savvy? They are more exposed through social media, but I would deny they are more *savvy*. Mostly they believe whatever gets tossed their way on social media, without any critical thought encountered. That, by definition is not “savvy”.

A communist front org.
Teen Vogue
Didn’t these folks just do a thing promoting anal sex for teens?
The Justice League NYC, The Gathering For Justice
More communist front org.s, masquerading as racist front org.s.
So “smart” that one EMP pulse, or attack on the Electric Grids will render them helpless, useless, … and very soon dead. Wow! What an intellectual and species advancement we’ve made, eh? Mass Extinction will be a result of technology, not avoided by use of it.
Attributed on the Twit app to someone named Josh Hugo:
You have students marching with the sanction of the state to demand less freedom from the state… and everyone is pretending that their doing so is somehow brave and rebellious.
Yipper, we have some really bright young folks. Have you had one of them count back change at a store? They can’t, without the cash register telling them. I could go on and on, but will not.
I have been teaching at a college for thirty years, and yes, things have changed. The students today are more tech savvy, but they are a more ovine flock than ever. It’s frightening how easily they are swayed by “celebrities” and other uneducated blowhards screaming about “social justice”. Too many of them know nothing about history or government. Nor do they think for themselves. I certainly hope the proverbial pendulum is starting to swing back to equilibrium.
“I recognize that kids today are smarter, more technologically advanced and certainly more media savvy than any past generation.”
What use are smarts and savvy if they are pig-ignorant of current events, politics, history and the Constitution? My son was excited about joining the (mandatory) optional walkout at his high school, yet knew nothing of where the shooting took place nor the name of the shooter. Second Amendment? Orwell and the two-minute hate? Fascists? Never heard of them; are they in a new movie?
It is obvious that our children are ripe for the punchline of George Santayana: “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”
>”My son was excited… yet knew nothing…”
Well, that’s partly on you, Jeff. One of our jobs as fathers is to teach our sons and daughters about life, about history, about current events, about right and wrong.
“I recognize that kids today are smarter, more technologically advanced and certainly more media savvy than any past generation.”
As many have stated, they are not any smarter than the youth of old.
I will also say, they are not technologically advanced. True they have access to smartphones, and a whole host of apps. But, I would not equate using social media apps with being technologically advanced.
How many of them could build something as simple as a birdhouse? How many of them could build an AM radio? They aren’t technologically advanced, they use the pocket computers we all dreamed of when we were growing up to play games, seek attention, and confirm each other’s biases.
And media savvy, HA! They willing allow themselves to be spoonfed “news” on those social media apps. Media savvy to me is knowing when you are being lied to or manipulated, and countering that by digging for the facts, and the reasons behind things.
Granted, there are exceptions to this, but the vast majority of the young I see are not anything like “smarter, more technologically advanced and certainly more media savvy.” They sit in groups, absorbed in their phones, sharing the nothingness with people who aren’t there, all so they can get more likes.
What he said. Better than I did.
