Supporters of Bernie Sanders have convinced themselves that they’re not supporting a real live socialist by coming up with the ludicrous idea that he’s actually a “democratic socialist”. This doesn’t exist. There is no such thing as a democratic socialist. Bernie Sanders is simply a socialist. He always has been, and openly so, until he decided to run for president, so naturally, he had to move a little closer to the center to attract voters. Americans don’t generally like socialists that much, and for good reason. Mention the Soviet Republic, or Castro’s iron-fisted rule over Cuba, and people are sickened. The thought of people starving to death while waiting in bread lines, or for their government-approved food rationing, doesn’t generally make people happy. But then, most people aren’t Bernie Sanders. And Bernie Sanders is all about them bread lines. They’re a good thing!
Vermont’s Democratic socialist presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has sought to separate his views from those of tyrannical socialist regimes throughout history. The problem is that back in the 1980’s Sanders was outspoken in his support of communist dictator Fidel Castro as well as the Soviet-aligned Sandinista government in Nicaragua.
In fact, recently discovered video shows Sanders praising food lines as a good thing. Sanders asserts that countries where people don’t line up for food that the poor are starving to death because “the rich get all the food.”
You can watch the video here:
And here’s the relevant transcript of Sanders praising the Sandinista regime in Nicaragua, as well as food rationing and bread lines:
No one denies that they are building health clinics. Health care in Nicaragua is not free. Infant mortality has been greatly reduced.
… giving, for the first times in their lives, real land for farmers. You can have something that they grow. Nobody denies that they are making significant progress.
You know, it’s funny, sometimes American journalists talk about how bad a country is, ‘cuz people are lining up for food. That’s a good thing! In other countries people don’t line up for food. The rich get the food and the poor starve to death.
This is the real Bernie Sanders. Bread lines are a good thing. Communist regimes that take over countries and spread terror are to be lauded. You can’t put “democratic” in front of that and make it pretty.
The farms that Sanders mentioned? The socialist regime in Nicaragua told farmers that they could join in Soviet-esque communal farms, and if they didn’t, the regime stole their land. The farmers who went along with the regime had their profits “repurposed” by the Sandinistas, who lived in wealth and comfort, while the farmers lived in utter poverty. On top of that, hundreds of people were detained each month during the 80s, when this video was taken. Half of them would just “disappear”. Newspapers were not allow to publish any criticisms of the regime. People who were perceived as opposing the regime would be killed. People were kidnapped, tortured, raped, mutilated, and ultimately, killed. Mass executions were the norm. And of course, people starved.
It’s a socialist paradise. And it’s exactly what Bernie Sanders was praising. What’s terrifying isn’t even that we have a presidential candidate for president praising these kinds of human rights horrors… it’s that there are so many people cheering him on right now.
No doubt that if Sanders wins he’ll be just like every other Socialist bigshot-living high off the hog while the rest of us peasants get to live in misery. He’s had plenty of practice by all accounts-sounds like he just wants more at our expense.
Socialism has been around for over 100 years and its failures have been spectacular and obvious. When are people finally going to wake up and laugh these Socialist idiots like Comrade Sanders right off the stage?
