The Obama government run health care bill passed in the House today. The final vote?
220 – 215, with 39 Democrats voting no and 1 Republican voting yes. Joe Cao, who replaced William “Cold Cash” Jefferson in Louisiana, was the lone dissenter. Cao has also backed the IMF bailout, the S-CHIP expansion, and the omnibus bill. I guess we really shouldn’t be surprised that he voted for Obamacare, too. He got nothing more than a “commitment from Obama to work together to address the health care issues of Louisiana”. His vote apparently sells for very little. But hey, two thumbs up to the rest of the Republicans who voted against this monstrosity.
It’s horrible that this passed in the House, but take heart. It’s still unlikely to pass the Senate, although this win in the House may strengthen the resolve of some of the Blue Dogs, unfortunately. Let’s hope the momentum continues in our favor, and keep the pressure on!
The vote tally that put the final nail in Constitutional government was greeted with cheers.
Twice.
Amazing, Kucinich voted NO. For the wrong reason, of course (it wasn’t mean enough to insurance companies), but still, against it.
According to his bio, Cao fled Saigon from the Communists. The irony here is almost comical. Almost.
While I’m not particularly flipped about the 1 GOP (RINO?), it would have passed anyway. That vote didn’t make much difference. At least the rest of the Republicans voted against it. The Senate vote will be very interesting.
I guess Joe there used ‘R’ because he couldn’t fit the ‘INO’ on his nametag.
Not necessarily RINO inasmuch as he’s too inexperienced to have any resistance against weak threats.
Let’s hope the momentum continues in our favor, and keep the pressure on!
What “momentum?” It PASSED. Right now the Dems have the initiative. We’ve failed to stop this monstrosity in the House and it is one step closer to reality.
