Two new witnesses have come forward to tell what they know about the events in Benghazi, Libya on September 11, 2012. Adam Housley of Fox News has filed his report under the title “We could have been there.” The new witnesses have not been interviewed by the House Benghazi Committee and their reports run counter to the in-house, self-examination Accountability Review Board by the State Department (ARB).
This team member was at Aviano Air Base in Italy the night of the attacks on the Benghazi Diplomatic Compound. The witness, whose identity is being protected, claims that a team could have been on the ground in Benghazi before the second attack that killed CIA employees Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty.
The source said: “I definitely believe that our aircraft could have taken off and gotten there in a timely manner, maybe three hours at the most, in order to at least stop that second mortar attack … and basically save lives that day.”
Former Navy SEALs Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty were killed in that second wave. Ambassador Chris Stevens and information officer Sean Smith were killed in the initial attack on the main compound.
“We could have been there. That’s the worst part,” the source said.
The timeline put together by the Washington Post shows the attacks on the Diplomatic Compound and CIA Annex lasted over six hours.
From the Fox News report by Adam Housley:
He said they were waiting on the call, though, through the night. The men say they didn’t truly learn about the mission they had missed until they returned home the next day from the airfield and saw the reports about the Benghazi attack on the news.
Many still don’t talk about the subject and some insist it has hurt morale within the squadron because “people know we were stationed there and didn’t respond.”
This account from the team member in Aviano, along with the book “Thirteen Hours” written by surviving CIA annex employees, helps to paint a picture of dithering incompetence. Dithering incompetence that led to injuries, deaths and loss of U.S. prestige.
But, there is more!
Former Special Forces team member Mike, who was in the United States at Delta Forces headquarters, reported the following to Adam Housley:
“For some reason they were all shut down, and I think it leads back to a policymaker somewhere because nobody in the military is going to shut down an operation,” he said. On the night of the attack, Mike was at Delta Force headquarters in the U.S. monitoring the events as they happened.
“We had hours and hours and hours to do something … and we did nothing,” he said.
While Democrats on the House Benghazi Committee say that nothing happened in Benghazi…
Trey Gowdy (R, SC) continues to doggedly look for the breadcrumbs that will lead to answers that the families of those who died deserve.
Meanwhile, the UK Guardian has reported that the U.S. will not seek the death penalty for alleged, purported Benghazi ringleader Abu Khattala, who was arrested in June, 2014.
Mike, our Special Forces Sergeant who spoke with Adam Housley, doesn’t think Abu Khattala is the top guy.
Mike, though, said Khattala is a low-level operative and not one of the terror cell leaders. He said the U.S. could have collected intelligence leading to “bigger fish” had the U.S. acted sooner following the attack.
Could this be more smoke and mirrors or bread and circuses from the most transparent administration ever?
Special Report with Brett Baier aired this video report from Adam Housley and the two new witnesses last night.
Two new witnesses tell their stories. No answers for the families, yet. And, Hillary Clinton is running for the top job. She didn’t take that three a.m. phone call as Secretary of State. What makes anyone think she would take the three a.m. phone call as President.
