First of all, congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the safe delivery of a healthy boy. We here at Victory Girls believe in celebrating life, and seeing the happiness that a newborn baby can bring a family is a pleasure to watch.
Leave aside any commentary about royalty, and talk about a “royal baby,” and all you see here is one happy new father, who is inviting you to share in his delight.
But for the media, it’s not enough to be happy about a new baby. We must have a conversation about… race.
Cue all the facepalms.

The article itself is a lecture about not projecting racial assumptions upon a BRAND NEW BABY, while it… projects racial assumptions on a brand new baby and every other interracial person.
Let’s not turn this child into another “Great Mixed-Race Hope.”
We’ve seen this story before. A mixed-race person is elevated to a position of prominence. They’re touted as proof of racial progress, part of a Brown New World in which racism will inevitably collapse in the future because there will be so many interracial relationships.”
This anointing is part of what some call the ongoing “fetishization” of interracial children and adults. Remember Obama’s “hope and change?” His biracial upbringing was supposed to help him bridge racial differences.”
But I no longer believe in the redemptive power of interracial unions, though I am the product of such a relationship. It’s a tired story. And it’s a dangerous one. We can’t “procreate” our way to racial equality.”
Through intimacy across racial lines, a growing number of white Americans are learning to empathize with blacks and other minorities, says Cashin, author of “Loving: Interracial Intimacy in America and the Threat to White Supremacy.”
“Eventually, a critical mass of white people will accept the loss of the centrality of whiteness,” she wrote. “When enough whites can accept being one voice among many in a robust democracy, politics in America could finally become functional.”
The epic expectations for racially-mixed people remind me in some ways of the “Great White Hope.” It was the nickname given to a white boxer in the early 20th century who was pitted against Jack Johnson, the first black heavyweight champion. The expectations of an entire race were placed on his shoulders.”
He still lost. So will we, if we still use the language of white supremacy while celebrating the birth of the royal baby.”
I’m currently questioning my own existence at this point as the product of an interracial marriage and as a rational human being, as I watch the logistical pretzels being twisted here. We’re not supposed to care about what the baby looks like, but if we don’t care, then it shows that we are all still making assumptions about beauty and color and WHY ARE YOU SO OBSESSED, RACISTS???
Sadly, this is not all.
This is not isolated. pic.twitter.com/OWdzYZuiFK

I hate to break it to everyone in the media who is obsessing over this, but… this royal baby is going to be raised BRITISH. He will be raised on tea and scones, polo and cricket, and running with his Great-Grandmother’s corgis long before he ever stares in a mirror and has an existential crisis that he doesn’t look like his cousins. As someone who is interracial, you really don’t grow up caring about that much until it gets pointed out to you… by an adult. Kids don’t care what the people who love them the most look like.
Get a freaking grip, media, and stop projecting your obsessions on a newborn who is still trying to adjust to life in this great big world, and his very sleep-deprived parents.

The left just can’t help their racist roots… of course, the concept of “Brown New World in which racism will inevitably collapse in the future ” is a complete joke.. look at the racism / slavery, etc in various third world countries that have a much darker average skin tone than in this country.
First of all, congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex Harry and Meghan on the safe delivery of a healthy boy.
*Ahem* We don’t do the royalty thing here. đ
a âroyal baby,â
Ha! ALL babies are royal when they’re born. At least until the 3rd one. They’re all treated like kings and queens when they first enter this world. (Well, the ones in NY are treated like French royalty – in about 1789.)
a Brown New World in which racism will inevitably collapse in the future because there will be so many interracial relationships
Yeah, I’ve seen this in SicFi all my life. And I thought it was bullcarp even as a kid.
His biracial upbringing was supposed to help him bridge racial differences.
Well, see it was kinda racist to assume – just because of his race – that 0bama couldn’t be racist his own self. (And he wasn’t “brought up” bi-racial, so much as brought up by his foster dad in Indonesia, where being a muslim and communist was much more important than the color of his skin.)
We canât âprocreateâ our way to racial equality.
Ummm, well, technically you can.
Eventually, a critical mass of white people will accept the loss of the centrality of whiteness
It sure will be nice when progressives give that up. Not what he meant? Well, most of us who are not obsessed with it like the progressives are really just don’t care when push comes to shove. We refuse to accept the centrality of any skin color. We’ve already “lost the centrality”.
politics in America could finally become functional
Yes, when you stop being obsessed with race, then we might actually have workable politics, again. Until then, you should work on your own log and not worry about my speck.
in the early 20th century
Yeah, VERY early – before Wilson was president. Over 100 years ago.
And the title is actually a play (from 1967, and a 1970 movie) about the black boxer. Yes, there are some race themes in the play, but the author said,
“What interested me was not the topicality but the combination of circumstances, the destiny of a man pitted against society. It’s a metaphor of struggle between man and the outside world. Some people spoke of the play as if it were a clichĂ© of white liberalism, but I kept to the line straight through, of showing that it wasn’t a case of blacks being good and whites being bad. I was appalled at the first reaction.”
Oh, and a lot of the issue with the boxer was that he dated white women – which was a very big no-no back then. That bigotry wasn’t right, but it was the norm.
Maybe you should research something like that a little better before tossing it out in your article?
this royal baby is going to be raised BRITISH.
Oh, I’m betting there will be some Americanizing going on with him. I doubt Meghan will be able to stop herself. đ
She’s right about interracial relationships not being the panacea for racism. But, in the process, she’s showing that she’s still obsessed about race. I hope my son can maintain his “Why should I care?” attitude throughout his life.
The real cure for racism? Teaching the Second Table of the Ten Commandments: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
What does “raised Black” mean to these people?
Is it being raised to become a brilliant economist and cultural analyst, like Thomas Sowell? A jurist that supports individual liberty and the rule of law, like Clarence Thomas? A skilled neurosurgeon, like Ben Carson? A respected military officer, like Allen West?
No, undoubtedly what they mean by being “raised Black” is to become one of Louis Farrakhan’s thugs, or a BLM “protestor” looting and torching the corner drug store, or an Islam pandering Marxist criminal like a certain former President.
