Mamdani Claims He Wants “Clean Slate,” Erases Executive Orders

Mayor Mamdani is altering the deal. And he claims that the “clean slate” he just gave himself is BETTER for everyone involved. In reality, he’s sending a message to the Jews of New York City.

The mayor says that he’s sending a message that the former Eric Adams administration was not to be trusted after a certain date. How convenient for him that it also wipes out executive orders that were designed to combat anti-Semitism and anti-Israel actions.

The move, one of five executive orders the 34-year-old pol signed in Brooklyn Thursday, will revoke all orders issued by Adams after Sept. 26, 2024 — the same day he was slapped with federal corruption charges — to ensure a “fresh start” for his incoming administration.

But he vowed to reissue certain Adams-era orders from that period of time, including one that would maintain the Office to Combat Antisemitism.

“We speak about this day as a new era. And in order to fulfill that hope, we have to reckon with why so many New Yorkers have turned away from politics over the last few months, the last few years, the last few decades,” Mamdani said.

I really doubt that the Adams indictment was the straw that broke the camel’s back when it came to the public not trusting politicians, but what a nice little piece of historical revision. (And how typical for a communist regime.) But the news was not welcome to the Jewish community of New York City, who were deeply unhappy about the erasure of the executive orders. Did Mamdani care? Of course not! You see, HIS promises are going to be so much BETTER than any old executive order! And if he finds it politically advantageous to reissue some of them, they will be tweaked. Altered. Changed to fit Mamdani’s vision.

Mamdani effectively brushed off the brewing backlash, unapologetically standing by his decision to wipe out all orders issued by Adams after the now-former mayor was hit with federal corruption charges in September 2024.

He argued revoking Adams’ executive orders gave his administration a “clean slate” – and insisted in a long-winded response that the city under his watch will aggressively fight hate and “protect Jewish New Yorkers.”

“My administration will also be marked by a city government that will be relentless in its efforts to combat hate and division, and we will showcase that by fighting hate across the city, and that includes fighting the scourge of antisemitism by actually funding hate crime prevention, by celebrating our neighbors, and by practicing a politics of universality,” he said.

The new Hizzoner has also vowed to reissue certain Adams orders he supported, such as one to maintain the Office to Combat Antisemitism and a directive to the NYPD on responding to protests at religious buildings.

The new administration plans to make changes to those orders, but have not released the details.

Still, the revoked orders included one signed by Adams just last month that barred city officials from boycotting or divesting from Israel.

Another repealed order adopted the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s definition of antisemitism, which Adams’ administration said included “demonizing Israel and holding it to double standards as forms of contemporary antisemitism.”

The IHRA definition is considered by many Jewish leaders to be the standard in fighting antisemitism, though it’s controversial because many detractors argue it serves to stifle legitimate criticism of Israel.

Mamdani also amended last month’s Executive Order 61, which directed the NYPD to tighten enforcement to protect religious sites from harassment from protesters — including setting up zones where demonstrations would be prohibited within a certain distance from the entrance of a church, mosque, or synagogue.

How it was amended remained unclear Friday morning.

As the New York Post editiorial board pointed out, Mamdani is sending a message, and it ain’t pretty.

If actions speak louder than words, then Mayor Zohran Mamdani gave New Yorkers an earful by smirkingly revoking nine of his predecessor’s executive orders, a third of them touching on antisemitism.

It sure looks like the other six got nixed simply to camouflage that fact.

Mamdani’s office said that the cancelled orders work “against the interests of working-class people,” and he said he was “proud” to cancel them.

The mayor also cancelled an order banning city agencies from boycotting Israel or divesting from Israeli investments for no good reason except discrimination against Israel: This clears the way for Mamdani, a lifelong fanatic about boycotting and sanctioning Israel, to cleanse the city’s supply chain of any Israeli connections.

Most ominously, Mamdani revoked an order instructing the NYPD to “evaluate” conditions for protests outside houses of worship.

Mamdani insisted Tuesday that he will actually fight antisemitism more effectively by “funding hate crime prevention, by celebrating our neighbors, and by practicing a politics of universality.”

The “politics of universality” sound nice, but what does that have to do with people who target Jews for their particularity?

Again, more fine-sounding bloviation that amounts to: “Trust me.”

Brooklyn councilwoman Inna Vernikov directly appealed to Governor Kathy Hochul as the news of Mamdani’s plans spread, saying that “the Jewish community is watching!”

Well, it looks like Councilwoman Vernikov just got her answer. Hochul, who has already bent the knee to Mamdani, plans to continue pandering.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul on Friday issued a proclamation declaring January Muslim American Heritage Month across the state and directed 16 state landmarks, including NYC’s One World Trade Center, to be illuminated green Friday night in “celebration of the heritage and culture of Muslim Americans.”

“Home to the largest Muslim American population in the nation, New York is proud to join in this month-long celebration, recognizing the values, faith and traditions of our Muslim American communities,” Hochul said in a statement.

“New York remains committed to being a beacon of hope, tolerance, and inclusivity that celebrates the diversity of its Muslim American population and protects them from Islamophobia, hate, bias, and harm.”

And Mamdani gave Hochul the necessary pat on the head for her compliance.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said, “While I was proud to be sworn in as our city’s first Muslim mayor yesterday, Muslims have been part of New York for centuries. We have built small businesses, raised our families, pursued every profession, enriched our culture and cuisine, and been a part of what makes our city what it is today. I am grateful for Governor Hochul’s leadership in recognizing these many contributions and ensuring that every January, Muslim New Yorkers can see ourselves reflected and recognized in a city and state that is also our home.”

That message is being broadcast loud and clear to Jewish New Yorkers and Muslim New Yorkers. One is in ascendance in the city and the state. The other is being told that the previous orders and rules no longer apply. Mamdani has altered the deal. Hochul is attempting to placate the hard left by sucking up to him. This is exactly what any honest observer warned would happen. That it is happening within hours of Mamdani taking office? Well, why should the revolution have to wait once their leader is in power?

The election of a communist, muslim as Mayor of NYC with the full backing of the Governor does not bode well for New York and New Yorkers, in general. Our only hope is for Hochul to be voted out and for the muslim to fail miserably!

He will fail miserably, there’s no doubt. But at what cost? There’s no silver lining in this black cloud over NYC. Maybe there’s a lesson to be learned, but liberals won’t learn a thing.
