Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington—a so-called Christian school, mind you—who recently hosted what they proudly dubbed a “Queer Prom” for LGBTQ+ and “ally” youth ages 14 to 24. Yes, you read that right. Fourteen to twenty-four. Only in 2025 do you call it a prom when kids dance with adults and leave with condoms and an HIV test instead of a corsage.
Do you remember attending your high school prom with HIV testing provided at the door, condoms in a bowl, and a grown 24-year-old swaying awkwardly next to your 14-year-old cousin? No? That’s because you went to prom before the world lost its mind.
The so-called prom — themed “Detective Dance: The Case of the Horse Heist” — was billed as a celebration of “queer joy” and was promoted as a safe space for youth to “engage with community resources.” Yet, questions are being raised about the kind of values and influences being introduced to children, some of whom were just entering high school. – The Post Millennial
Pacific Lutheran University didn’t pay for the event, but they did host it on campus—lending their name and their space to the whole thing. The prom itself was organized by Oasis Youth Center, a nonprofit that’s heavily funded by Washington State through taxpayer dollars. So while the church-affiliated school didn’t cut the check, they definitely opened the doors and gave it their stamp of approval.
And even though the prom took place at Pacific Lutheran University, a private church-affiliated school, the fact that a taxpayer-funded group held this kind of event on religious grounds raises real questions about where the so-called separation of church and state begins and ends. If the roles were reversed, the outrage would be deafening.
But let’s get to the truly disturbing part: they hosted a prom with an age range of 14 to 24. That’s not just a bad idea—it’s a deliberate choice. At this point, they’re not even pretending to draw a line between minors and adults. The mask is off. They’re normalizing what any sane person would call grooming—and daring you to say something about it.

And seriously—what are 24-year-old “mentors” doing at a sexually themed queer prom with 14-year-olds? Or better yet, why host a sexually themed prom in the first place? We’re not talking about your standard high school prom with corsages and chaperones. This was a pride-branded, identity-driven event with HIV testing and adult sexual health resources on site. How is that not gross? How is that not at least brushing up against the line of what’s legal?
The registration form for the event asked attendees to select from eight sexual orientations and seven gender identities, and to include personal pronouns. The event also offered “free HIV testing” and promoted “prizes,” adding to questions about what kind of environment was being created for underage participants, especially when mixed with 24-year-olds. – The Post Millennial
What kind of prom needs a sexual orientation checklist and HIV testing to get in? This isn’t inclusion—it’s indoctrination. This isn’t just inappropriate—it’s predatory. Who signs off on something like this? Mixing minors with adults in a sexually charged setting isn’t “affirming.” It’s grooming. Plain and simple.
This isn’t about acceptance or support. This is about ideological grooming wrapped in virtue signals and institutional failure. And yes, it’s disturbing that a supposedly Christian school is not only tolerating this—it’s facilitating it.
Don’t be fooled into thinking Pacific Lutheran University is some innocent bystander in all this. They’ve been signaling their priorities for years—like back in 2020, when they proudly raised the Pride flag on campus. This isn’t a one-off. It’s a pattern.
Now that Trump’s back and some sanity has returned around the push to trans kids, the Left seems to be reverting back to their old playbook: pride parades, gay rights activism, and identity politics dressed up as compassion. Only this time, they’ve taken it a step further—folding in kids, calling it “inclusion,” and hoping no one notices the pedophilia baked into the agenda.
This isn’t about joy, inclusion, or community—it’s about pushing boundaries until there aren’t any left. When church schools partner with activist nonprofits to host sexually charged events for kids and adults, and taxpayer dollars are footing the bill behind the scenes, it’s not progress—it’s collapse. If we don’t call this out for what it is now, we’re going to keep waking up to headlines that make us wonder how much lower the bar can go. Spoiler alert: it can always get worse if no one says enough.
We’re being gaslit into silence by people who conflate criticism with cruelty, and boundaries with bigotry. But someone needs to say it: this is not safe, this is not normal, and this is not okay.

Pedophilia. Isn’t that still a crime, even in Washington state?
Actually, I just figured out why they drew the line at 24:
I think in Washington state, there is a transitional period where it’s not statutory r*pe. If you’re close enough in age to the teen in question, then you’re ok. In some states that stops at 25. Now, you’d technically have to keep the 24yo away from the 14yo, because that would be too great a difference. But you could let the 24yo dance with the 17yo, and the 23yo dance with the 16yo, etc.
A lot of states have adopted something similar, to prevent dad from calling the cops on their daughter’s boyfriend because he just turned 18. I think only 1 or 2 states still make sex between 16-17yos a crime.
Just going to start right off, Carol, and say Pacific Lutheran University is not Lutheran Church Missouri Synod*, meaning it actually no longer holds to Lutheran doctrine. They talk about “Lutheran heritage“, meaning they like the name and like claiming they’re Christian, but they’re not. Yeah, we’ve smashed them about here on Victory Girls before.
(* Or any of the other – usually small – synods that actually hold to the Lutheran Confessions.)
Only in 2025 do you call it a prom when kids dance with adults and leave with condoms and an HIV test instead of a corsage.
Yeah, we use to call that “contributing to the delinquency of a minor” and threw people in jail for it.
a celebration of “queer joy”
In Christianity, there is no such thing as “queer joy.” You can only find joy in the salvation of Christ – which requires repentance (not as a condition, but as a result).
held this kind of event on religious grounds
Not a bit of church-state here. PLU donated their space for a community event. The fact the community is perverted and the church-run university is too, is the only issue here.
with HIV testing
And, if any of the kids had HIV based on sexual activity, it’s because someone, somewhere, likely committed statutory r*pe. If they had it based on intravenous drug use, then someone should probably call the cops, too.
folding in kids
Please, everyone, go read (or re-read) Brave New World. You will see what they are working toward, and it’s not just wanting to diddle liddle kiddies for themselves. They want to break down all moral barriers at a young age, so there are no “hang-ups” when one of them does decide to get sexually involved. Or drugs. Or whatever.
it’s about pushing boundaries until there aren’t any left
Because, Progressives believe that when there are no boundaries, then they are truly free, and they can will themselves into their utopia. And, it’s why they work so very hard to undermine Christianity, since that’s the only religion that truly proclaims you can be free. Except that Christianity says your freedom is within certain boundaries. The hedonist Progressives can’t have a No-No-Nanette hanging about, telling them they’re doing wrong and trying to activate their conscience. Guilt, and all that jazz, is a real buzzkill.
And, remember, PLU is proud of their “Lutheran heritage” – which means they once were Lutheran, but now they really aren’t, but they like to put on an Oktoberfest and might sell Luther bobbleheads once in a while.
