There were quite the number of hissy fits thrown when President Trump called a halt to Kamala’s Secret Service protection. The LA Mayor’s response was to yank elite LAPD officers from working their open cases and are now tasked to protect the “I Lost” queen.
Kamala Harris’ new security detail is made up of Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers, who have been reassigned to guard the former vice president after President Trump withdrew her Secret Service protection, according to a report.
As many as 14 of LAPD’s elite Metro Division officers have been “pulled from working cases” and “crime suppression efforts” to provide security for Harris, local outlet FOX 11 reported on Wednesday.
The outlet recorded an unmarked LAPD SUV with at least two plainclothes officers sitting in the driveway outside Harris’ home in the upscale Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, where the failed 2024 Democratic presidential nominee has been living with her husband, Doug Emhoff, since leaving Washington, DC.
Let’s step back for a minute and review what brought this on. As a Vice President, and a failed Presidential candidate, Kamala had Secret Service protection. But there was a catch.
President Donald Trump revoked Kamala Harris’ Secret Service protection on Thursday, according to a copy of a letter reviewed by CNN.
Former presidents receive Secret Service protection for life. Harris, as a former vice president, received six months of protection after leaving office, according to federal law. That period ended on July 21. However, her protection had been extended for an additional year via a directive – not made public until now – signed by then-President Joe Biden shortly before leaving office, according to multiple people familiar with the undisclosed arrangement.
That is the order Trump canceled in his letter, titled “Memorandum for the Secretary of Homeland Security” and dated Thursday.
“You are hereby authorized to discontinue any security-related procedures previously authorized by Executive Memorandum, beyond those required by law, for the following individual, effective September 1, 2025: Former Vice President Kamala D. Harris,” the letter reads in full.
Yes, you read that correctly. President Joe “Autopen” Biden quietly and sneakily extended her taxpayer funded Secret Service protection to a full year. Not even Joe himself was afforded that perk after Obama left office. If a former Vice President wants protection after the six months is up, it’s supposed to be on their own dime. Supposed to be.
Yet here we have top LADP officers, on taxpayer’s dime, now protecting Kamala while she embarks upon her “I Lost” book tour.

Keep in mind, it’s a fair bet that the active cases the officers were working on were high profile cases. Thus, the victims of those crimes are being left in the lurch because the Democrats threw a hissy fit about Kamala’s Secret Service protection getting yanked.
When we reached out to Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass for comment, Bass’ office responded with a statement accusing Trump of “political retaliation.” Governor Gavin Newsom, who is in discussions to provide California Highway Patrol protection to Harris, is quoted as saying that “the safety of our public officials should never be subject to erratic, vindictive political impulses.”
No one threw a hissy fit when Joe’s protection ended at the six month mark. But it’s evidently (D)ifferent when it’s Kamala and involves President Trump.
And now, supposedly, it will be California Highway Patrol officers who may be added to the mix. Again, on taxpayer’s dime.
The fact is, Kamala can well afford her own security team. After all, she was handed a book advance in the area of $20 million to write her upcoming word salad. Not only that, but she’s getting paid pretty decently in speaking fees after signing with the CAA. And, since the DNC has been paying off her billion dollar campaign debt, she definitely can afford to hire her own security team.
Yet, the Democrats chose to virtue signal and pull officers off of active criminal investigations in order to protect the “I Lost” queen, thus leaving the victims and their families twisting in the wind.

One would think that as a private citizen going on a private book tour to increase sales after receiving a multi million dollar advance that she or the publisher could pay for any additional security deemed warranted. But for Dems, the public fisc is a private slush fund.
