JD Vance Calls Out Joy Reid: Try Gratitude Instead of Trump Hate

Joy Reid isn’t stupid. She is just angry and deeply ungrateful. Her résumé is impressive, and I will even give her credit where it is due. She probably did work hard to get where she is. But now that she is a highly visible media figure, what does she do with that platform? She spends her time trashing the very country, culture, and opportunities that helped her climb there in the first place.

JD Vance Tells Joy Reid She’d Be Happier With a Little Gratitude

Enter Vice President JD Vance. When Donald Trump made it official, I reacted like Taylor Swift just dropped a surprise album at midnight. Our VP is sharp, quick-witted, and fearless, a rare politician who actually says out loud what the rest of us are already thinking. And now, he has a few words of advice for Joy Reid.

Vice President JD Vance said Thursday former MSNBC host Joy Reid “oozes with contempt” after she claimed America was racist.

[…]

Joy Reid has had such a good life in this country. It’s been overwhelmingly kind and gracious to her. She is far wealthier than most. Yet she oozes with contempt. My honest, non-trolling advice to Joy Reid is that you’d be a much happier person if you showed a little gratitude. – Breitbart

In a recent interview on BET Talks, Joy Reid did what Joy Reid always does. She sat down and launched into her usual routine of race-baiting and victimhood. I want to like her, I really do. She is intelligent and clearly capable of making sharp, thoughtful points. And if we are going to have, or even hope to have, real and thoughtful debate in this country, I would welcome Joy’s voice in it. But that is not what she is about. As long as she stays stuck on the same tired script about how black Americans are oppressed and Donald Trump is a dictator, it is impossible to take her seriously.

The Facts Don’t Match Joy Reid’s Outdated Narrative

Here’s the full thirty-minute interview, if you’d like to sit through it. I suggest you do. But I watched it so you don’t have to, and the takeaway is simple: Joy Reid is still talking like it’s 1965. She clings to the idea that America is frozen in the past, where white men run everything and black Americans have no chance to succeed. But this is 2025, not the Jim Crow era.

Today, violent crime is dropping. Segregation is far lower than it was two generations ago. Black Americans are leaders in government, business, media, and the military. Opportunity is greater now than at any point in our history. Joy wants to keep the conversation stuck in the past, but the facts tell a very different story about the country we live in now.

When Hating Trump Becomes a Full-Time Job

Joy Reid isn’t the only media figure seething with contempt for America because of Donald Trump. And yes, it’s hard to see it as anything other than Trump Derangement Syndrome, a blinding obsession that’s turned their criticism of one man into outright hatred for the country itself.

Rosie O’Donnell is so consumed by her hatred of Donald Trump that she actually left the country. Once a genuinely funny comedian and talented actress — yes, I said it — she’s now almost unrecognizable. It’s sad to watch someone with so much potential squander every opportunity in favor of bitterness.

From Commentary to Tantrums: How the Left Lost the Plot

Keith Olbermann is another prime example of someone who completely lost the plot over Donald Trump. Once considered a sharp political commentator and respected broadcaster, he’s now known mostly for rant-filled videos calling for Trump supporters to be jailed and democracy to be “saved” from anyone who disagrees with him. What used to be thoughtful analysis has devolved into a daily tantrum, and it’s hard to recognize the person he once was.

And then there is the late-night crowd, Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, and Seth Meyers, men who were once known for sharp comedy and clever writing. Now, their entire monologues revolve around Trump, night after night. They do not entertain as much as they sermonize, and their shows have become little more than therapy sessions for the perpetually outraged. It is not a comedy anymore. It is coping.

I am sure you, dear reader, can think of plenty more names to add to this list. And the common thread is always the same. Donald J. Trump, and more importantly, the millions of Americans who voted for him. It is not just Trump they despise. It is the people who put him back in office.

Trump Obsession Has Replaced Common Sense

And that is the point JD Vance was making. Joy Reid, Rosie O’Donnell, Keith Olbermann, and the late-night crowd are not victims of a cruel America. Yes, they worked for their success, but they also built their careers in a country that gave them the freedom and opportunity to do it. Instead of showing any gratitude, they spit on it. They built their whole identities around hating one man and mocking the millions of people who voted for him.

Their Trump hatred runs so deep that it is not hard to imagine them nodding along with someone like Jay Jones. When contempt for one man and his supporters becomes the driving force, even dangerous rhetoric starts to sound justified. That is how political obsession blinds people to basic right and wrong, and it is exactly what we are watching happen.

Vance’s advice was simple. If they stopped acting like they were oppressed and showed a little humility, they might remember that this country is the reason they have anything at all. But outrage pays more than gratitude, and bitterness is the brand they chose.

I am inclined to think that Reid, Olbermann, and O’Donnell are behaving this way to cynically generate interest and attention, which in turn puts money in their bank accounts. In other words, their obvious TDS infection is a mask they wear to enrich themselves.
