Insider Attack Kills American 2 Star General in Afghanistan

Always nice to wake up to this news in the morning.

A U.S. general was killed and more than a dozen people were wounded, including a German general, in the latest insider attack by a man believed to be an Afghan soldier, U.S., German and Afghan officials said on Tuesday.

I would have done something like this earlier yesterday, but I was engaged in deep breathing.  As in, I was taking deep breaths and using them to scream cuss words.  And I wanted the military to be sure of the five W’s before I started posting; mostly hoping it was a premature report.

The slain general was identified in U.S. media reports as Major General Harold Greene, a senior officer with the international military command ISAF. He was the most senior U.S. military official killed in action overseas since since the war in Vietnam, U.S. military officials said.

Major General Greene is now the highest ranking officer to die in Afghanistan.  The Talibs can claim to have killed a policy maker and high ranking battle commander, which will do much more to attract the flies to the dukey pile than any errant airstrike we could pull off.  I mean, who doesn’t want to join Team Jihadi when the team is handing out ass-kickings like this?  Back in ’02 when the cowboy president was around, it was positively unpopular and quite life changing to shoot at Americans in Afghanistan.

“Blue on Green” makes it sounds like competing gowns at a fashion show.

When you have the leaders of the Officers School (a combination of West Point and the War College–my husband tells me) in the line of fire, and people who can get that close to them to do this; then you know you have a problem.  A leadership problem.  Now that they have gotten close enough to pull off a real whammy, what do you think that is going to say about our leadership in the world Mr. President?  What about what it says about our ability to protect our people?

And as Barack announced to the Taliban and the world, we are out of here this year.  Home by Christmas for everyone.  No more war for us.  Attention Taliban, mark your calendars; surge this year, withdrawal next year.

And lest you think that I am not being fair and balanced, I took issue with the last President on this matter regarding the unending war that turned into a community restoration project, because the idea that we are going to make this sandy pile of dukey into a better smelling pile of dukey that will a productive part of the world community while not accounting for the lack of education, intelligence, tribal loyalty, religious affiliation and feudal government that is as common as the altitude.

We have Colin Powell to thank for the “you break it, you bought it” strategy of fighting wars.  Thanks Colin, while I appreciate your service to our nation and your experience in these matters, I think the idea that I have to rake the sandbox into nice neat lines after I smash all the toys is stupid.

And following that line of thinking; if it truly is mine since I broke it, what if I want to move onto other things and leave this broken stuff right here on the ground, or in the garbage?  It is mine you know.  I don’t have to fix it.  I could just leave it the way it is.  I don’t think anyone will miss it.  I would rather that we quenched our enemy’s thirst for battle with what would seem like to them an unending rain of fire, and just swept what was left into a small pile and put a note to the garbage man on it.  Building back what we just blew up sounds like a really terrible way to fight a war.

And now on our way out the door to fight the war on climate change, unequal treatment of gays, unequal pay for women, and a hundred other irrelevant things and straw men that no one gives two poops in a poke for; we have a 2 star general killed and a nice propaganda victory for our enemies.

Thanks Barack for leading our country from behind.

Maybe you forgot that under the “cowboy president” we supported the Taliban who eradicated the opium crop
Maybe you forgot that under Reagan (mostly) we gave BILLIONS to the radical muslims to fight the Russians
We lost both Iraq AND Afghanistan before 2009 when Obama came in.

Colin Powell was a corrupt self-serving bureaucrat like ALL military officers above the rank of Major not someone who served his country. Including his liberation theology and tribal identity he is human garbage just like the man who was killed.
