Idaho Governor Signs Federal Gun Law Nullification

Idaho Governor Signs Federal Gun Law Nullification

One of the things you may have missed over the weekend is that Idaho governor Butch Otter signed emergency legislation to stop the ever-growing federal gun grab.  It’s considered “emergency” legislation because there is a provision in it that makes it take effect the minute he signed it.  What’s even more awesome is that this bill passed the state legislature unanimously.  As in, S1332 passed the house by a vote of 68-0, and the senate by a vote of 34-0.  So what does this bill actually do?

“…protect Idaho law enforcement officers from being directed, through federal executive orders, agency orders, statutes, laws, rules, or regulations enacted or promulgated on or after the effective date of this act, to violate their oath of office and Idaho citizens’ rights under Section 11, Article I, of the Constitution of the State of Idaho.”

That’s not even the best part.

“…any official, agent or employee of the state of Idaho or a political subdivision thereof who knowingly and willfully orders an official, agent or employee of the state of Idaho or a political subdivision of the state to enforce any executive order, agency order, law, rule or regulation of the United States government as provided in subsection (2) of this section upon a personal firearm, a firearm accessory or ammunition shall, on a first violation, be liable for a civil penalty not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000) which shall be paid into the general fund of the state…”

This means that it’s not only prohibiting anyone from enforcing those ridiculous and unconstitutional federal laws, but it criminalizes it, and penalizes those who do it.  Idaho just became that much more attractive as a place to live.

That’s a good start. I wonder if the fine shouldn’t be higher though, say $10,000 instead of $1,000. Most politicians have supporters who would pay such a fine (secretly) on their behalf, so it ought to hurt them a bit more!

So how long before Barry signs an XO making it illegal for states to nullify federal law, on penalty of incarceration? Or includes it as part of an international “treaty” (you know the one), which is the highest law of the land?

In case anyone missed it, the federal government is trying to force states to become its vassals, in direct opposition to the founding principles of this country. Franklin’s “We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately” rings with truth once again: if a few states stand alone against the might of the feds, they will be penalized until their economies falter and compliant officials are elected.

Although I’ve officially sworn off making predictions*, you might want to pay particularly close attention during the period just after the fall elections, when there’s nothing left to risk and the State Media is trying to distract us with Winter Holiday hype and miraculous economic news.

    * because I consistently underestimate the malfeasance and treachery of this administration.

One of the many reasons my family relocated to Idaho. He’s far from perfect, but Otter got this one right.

And Xavier, you are absolutely correct. Watch the other hand.

If only it wasn’t so cold up there……

I love it because it reasserts state sovereignty. The states are the governing bodies, the ‘federal‘ government is merely supposed to be a glue that holds them together, not the master over them.
