This mission of Vox.com is to “explain” the whys of the news in our complicated world. The fact that Vox leans heavily Left is a given, right? And, for our low-information, short attention span, young folk, Vox has “explainer” videos, podcasts and articles. That is how we arrived at the Vox article: “House Republicans’ humiliating year, explained.”
In all honesty, the Vox article has valid points. The Republicans in the House did not cover themselves in glory:
There’s nothing quite like starting the year with 14 consecutive rounds of failed speaker votes.
Just one week into 2023, House Republicans had already endured a humiliating leadership race full of infighting and chaos. And while that was a low point for them, things arguably went downhill from there.
Since then, the GOP followed up its first wave of speaker drama with another equally tumultuous contest, expulsion votes on one of its own members, failed attempts to get much of its policy agenda out the door, and floundering investigations of President Joe Biden.
Spending a year dealing with political and personnel problems left the party with little to show for itself policy-wise ahead of an election year in which Republicans hope to expand on their narrow House majority. And it has given Democrats plenty of ammunition to use in making the case the GOP shouldn’t be trusted to govern.
As a Republican, I am so used to Republican House members humiliating themselves that it would be a shock it they didn’t humiliate themselves. In the same article, the author drags Republicans for not passing more bills. Only 27 bills were passed. That is a GOOD THING. For Republicans, not passing bills is a benefit. Keeps the b*st*ards out of our lives.
We don’t like the House Republicans’ cock-ups, but I do prefer that to the House Democrats with their lock-step, group-think. Democrat constituents have no representation because their Congresscritter cannot think for themselves. The House Democrats are also afforded the protection of the Media Industrial Complex. No matter how a Democrat humiliates himself/herself, he/she will not be criticized. Not just protected by the Media Industrial Complex, but excuses will be made and explanations offered up.
Allow me to explain:
While House Republicans were giddy in voting to expel George Santos, House Democrats nearly flooded the House chamber with their tears when asked to vote to censure Rashida Tlaib for her obvious and well-known Antisemitism:
Waaaah! Poor Antisemite. The media supports the Democrats no matter how hateful.
Jamaal Bowman was a one-man wrecking ball this past year. In March, he tried to bow up against Kentucky Republican Thomas Massie. Allow me to remind you:

In June, Bowman and other House Democrats complained that Biden was doing enough to get the reparations ball rolling.
Finally, Jamaal Bowman was censured for pulling the fire alarm, remember? Here is the Jonathan Turley explanation:
Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., has problems opening doors. That is the defense being put forward by supporters after Bowman was videotaped pulling a fire alarm in the middle of the heated budget negotiations and then running away.
Bowman now claims that he was faced with a closed door clearly marked with signs saying that the doors were only to be used in cases of emergency and alarms would sound. The New York Democrat was in front of the door without staffers and allegedly confused by the signs on it… So, he pulled a clearly marked fire alarm because he thought that that is how you open a door.
Republicans have suggested an alternative explanation: Bowman was attempting to disrupt the budget vote as Democrats were demanding more time after Republicans put forward another stopgap measure.
So, the former Middle School Principal pulled the fire alarm to aid his team. Bowman did plead guilty to a misdemeanor and will have his record expunged in three months. That is as it should be according to the Media Industrial Complex.
Of all the House Democrats, Alexandria Ocasio Cortez is the second or third dumbest, no Democrats or media (I know, redundant) ever call her out. She loves the “children” crossing the border:
Did you guys see this video of AOC? She’s on her usual crazy rant again, but this time, she’s saying there “is no invasion at the border” and it’s a “climate crisis” then blaming the notion of this border invasion as a “white supremacist” philosophy…

Damn you, Imperialists. You’re trying to keep children out:

Those children sure look like military age males to me:

House Democrats have their usual consequence free year thanks to their buddies in the press. Happy New Year, nothing will change.

AOC is the result of a casting call put out by those who backed her. She consistently spouts their views.
