Hijab Wearing Army Sergeant Screams Discrimination

Cesilia Valdovinos is a sergeant in the US Army who wears a hijab, for which she received approval by the Army. But last week she filed a complaint at Ft. Carson in Colorado the day after she claims a superior forced her to remove her hijab. Not only that, but she claims that the superior officer allegedly “grabbed” her arm and “pulled” her into a room to order its removal.

Valdovinos said the experience was like “religious rape.” Of course she did.

“I felt naked without it. It’s like asking you to take off your blouse. It felt like I was getting raped, in a sense.”

True rape victims might beg to differ, but never mind. As a Muslim female of Hispanic and Navajo background, Valdovinos holds a gold Intersectionality Card.

She also got a shout-out from @WorldHijabDay at Twitter:

Not only did she complain to Ft. Carson’s equal opportunity office, Valdovinos also contacted the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, which is run by Mikey Weinstein. Weinstein is a schmuck who despises Christians and would run them out of the military if he could. In fact, last month he tried to get an Air Force Academy alumnus booted from speaking at its National Character and Leadership Symposium. Why? Because the man is Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility at Chick-fil-A. Weinstein called it “another wretched example…of fundamentalist Christian-based homophobic oppression by USAFA.” Fortunately the superintendent of USAFA sent Weinstein packing.

But Weinstein thinks it’s dandy for Valdovinos to go all “I’m-a-Victim!” here:

“This woman has been spiritually raped. This rips asunder good order, morale, discipline and unit cohesion. It also serves up a public relations bonanza for our Islamic extremist enemies.”

There it is — that rape word again. Somehow I don’t think the officers assaulted, battered, and bloodied Valdovinos like a rape victim.

The Army, however, disagrees with Valdovinos’ story, and it’s pushing back. They say, in short, that her hair was out of regulation. According to a female captain who witnessed the incident:

“Upon removing her hijab it was evident her hair was completely down. CSM (Kerstin) Montoya told her to get her hair back in regulation and not let it happen again.”

But Valdovinos said that her obligatory hair bun came down when she took off her hijab. Riiiight.

To which Mikey Weinstein went meshugge and used really really big words to demonstrate his outrage. Outrage, I tell you!

“Their mendacious and twisted ‘version’ of what transpired is an absolutely repulsive exacerbation of an already horrific incident of racist anti-Muslim prejudice.”

But the hijab kerfuffle isn’t Valdovinos’ only problem with the Army. She also complained to Weinstein that the Ft. Carson kitchen staff had an “issue” with the fact that she couldn’t handle pork. In fact, the smell of pork made her “nauseous.”

“During my short months at the dining facility, SFC Bryant a Caucasian female had an issue with my religious preferences of not handle pork or being in the back of the kitchen while pork was being cooked. The smell that the pork would give off while being cooked would turn my stomach, make me nauseous, and give me bad headache.”

But wait! There’s more! More ways the Army was so mean to the poor little sergeant just trying to be a good Muslim woman:

“In this company I have been referred to as the “girl with the hood” because I wear hijab. . .”

Valdovinos is trying to become a poster child for supposed anti-Muslim bigotry. But she’s more Jussie Smollett phony than victim.

The Army did not have to acquiesce to religious garb like the hijab, but they did so back in 2017. You may not agree with the policy, and I never served, so I have no dog in this fight. But this is how the Army has decided to accommodate different faiths:

So while Sikhs and Orthodox Jews wear their turbans and kippahs respectfully, Cesilia Valdovinos is taking a cue from Rep. Ilhan Omar and becoming a trouble-maker. She’s using the privilege the Army granted her in order to agitate. Moreover she’s being aided and abetted by the loathsome Mikey Weinstein.

The Army is a place for warriors — but not for the social justice sort like Cesilia Valdovinos with her hijab.

One more reason muslims should not be in the military. Their allegiance is, and always will be islam first, US second, if at all. They are doing their best to destroy us from within, and regulations like this help them. islam is a cult, not a religion, and should be treated as such!

      Simmer down Francis….
This is more an SJW thing than a true muslim/islam thing. My best friend… 30 years in the service (still active) 10 of those years with JSOC and SOCOM…. Muslim. He servers honorably and even has numerous tours in our current wars in the sandbox.

Maybe you should calm down a little and not paint with such a broad brush. understand that she may be Muslim, but there are plenty of whiners looking to start trouble and its social justice, oh poor me, give me attention… Islam is just something she is using as a bat against people.

      • Scott says:

Good on your friend, and kudos to him for his service. I agree completely that the SJW is strong with this one, and happily admit that there are exceptions, but I would argue that those like your friend are people that are not actually being true to their faith. The koran is very clear on how muslims SHOULD act, and it is NOT compatible with our Constitution, or freedom.

      • Missy says:

American ideology and the ideologies of Islam are 180 degrees difference. Nothing in common at all whatsoever. I am amazed at the ignorance and lackadaisical attitudes regarding this. There was a law in 1952 about Islam being banned in the US. And for good reason. In 1990.. no doubt, some liberals passed laws that have overridden that law. Muslims and Jews do NOT belong in American military nor politics. Muslims are all about Islam first. Jews are all about Israel first. Israel runs US foreign policies. Most everything wrong in the US.. Zionists are at the very root. What occurred in pre-Hitler Germany is occurring in the US, ie. ZOG aka Zionist Occupation of Government. Their MO is to destroy the US as we’ve known it for many years. Eradicate Christians & Christianity. NWO is a Zionist agenda. Threats to the 2nd Amendment = Zionist agenda. And the list goes on and on.

    • sickofthestupid says:

We are killing ourselves just like scott said if their religion Islam comes first. Then they have no business being in the military because they will betray the USA.

She’s a cook, and as such, is expected to cook pork products. If she can’t perform her assigned job, a bar to re-enlistment needs to be issued, she is to be thanked for her service, and allowed to return home.

    • Scott says:

Exactly! If you want to accommodate her, and make sure there are non-pork options to eat, fine and dandy, but “the smell makes me nauseous”???? show her the door!

    • Nicki says:

Yep. I suppose she can try to reclass, but the Army is not a fucking jobs program for the special. I’d rather she just go the fuck away. Why would she agree to that MOS, knowing that not everyone shuns pork? SHEESH!

      • RADinVA says:

Don’t mince words, what do you really think? All kidding aside, when you goes to enlist, you take the ASVAB test to determine qualifications. The recruiter gives you options, and you CHOOSE your MOS. The only times I can recall during my 20 years of someone NOT choosing their MOS, is when they failed to pass the course for their chosen MOS….and they got reclassified for “the needs of the Army”. So, she either chose the field she is in….or she’s dumb as fuck and the Army stuck her there. If it’s the latter, well, then, she’s been all that she can and time to move on.

        • GWB says:

Cook was the one MOS lower than 11B on almost everyone’s list when I worked with them (I was AF). A lot of people in that MOS were not there by choice.

        • Nicki says:

When I enlisted – with my 136 GT – they tried to get me to be a tank mechanic. I was like, “DAFUQ? Nope!”

Unless she’s just as dumb as a fucking brick, she could have qualified to do something else – even be a mechanic. She had to have known that as a cook she would have to prepare meals – even meals that she can’t or won’t eat.

So I’m thinking dumb as a fucking brick.

And no, I don’t mince words. LOL

          • SFC D says:

136? Ho Lee Chit! I feel like an ignoramus now with a 126. I’m a cynical, suspicious SOB, I’m thinking she specifically chose to be a cook just to “take a stand”. Too bad. Can’t or won’t perform to the standards of your MOS, you go home.

            • Nicki says:

Dude, that’s awesome. Don’t feel like an ignoramus. College helped. I enlisted after graduating Johns Hopkins.

            • Nicki says:

Oh, and I totally agree, although why anyone would want to be a cook and deal with gross food is beyond me. I don’t even like cooking in my own house! I can’t imagine wanting to do it as an MOS – even to take a stand.

    • GWB says:

I really do agree with accommodation for religious issues. The hijab thing is bothersome (as is the Sikh turban and beard thing) for issues such as “How do you get your helmet on?” and “Can you wear a gas mask properly?” But, if you can do your job, then I don’t have a problem.

As a cook, she is cooking for the entire unit. Pork is a frequent ingredient, not because it’s tasty (though it is!) but because it can be cooked up in job lots rather easily, and it has (in the past) tended toward cheap. If she is demanding that the US Army do away with pork altogether to accommodate her religious strictures, then she can retrain or get out. Period. That is not a reasonable accommodation. (I’m going to guess that observant Jews aren’t exempted from being in the kitchen when pork is cooked – assuming there are any observant Jews as cooks in the US military.)
If she just wanted to avoid handling the pork, then fine. There’s lots of other jobs in the kitchen she can do (like taking out the trash).

No Muslims should be allowed in the military, period. In fact, none should be allowed in the United States. Their cult believes that anyone who leaves the cult willingly deserves death, and that any Muslim who kills said person gets many brownie points in Paradise. Unfortunately for them, that cuts strictly against the grain of the United States Constitution.

That is only one of many points that brings Islam into conflict with the Constitution. The best way for America to deal with Islam is to keep it OUT of the United States. We would do well to close down all mosques and ban Islam for being what it actually is: a rapaciously dangerous political philosophy masquerading as a religion.

  • Mike K says:

“nauseous’ is an adjective whose meaning is “inducing nausea in others.” The adjective indicating a sensation of nausea in the person describing it is “nauseated.” I would say she is using the correct adjective.

  • David Longfellow says:

One thing you can depend on in this world…
    Muslims lying.

  • AllTheWay says:

First, kudos to the NCO for demanding this muslim Sergeant meet military standards for grooming set forth in AR670-1. He/she is taking a chance with their career, but they need to be commended for putting the good of the Army before their personal career.
No one has a “right” to be in the military, and once in the military, no one has a “right” to a certain MOS. Needing to fulfill it’s mission to the nation to defend, the military has requirements for that mission. Discrimination against those who cannot fulfill that obligation, and yes, that means cooks as well, is required. The blind, the overweight, high school dropouts, and many other conditions preclude service in the military. There are further discriminating factors for certain MOSs, such as color blindness, hearing loss, physical and metal acuity. For a cook, the inability to handle pork and especially BACON, should close off the MOS 92G, Food Preparation Specialist. This should have been made clear to her by her recruiter, and having failed that, by her commander. She has no right to decide which foods she will prepare for soldiers, and which she will not prepare. I can guarantee that any accommodations made to her “religion” will result in extra work for the other 92Gs in her unit. That’s unfair to the others in her unit, and will breed discontent and disunity, a killer for any effective unit.
But let’s get down to brass tacks. The ability to wear a hijab in the military, the promotion to Flag Rank for officers who support Leftist causes, the ability for an avowed communist to attend and graduate from USMA (West Point), the acceptance of radical muslim cleric instructors at West Point and other military academies, the “right” of transsexuals to join the military….these were all undertaken to weaken the Army by the political party that has, since the 1960s, loathed the military and all it stands for. They will do anything and everything they can do to weaken the military as an effective fighting force. This muslim Sergeant will get the full support of Democratic Senators and Representatives because they understand that allowing a Sergeant to dictate to the US Army leadership when and how she will serve in the US Army is another blow to good order and discipline.

  • OldParatrooper says:

I don’t remember whether Mikey Weinstein is an atheist or not, but he’s been actively anti-Christian for decades. And he has a particular hatred for Christians at the Air Force Academy. Not surprised to see him branch out to the Army, although Ft Carson is a much more workaday place than the Academy.

  • GWB says:

It is entirely possible that her Command Sergeant Major was harassing her. There are still a*holes left in the world, and some of them rise to high rank – both enlisted and officers.

It is also very likely that she is just a lying sack of refuse, and either using her religion to just be a gimme/get-my-own-way jerk, or using taqiyya to implement “creeping” Sharia. (And, yes, I know that “and” might be a better conjunction there.)

  • Sabre22 says:

Simple question for turbans beards and hijab wearers can you get your gas mask on in 9 seconds or less if not you need to think about a wardrobe or grooming change or leaving the military. if you can good for you.

  • Cameron says:

She looks like she’s 9 in the picture at the top. Acts younger as well.

  • Matthew House says:

Someone needs to serve that cook a Big Chicken Dinner.

  • Richard R. Pope says:

What is she doing in the military? How did she get a Security Clearance? She is an enemy combatant and she has no business being in the country. muslims aren’t citizens. It is against Federal Law for muslims to be in the country, to come here, to be allowed to come here, or the be helped to come here. The FBI needs to enforce this law. Any Citizen that converts to islam must immediately renounce their Citizenship and leave the country forthwith.
. . . . All of the people involved in helping muslims to come to this country need to be arrested on millions of counts of helping them. They also need to be charged with millions of counts of High Treason during Wartime which is a Capital Offense. They should spend the rest of their miserable lives in GITMO.
