General Kelly Shames Frederica Wilson’s ‘Empty Barrel’ Politicization Of Soldier’s Death [VIDEO]

For the last few days President Trump has been slammed left and right about what he supposedly said in a call to a fallen soldier’s family. I was especially disgusted by the actions of Democrat Congresswoman Frederica Wilson and her grandstanding in the face of the very real grief of Sgt. La David Johnson’s wife Myeshia and their children.

Today, General Kelly, White House Chief of Staff, called Wilson and everyone else on the carpet.

I have to admit, I had tears in my eyes after watching this. A heartfelt tribute to the anguish and care of what takes place after a soldier is killed. This pointed reminder shouldn’t have been needed, but due to Wilson and others, what Kelly said should serve as a major wake up call for everyone.

General Kelly knows. He knows all too well. He was on the other side when he received notification when his son was killed. He is a Gold Star Father.

Dina Rudick/Globe Staff.

Somehow, someway, four days after his son’s death, he gave one of THE most moving speeches on CHARACTER I’ve ever heard. Catherine, one of our former writers, wrote about his speech here.

Furthermore, as he stated above, one of his soldiers was Lance Corporal Chance Phelps. The movie, ‘Taking Chance” is a moving tribute to all that our casualty affairs officers and military escorts go through when bringing a soldier home. Lt. Col. Michael R. Strobl wrote about his journey with Chance.

Chance Phelps was wearing his Saint Christopher medal when he was killed on Good Friday. Eight days later, I handed the medallion to his mother. I didn’t know Chance before he died. Today, I miss him.

HBO turned that story into a movie starring Kevin Bacon that, to this day, I can’t watch without going through multiple boxes of Kleenex.

Frederica Wilson cared only about slamming President Trump with every media outlet she could, including The View.

Wilson is a crass, mean-spirited fool. Those calls or letters are private and SACRED until the widow or parents make them public.

But NOOOOO…in the interest of making political points, Wilson went public and was doing a happy dance because GOTCHA TRUMP!

This entire tweet storm from wounded warrior and all-around bad ass guy J.R. Salzman is completely on point. The selective outrage by Frederica Wilson, and the eager salivation by the media and those anti-Trump who lap it up, is beyond crass.

General Kelly describes Wilson perfectly.

Wilson revealed that Trump told the widow of Army Sgt. La David Johnson that her husband “knew what he was getting into.”

“I would have thought that was sacred,” Kelly said of Trump’s conversation with Myeshia Johnson. Wilson was present for the call.

Wilson’s statements “eroded [it] a great deal,” said Kelly, a retired Marine Corps general who lost a son in Afghanistan.

It did. Her statements and her grandstanding completely trashed what is a horrific time of grief for the family. Wilson’s statements and grandstanding showed she DOESN’T care about Sgt LaDavid Johnson’s bravery, courage, or sacrifice.

She is a narcissistic, opportunistic buffoon who only cares for herself.

General Kelly was so appalled and disgusted by all of this that he had to spend some time at Arlington.

General John Kelly, White House Chief of Staff, knows the grief that the families are going through. He KNOWS how the process works with the military. Watch the video above again. He KNOWS.

Yet what does Frederica Wilson say after his remarks this afternoon?

“John Kelly’s trying to keep his job. He will say anything,” says @RepWilson in response to Trump’s staff chief who ripped her for disclosing details of controversial call with soldier’s widow. “There were other people who heard what I heard.”

The extreme lack of character and crass boorishness is so strong with Frederica Wilson that she just can’t stop digging.

John Kelly was the voice of decency in the face of a tsunami of indecent, shameful politicization by Frederica Wilson of the grief that Sgt. La David Johnson’s family is going through. Thank you, sir.

Need I remind everybody of how the media exalted Cindy Sheehan for her unchallenged moral authority I can understand Mrs. Sheehan’a anguish Her son rejected his mother’s politics to twice enlist in the Army So can Congressperson Wilson explain why John Kelly is not entitled to the same deference given Sheehan?

    • SFC D says:

And look how well that turned out for dear Cindy. Tossed onto the trash heap of history as soon as she outlasted her usefulness. Sacrificed by her liberal sisters on the moral high ground.

    • Nina says:

Well, you see. She’s a Democrat and Kelly is working for a hated Republican.

That, according to the left, makes all the difference in the world. And supposedly gives them free rein to be as crass as they possibly can.

  • GWB says:

Miss Wilson, you might want to re-consider your line of work. While hyenas are common in D.C., ghouls are generally more employable around gothic cathedrals and ancient burial grounds. Though, with Halloween coming up, any street corner might be appropriate.

As to Mrs Johnson (who evidently initially backed up Wilson’s remarks, but I’ve seen nothing more), I care not a whit about your politics, but I honor you for the sacrifice your family has made. Your husband joins the legions who ride in honor through our hearts. May he rest in peace, and may his memory comfort and strengthen you all.

Kelly’s speech was memorable for it’s emotionless-yet-emotional delivery. It was obvious he didn’t want to talk about it, yet it was important to him to get people to understand.

The press (the entire left, but the press would be a really significant start) needs to get their heads out and begin truly understanding what America was, is and strives to be. Only then can they truly honor our country – including its war dead.
If they don’t want to do that, then to HeII with them. May their chains rest lightly upon them, and may posterity forget that they were our ‘countrymen’.
