Friday Fiction: 100 Word Challenge

I’ll start with a story …

His story was outrageous, unbelievable. Listening, she felt her heart leap and flutter at her ribs like a frightened bird as she looked down at his bent head, felt his tears falling on her lap.

“My mission was to meet you, to convince you break your engagement,” he whispered as if each word were torn out by torture, “I have to change the future, I was resigned to it. but I’m in love with you. ”

It was impossible, of course. But it explained so much. She lifted his chin, kissing him and made her decision.

And he was gone.
